What it's like to be their favourite Human (but not like that).

NOTES: this is a month old draft I found mostly finished and because I feel bad leaving you with nothing here it is 😔 the original title for this was, and I quote, "Rígr using his cult to participate in cult activities that involving culting like he runs a cult." which may or may not be a Kubz Scouts reference 💀

anyway here's the deal, this started as just Rígr but my brain was like "brr" and then I was like "oh ok" and added some more characters (no Ferid we know what he's like already it'd be redundant) AND I KNOW NOBODY ASKED BUT I DID this is for my entertainment not yours /j I refuse to justify this. I cannot justify this. I am a monsterfucker and fangs make everything ten times hotter eat my shoe.

the perks of being in the brotherhood have always outweighed the downsides, though there are many of those to be found just about everywhere. Your current position is one of surprising power, allowing you to ask him about and for anything you want, complain in small talk about something bothering you and suddenly it's gone. Apparently it's a consequence of him finding it…unpleasant…to drink from someone if they're too tense, something about a bitter aftertaste of stress, whatever the hell that means. Still, it means your life involves two things and most of it is downtime, waiting for him to call for you when he grows increasingly thirsty.

at times he allows you to subtly tease him, and he encourages you at times which is ever so slightly strange…but you can never keep it up for long, it's hard to taunt someone for regarding you as a blood slave when he's the one who's a slave to your blood. You have no idea what he sees in you, but he sees something, and it gets you privilege. It's a nice privilege, so you keep your mouth shut when necessary and make some sly comment he suspects is the truth while thinly veiling it as just a jest. He may have heavily modified his body but he's hardly above petty desires of a Vampire.

it's your job to make sure the hungry Vampire is well fed and happy.

he can demean you in unimaginably cruel ways, but he is also kinder to you than most Vampires. It's not a thing of care, nor is it particularly an issue when he decides not to do so and perhaps unknowingly says something rather callous. His value of Humans is superficial, caring more about the fact that they won't revolt if they're given freedom, and so he doesn't mind much when you choose to keep offering your blood to him. A catch in the rules allows this, contrary to Sanguinem's laws against drinking blood directly from a Human within captivity, Russia's law allows it under the guise of it being a consensual thing, even if you receive something in exchange for it.

you always have and likely always will receive something in exchange for it—his way to entice you back.

humans are very greedy, is always the justification and while it's true you're here to be rewarded for the low low price of potential anaemia, that doesn't mean you enjoy hearing about what he thinks of your kind as a whole. He knows recognition from their King isn't enough, in fact he's very aware of that. He started small, in quantity that is, and he was always conscious of the fact you weren't used to any of this. It's his responsibility to ease you into it lest you pull away from your deal, and that means side effects can't be allowed to hit you too harshly until you're more familiar with what that entails. most nights you can sleep it off easily, never straying far from where he left you though you can never seem to find him when you wake up, though it's not as if you couldn't just ask.

you know better than to ask, once your transaction is over you'd best not overstay your welcome, he doesn't like it when you linger.

perhaps the easiest to please though not by any means gentle, because for as easy as he is to please it's not nearly as easy to deal with the aftereffects of pleasing him. You can never get your head straight because he just doesn't know when to stop. It's like leaving a small child unsupervised with a large bag of marshmallows and naïvely trusting them to only eat a few—next thing you know half the bag is gone. He gets bored easily however and when it's not obligatory he certainly is not one to extend extra effort to a mere Human he knows solely for the sake of their blood. Bleh, thinking like that makes you sound full of yourself, it makes you want to laugh even.

he is impulsive and manages to find you at the worst time, conveniently finding it in his heart and never his head to ask permission only after he's already done it…and people say chivalry is dead. He does not tolerate back chat of any kind meaning even if you did so happen to make a fuss he probably doesn't care, and when you're so dime a dozen he also doesn't particularly care if you call it quits. Truthfully he does care, just a little bit. It would be a shame to let you go to waste and have to start all over again building up a superficial relationship with a new little livestock.

he promises not to bite so hard this time, but he promised that every other time as well, and he still hasn't got a handle on his excitement.

he's not overly flowery and gentle, nor is he purposefully rough with you. Since you are willing livestock he grants you benefits unwilling livestock do not get, and you are lavished with praises for your cooperation like a good little lamb. Admittedly he's never strayed from making it hurt, especially if he feels you draw it out too much, which is when you lose your speaking privileges and have to be quiet for the remainder of your exchange. You are rewarded, sometimes, with things he acquires from who knows where, "Anything you want" he says and somehow he gets.

