Harry smells something odd in the common room one night and tracks it down to a corner where he finds Hermione applying nail polish. She answers a few questions for him about the how’s and why’s of her doing it. When she mentions she was going to go up to her room and do her toes next Harry offers to help right there instead so they can spend more time together. Ron wanders by just then and demands to know why Harry is messing with, “stupid girly stuff” when he could be doing something important like playing chess instead. Hermione hexes Ron with a 24hr color changing lipstick charm that Lavender and Parvati had been practicing a couple days before in their dorm. From then on Ron just ignores the couple whenever Harry helps redo her nails every week or so. Years later Hermione is ecstatic when she takes an adorable photo of Harry helping their daughter do her nails for the first time too.

Hermione was still lost in the moment., eyes closed. Her first kiss had just ended and it had been with Harry! Intent on savoring the memory, she was very upset when a familiar voice interrupted her from behind.

“Miss Granger? Well, I’m afraid this just won’t do. It’s for the Greater Good after all. Oblivi-!”

Albus found his spell cut short as, without even looking, Hermione’s hand had shot out, wrapped itself in his beard, and yanked his head down to near her shoulder level..

“Just don’t. You are _not_ going to ruin this!” Hermione spun and glared directly into his eyes. “This is where you nod and say, ‘Yes, Miss Granger.’ Are we clear?”

As he started to utter, “Petr-“ she saw his wand moving from the corner of her eye. A hastily delivered haymaker from her off hand resulted in one unconscious headmaster and a warmth spreading from her newly won wand. Deftly caught as it spun out of Dumbledore’s fingers.

“Ok, Dark Lady career path it is. Time to go inform Harry he’s my new chief minion!”

Every year since he first learned his name wasn’t freak, Harry wrote a letter to Santa asking for one thing and one thing only. Someone who would love him and be the family he so desperately wished for. He never could send any of them of course. Even after reaching Hogwarts he’d just address them and add them to a little tear stained bundle hidden deep in his trunk.

December of sixth year Dobby decided to organize the great Harry Potter sir’s trunk after it was left open one morning when Harry was running late to class and the glorious mess inside was revealed. Being the helpful fellow he naturally was Dobby of course arranged for the letters he found to be properly mailed.

Christmas morning found Harry at breakfast in the Great Hall when Hedwig delivered an envelope gaily striped in candy cane red and white. Inside was a letter.

Dear Harry,

It helps if you actually ask in a timely fashion but hopefully this year will make up for the previous missed opportunities.

Happy Christmas,

As Harry looked up from the letter in confusion, he saw Luna affixing a bright sliver bow to Hermione’s hair while chattering about Wrackspurt’s negative affect on the holiday spirit. As Hermione glanced at Harry and shyly smiled he thought that this might just turn out to be his best Christmas ever.

For months now Agent Hermione Granger had been tasked with capturing the latest supervillain, The Owl. Admittedly, she was using more of her skills as an analyst from before she was promoted to a field position but still! She was certain that she had figured out a pattern to The Owl’s robberies and hoped that her prepared trap would catch the criminal. And he was a criminal! He broke the law, stole things, and refused to submit himself to justice. The very definition of crime! But why then was a donation made to a nearby orphanage, charity, or children’s hospital in an identical amount to every heist he committed? Why were no innocents harmed or even threatened during any of his crimes? Why did she have every single one of the hand-carved snowy owl figurines he left as calling cards locked in a hidden cabinet at her home rather than in evidence storage as procedure demanded? And why was her heartbreaking every time she thought of what would happen when she captured her foe?

Harry is working as a curse breaker when he accidentally triggers a trap that turns him permanently female. Hermione is of course the only one she can trust to help educate her as she tries to adjust to her new life. They become roommates to simplify things. Their bond grows stronger as she helps her with the daily do’s and don’ts of biology, hygiene, fashion, and more. One day, sipping wine in front of the fireplace after a shared dinner, the now comfortably feminine Harry asks Hermione why, given how close they’ve shown they can grow, they never got together and dated before her accident.

With a mischievous yet sexy smirk Hermione looks directly into her emerald gaze and says, “Because I’ve known I was a lesbian since I was 8,” and leaned in for a kiss as Harry sat there, stunned.

Hermione and Harry share their first kiss. Both of them having closed their eyes as they came together, neither notices the brief flash of light that marked their embrace.

Over the next few days Hermione is confused and mildly alarmed. All the teachers who regularly take roll in their class, namely everyone except Snape and Binns, have started being very informal with her, calling her only Hermione regardless whether in class or out.

It won’t be until the examiners call Hermione forward for her OWL practicals months later that the mystery is solved. Turns out none of the regular staff was willing to chance Snape’s head exploding if he heard them call Hermione Mrs. Potter.

Hermione Granger had an unusual secret. When she was very young she discovered a magical silver key that, when touched to the cover of a book, would transport her in and let her be part of the story. She would be adjusted to fit the part she wanted to play whether it was hero, sidekick, or just a bit player who got to watch everything from the background. No matter how much time passed in the story she always returned to her normal self a moment after she started the story whenever she left the book. As the years passed the types of adventures she took grew and changed as she did. A series of books about a young wizard who supposedly saved the world as a baby only to lose everything and have a miserable childhood came out. She followed along as they were published. Ducking in once or twice to see what is was like to be a witch. And maybe crushing a bit on the hero. But mostly they depressed her as no matter how many victories he won or how many times he saved the school, he always got sent back to his abusive relatives and his one friend, the red haired boy, regularly abandoned him. She read the last book the day before her 18th birthday and wasn’t surprised that he didn’t even get a happy ending. He died. The bad guy died. But the world didn’t change at all. She felt so bad for the young wizard and wished the writer had been nicer to the character.The next morning she found that her magic key had turned golden overnight. She wasn’t sure what that meant but decided to revisit an old favorite to see if there was any difference. When she exited the book she was astounded! For the first time ever her actions had changed the plot of the book from what the author initially wrote. She checked and even the text in the book had changed. She had rewritten both realities! Her eyes lit with a fierce gleam as she held the key tight. She knew what she was going to do with this new power. As she flipped open her copy of The Wizard and the Stone she prepared herself to be 11 again. She was doing this! She was going to save Harry Potter!

In the Department of Mysteries, as Harry is about to take the prophecy orb, the Ministry 6 suddenly find themselves all find themselves bound and silenced. Voldemort himself steps forth from the shadows. He taunts them, revealing that Snape has helped open Harry’s mind to the false visions on Dumbledore’s orders. Tom levitates Harry and Hermione up in front of him and says, “For some reason the old meddler wants you sacrificed. And as soon as I hear the prophecy and know why I will take great pleasure in killing your mudblood lover before your eyes shortly before I kill you. The 4 blood traitors will make adequate slaves.”

Harry’s eyes locked on Hermione’s. In their last moments Voldemort’s words unlocked one truth for them. They did love each other. At least they knew before it was too late.

All of a sudden they fell to the floor, unbound. As Voldemort’s hand had touched the orb he began to scream and then fell to the floor, insensate. Before anyone could react all the Death Eaters grasped at their Dark Marks and did the same.

Harry gathered Hermione in his arms and held her tight. He took the orb and together they listened to the prophecy. If Voldemort wasn’t the dark lord mentioned then only one other figure loomed large in their lives and had shown himself an enemy of their welfare. Time to gather their friends and figure out how to take down Dark Lord Dumbledore.
