And Curses

“…Blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth. Surely, my brothers and sisters, this is not right!” James 3:10NLT

What are scriptural curses and blessings? Researching these, I discovered how naive I was— insanely naive enough to believe most Biblical referrals to “cursing” meant ‘profanities.’ After all, English profanities are called “curse words.” Embarrassing to say, I’ve taken “Biblical curses” very lightly.

The tithe was initiated by Abraham— pre-Law; Genesis 14:20. ***Ordained in the Old Testament Law; Leviticus 27:32. ***Revealed as a pivotal point of blessing and curses; Mal. 3:8-10NASB “Will a man rob God? …you are robbing Me! …you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with a curse, for …robbing Me… Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, …test Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.” Favorite verses of mine, I never considered the curse therein. Besides, I didn’t consider any scriptures saying Papa God cursed people. He DOESN’T curse and bring harm! Ahh but He IS required by the Law to allow satan to pay with consequences wrong choices.

“…The Lord says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord,” Jer 17:5NLT. Serious curses follow after those who, like the Israelites, in Jer. 17 relied on men. Yahweh wanted to be their God, the One they counted on for everything. No different for us today, going to the doctor not prayer, the bank first, the government first and don’t look to God. We place ourselves in the arena of cursings. Then wonder where our blessings are.

Let us open the personal cursing’s can of worms. Is it cursing a person when we: Gossip? Backstab? Demean? Condemn in disagreement? Pass judgment?

I’ve watched people making serious mistakes in their lives. The “family-friend-emies” set words against them— They can’t ever do anything right. They lie, cheat, steal. Did you see…?

Those people struggled to better themselves, yet fought invisible monsters bringing them to the mistakes’ level—holding them there. Meanwhile “friend-emies” gloated about being right, proving Prov. 18:21NASB “Death and life are in the power of the tongue…” Their words had cursed and killed hopes. James said “this is not right!”

For those who live easy lives unaffected by curses— Could the reason curses doesn’t seem to effect them be— Prov 26:2NASB “…an undeserved curse will not land on its intended victim.”

“Never slander a worker to the employer, or the person will curse you, and you will pay for it,” Prov 30:10NLT. Wisdom says to refrain from slandering anyone.

Have you spoken curses over anyone? I did. Holy Spirit dealt with me on the subject, hence my research. I’ve repented long ago, for everything I thought to be the truth— but Holy Spirit said— ‘didn’t need to be said.’ Then, I cursed all those words I’d said, commanding those words to die and fall idle to the ground, in Jesus’ name. I released any demonic assignments because of my words. Afterwards I commanded demons carrying out the curses to be bound away from the accursed. Last, I began calling down all the blessings of God on those previously accursed people.

Now, I know that no one reading this have never possibly considered or done such a horrid thing. Still, allow Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth, (Jn 16:13). Then decide if you need to repent. With your words will you live on the side of blessings— or curses. It’s your choice. You choose.

PRAYER: Papa God whenever You reveal a truth, it’s because You want to help us grow. Open our eyes Lord to the wonders of Your law, in Jesus’ name I pray.

Silent Reading Everyone has a chapter of their life they'd rather not read out loud, times and testimonies they share humbly with an appropriate few, and a wisdom that only stems from a fool's experience. As tempted as we are to let those pages define or derail us, we have to remember that our story does not end there. If we repented, learned, and grew from that chapter - that's where many of our spiritual journeys began. Not a single page was a surprise to God. He used our broken pieces to not only get our attention but also to create something even more beautiful. Turn the page, keep going, and find peace in knowing that it's your plot twist that aligned you with purpose. your story is far from over, and there is no better time to revise it than now.

Growing up as a child, I had habits I was so ashamed of and I have always thought that I needed to be perfect as a leader so people don't have anything against me but I discovered that our past isn't bad in itself it's what we learn out of it. I can categorically say that great men are made through trying times and tough times. Now, I understand that we are products of our past but we aren't defined by it. It wouldn't look like it if I told anyone that Miracle was once a nightclub dancer, for those in Nigeria and Ghana, I was also once a conductor or mate to public transportation.
