short range or long range
It depends on my mood, honestly.
Tactically, long range is usually better. However, in a dungeon corridor or room, you may not need a terribly long range, ergo it’s less important. I have a fondness for both artillery spells and archery (I had considered petitioning for Arcane Archer’s position, but I’m not sure they ever left -- and I kinda saw the problem, given that Arcane Archer was in 3.x an elf-only prestige class and so you’re pretty much just posting pictures of elves [without swords]).
Emotionally, there are times where I really want to use a melee weapon -- a sword of some sort or a glaive (which is really just a sword on a stick), maybe a spear.
If I had to choose between the two, I’d go long range.

Welcome back Squire, may your smitings go well
thank you!
They have a bone to pick with Azarel
Kinda
Azarel wants to journey to Chult with Hanako so that they can finally see if all those books are bs or factual
Is the the place with the dinosaurs?
Is it ok if Synthoceps are my crutch exotic?
Synthoseps isn’t a crutch! It is just OEM gives you a shield upon killing your marked target AND a damage boost. It is not as ugly as it use to be but it still needs a nerf.
ANd while I know Hunter get the short end of the stick with PvP exotics. Wormhusk is getting REALLY annoying in Comp.
So what happens if Eldritch boy becomes canon?
I will throw my head back and laugh.