most of the time it's food, for when you feel so tired and lightheaded at times no doubt from these very deals you can't make anything and so you want things you can eat without fuss for a while. He gets you things on the surface sometimes, even if they've been reduced to props and are purely for the nostalgic value of knowing what it's like to hold something lost to the apocalypse in your hands. It's a slightly rarer case he does that however as he doesn't go there for leisure, and usually he lets you decide what you want and brings back something else if he can't get it.

he is quite good to you, as long as you're good for him.

to put it mildly: hell. It's not as if she's completely overexcited and has a bad tendency to lose her sense of self restraint, no, never, what would make anyone think that? …yeah that's exactly what it's like. She treats you something like a ragdoll and likes to play with you in a way, like you're some little mouse she's captured. It could be worse, at least you keep telling yourself that, you've heard from some of the children who have similar arrangements with Ferid about the fact he gives them anything they want from his manor if he likes their blood. You'd think that was great if you didn't also know he's a raging sadist. Chess is…definitely better, at least she doesn't hurt you on purpose.

she doesn't need you all that much, at least able to sustain herself on the amount she gets from you and what the Vampires are given by the state. She's just a bit too much of a glutton to be able to live off the latter alone, though that isn't her fault. You pick up much just by listening and you've noticed little things about her. She's fed and happy after assignments outside of Sanguinem and doesn't need you for a while, but it can also become painful to her if that trip is less than fruitful. She gives you things mostly to keep you quiet about the whole ordeal most especially from Horn, who is to believe she has excellent self-control. You doubt she actually believes that. The extra food is nice though, so you don't have the heart to tell her.

unlike Chess she openly admits the fact she has a Human in her back pocket for when she's especially thirsty, it's a thing of indulgence and a ridiculous sense of self-restriction isn't exactly what she considers worth the effort. While she isn't hesitant to admit it, your activities are a thing of secret, what happens in that room stay in that room, even if it may involve indulging her wants for a little Human pup who readily offers it's blood. Yeah…it's strange. It's not as if she wants you to bark of anything, but her presence and manner of speaking alone certainly has you feeling like a dog.

she does acknowledge you must be compensated, but how is a topic of discussion. You share your want and she assesses the value and tales from you accordingly. You mustn't get away with getting more than what you gave, after all. Though you've seen her scold Chess several times you have to admit she has her own side of mischief, though far less free-spirited. I usually comes to you in the form of little jests and giggles at you and the way you act. You're just so adorable, but seemingly not in a completely endearing way, more like seeing something endearingly foolish right in front of her.

again you feel like she sees you the way Humans see dogs, you're surprised she hasn't collared you yet.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Rigr says this, than the panel immediately after shows his chains stabbing (??) Shinya and Kureto and their demons being wrapped in them. (Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm assuming he's somehow limiting their power. Or restraining them for Guren and Shinoa's squad.) It's definitely been confirmed that Rigr and Urd are working together and Rigr and Guren are working together. Did Urd make the jail not for Rigr, then, but for the demons? Maybe this is a bit far fetched, but they were at one point vampires... (Don't think about it too much...)

How do those chains even work? It seems like one of them stabs into Shinya and then exits out of Kimizuki and Rigr speaks through it??? And Guren's capable of producing them? And Kimizuki can use his coffins to transport them to whatever weird mind world Shikama Doji is??

When Mahiru says that the poison is basically lethal for her and Shinoa, is that because they're sorta kinda demons? They both have some of Shikama Doji's cells or something in them? I should probably reread to refresh my memory. Anyway, I'm assuming this is why she warns Shinoa but not Kimizuki or Yoichi.

Mahiru says something along the lines of the drug giving them control over their demon's hearts. Shikama Doji also pretty much calls their (Kimizuki and Yoichi's) demons his servants. This seems to imply in some way that the demons are only working with him out of some sort of obligation? Rigr also says to "take your demons back from the First."

Guren go take care of your husband god fucking dammit.

Also why is he so pretty stop making the antagonists so attractive-

I think the only reason saito was able to escape was bc the cage which urd created was for vampires specifically...and saito is half cursed gear himself by experimentation on himself which makes his current appearance look like this...i mean his face ..look what happened to this handsome man!?
