Remainder of me Au Prologue.

This is a lone survivor Donatello Au, Leo was lost to the prison dimension While Mikey and Raph were burned away and consumed by the mystic energy Mikey summoned to try and get Leo back.

There will be themes of grief and loss (obviously) mental/psychological decline, depression, survivor's guilt, unhealthy coping mechanisms, self isolation, anger/aggression and an unwillingness to get/accept help and or support.

Oleander: "hush now, don't fight to stay awake, it'll be easier for everyone this way..."

Donatello: "reach for your gun and it'll be the last thing you ever do..."

Oleander: "Please... We're not here to hurt anyone, but it's not like you'll just let us walk out of here now..."

Never met a “poison Yōkai” before? … yeah, that’s not surprising… there’s only about 47 left… and most aren’t approved to leave the temple…

Olly is one of the few approved by the high council to do so, she’s “harmless” for the most part, well, until you throw the first punch at least, then you’ll most likely be hit with a paralytic… she’s careful about overdosage though, after all, killing someone could get her approval revoked… not that she’s as mindful about it anymore after losing her friends…

Remainder of me- after Kraang…

*Donatello was in his lab working on his computer, barely spending any time outside of his lab. The door was locked and the purple turtle was hunched up in front of his screen the bags under his eyes hidden by his mask but the capillaries in his exhausted eyes showed the bloodshot and unwell nature…*

*Splinter was still recovering from the Kraang fight in the other room, he was sleeping right now, his heart monitor and call button information was up on the screen to Donnie’s right, he hadn’t even minimized the tabs once since Donnie got the system set up…*

*Then abruptly there was a voice*

M- *slight worry* “Donnie? How’s Dad?”

*Donnie glanced over at the screen that was constantly updated with Splinters Vitals and health*

D- “he’s fine. Micheal.”

L- *skeptical and unconvinced* “you sure? Cause to me he don’t look so good.”

D- *insistent* “yes, Leo. He’s fine.”

R- *Trying to pacify his two younger brothers* “hey hey, look I know we’re all worried and a bit on edge but let’s all just take a breath and remember we’re all on the same team okay? Besides, I’m sure Donnie’s got it all under control, Right Donnie?”

D- “…”

L- “you’re right Raph I’m sorry Donnie”

*Donnie feels a chill run up his spine*

D- *Defensive and adamant* “No. no! Leo wouldn’t say that. He would have said something snarky like, like… “i dunno Raph it looks like Donnie has it as under control as his fear of beachballs” or-or something stupid and insulting like that!”

*Donnie corrects*

*Donnie takes a breath*

D- *Dejected and forlorn* “Re-restart the system… and update Ai L…”

Robotic system voice- “restarting system with new preferences to Ai: Leo.”

*Donnie flinches at hearing it… everytime… it… it just made the reality of everything sink in again… that… that all of his…*

*that he no longer has any dumb dumb brothers to pick on him… to mess with his stuff… to need his help… to… to need him…*

*Tears stream down Donatello’s cheeks and cling to his jawline briefly before falling into a tiny saline explosion splattering with a faint splat on his desk staggered… a mixture of grief and frustration evident in his eyes*

*knock knock*

“D… Donnie…?”

Ramainder of Me Au Information-

Poison Yokai-

Oleander is a poison yokai, a member of a hated group of Yokai. Poison Yokai are hated and feared by yōkai society seen as “dangerous” and “volatile”. Poison Yokai are abandoned at birth to the poison temple (if not killed upon birth by their parents or others) to avoid the stigma of having “poison blood” in their bloodline. The poison temple exists on the outskirts of the hidden city up along one of the cavern walls and removed from the general population in the hidden city and functions much like a non religious monastery.

(To me this means no family, single person small rooms, a courtyard out front surrounded by stone walls, a inner sanctum where the three poison elders learn, train and teach the younger ones how to control their abilities and not hurt themselves or others, a large library, a communal kitchen etc. I obviously know nothing about monks or monasteries but it’s the best way I can think of to describe the look and feel of the temple.)

The poison temple is funded by hidden city taxes. The temple has a garden and fruit trees and all clothing is secondhand donated. In the temple once a child can fend for themselves (note this is a very bad standard in the temple itself as no one knows how to care for children sufficiently and they don’t have the means to learn about or get assistance leading the members to stop caring for children between the ages of 2 to 6 years old- the exception being older members will make food or wash children’s clothing or clean them but provide no emotional or educational support. The elders do make sure children can read and speak on a base level though) they are left to their own devices. The poison Yokai that live in the monastery do not foster friendships or relationships, they rarely even talk to each other unless they need something. All the current poison Yokai are orphans raised by other orphans. There are about 49 Posion Yokai left and all reside in the temple. Poison Yokai are not permitted to leave the temple unless deemed “safe” by the high council of Yokai and given the permission to leave temple grounds and the sigil that marks them as “safe” to be amongst the general population (though poison Yokai that are allowed to leave find they are unemployable and are refused housing elsewhere leaving them with little choice put to live in the temple) , this sigil is a mystic mark that looks like the symbol of the poison Yokai/temple being a triangle with a toxic flower emblem inside it.

But even with the sigil that marks them as safe any poison yokai outside of the temple is likely to experience extreme discrimination, often not allowed to enter businesses, denied service and sometimes even threatened or attacked by other Yokai out of fear and bigotry towards them.

The hidden yokai restaurant on the surface “Run Of The Mill” run by the serious Spanish Skeleton yokai “Señor Hueso” is one of the few places to not discriminate against poison yokai, thus why Oleander quite loves the place.

Some quick information about the AU and it’s premise-

Remainder of me is a single survivor (of the turtle brothers themselves) AU. The main story is based shortly after the Kraang incident, the Kraang were stopped, but at a cost.

Trigger warnings of the Au- Major character death, Survivors guilt, intense anger and personality changes due to loss, Major depressive disorder, unhealthy coping mechanisms, self isolation, trauma, self neglect, familial neglect, neglect of Friendships, denial of help, escape from reality through fantasies.

Short overview:

Donatello is the only surviving brother after the invasion was stopped. April, Casey Jr, Splinter and a AU original character “Oleander” all survived. The Au focuses on the aftermath of it all and the grief and loss the family has to face.

Note: Donatello has no love interests planned.
