Not one of my usual posts! This is a religious post (not negative towards other religions or anything, just a rant about some misinformation) so if you're uncomfortable with that, feel free to skip this post 🤍
Oh my Hades! I've seen so many people commenting on Hellenistic posts on all sorts of platforms with heavy misinformation from fandoms that contain polytheistic/hellenistic themes (mainly Percy Jackson). And oh my gods! It makes me so upset!! Like, yes, I am in the Percy Jackson and EPIC: The Musical fandoms, but I still believe in the ORIGINAL Greek myths and customs! I enjoy Percy Jackson and EPIC but people seem to think that PJO & EPIC are perfect representations of the Greek myths, and they aren't! That's what makes them their own fandoms!!
MY RELIGION IS NOT A FANDOM! Please stop telling me that I'm wrong about certain myths because they've been retold in another fandom! Treating hellenism like any modern day fandom with "headcanons" and "ships" and stuff like that is so insanely disrespectful towards the hellenistic/polytheistic people and the gods. I think people are forgetting that there are still people who are Hellenistic and/or polytheistic.
And people being angry at the gods for something they did in a FANDOM?? Good gods. And it makes me so upset to see people being disrespectful towards the gods over it? Like, some of the gods are bad in PERCY JACKSON, but are they really that bad in the actual myths?
Do your own research before trying to correct me on my own religion.
GOOD MORNING, ZEUS
(there’s a thunderstorm)
Sometimes I don't get why non-members find us so weird, and then I remember the 7th Article of Faith and that it applies to all peoples:
"We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth."
Like, we readily believe that Great-Aunt Kaitie or somebody in the family saw the future or that Cousin Joe spoke 3 separate languages on his mission and didn't know it because HG* had his back.
And, and if we even THINK for a SECOND that we might be talking to a Spirit/Angel/Demon, WE HAVE A TEST FOR THAT. Like, "Oh, hey, btw, do you mind giving me a handshake real quick? Thanks"
Anyways, sometimes I'm completely normal about our religion and other times I feel completely unhinged over legit doctrine. 🫠
Khaire mighty Pan!
Great rustic god of the wild
Lord of Shepards and hunters alike
He who sought to defend Zeus' inviolable sceptre And who fought the Titans
O Sea-roaming pan, who hunts typhon with only a net
In your honour an altar stands
I praise you wild and horned defender of untouched lands and mountain tops
Divine dweller of groves and meadows
I honour you.

To Lord Apollon,
Though my offerings are infrequent, though I am silent for months on end
I still think of You and your glorious love
I can remember that first day in the field over a year ago, when You took me another way home and let me know of Your presence, only a part of me was surprised
I knew it was You, I just needed to listen
I am trying to get rid of this hindering ability that I think I cannot give You offerings because it is too risky, or I am scared and nervous that I will mess up
Your patience is beautiful and I thank You for it
I think of You when the sun is out, I think of You when I see dandelions, I think of You many hours of the day
I am trying to pull myself back to You and the power You hold
