Robbin, Hartshill Hayes Country Park.
I don't know if you guys are aware but there is currently a contest at DC where you can enter for a chance to create a new Batman villain. Super cool, right? Well, I entered, but I highly doubt that I will make it very far, so I feel like sharing my ideas for a new Batman Villain here.
Inspiration
One Batman villain that I feel is severely underrated is Punchline. I feel like her concept as a character was super cool, and although she was labeled as a Harley Quinn clone, I felt like she was much more than just that. I loved the way she was able to use the internet in order to just get people to buy into her cause, and how cruel she was, too. She didn't waste too much time on people, and the moment they were no longer useful to her, she would drop them immediately ( or kill them). For my villain, I would definitely want to transfer some of Punchline's traits onto them.
Traits
very internet savvy
can maniuplate people well
Charismatic
She is a really cute girl
she is a clout chaser
Has been chronicaly online since she was 10 years old
Backstory
The idea for my villain would be that this person (let's call her Emmie for now) would be a middling Twitch streamer. I imagine that she would be trying to be a streamer in the same vein as Emiru but failing miserably because she doesn't really try to have a distinct personality outside of being a cute girl.
Emmie, at this point, would be really down on her luck, having nothing going for her in life outside of her Twitch channel. One day, she does a live stream outside, she starts breaking down on stream, venting about her frustrations with her plateauing views, financial troubles, and how lonely and isolated she feels when she suddenly gets attacked by a petty thief. Suddenly, her view count starts exploding, and that, with the combination of the sudden attacker, causes her adrenaline to spike, and she fights him off.
Emmie quickly becomes a popular talking point on the internet, and memes are created about this incident, causing her luck to turn around. Emmie starts getting sponsorship deals and living the life she wants, but she is more than aware that her popularity won't last unless she gets a new viral moment. She goes around trying to recreate the initial incident that made her popular, but people start to catch on to this, causing her to lose popularity. So, in another moment of desperation, she decides to go to a stream in Gotham.
While in Gotham, Emmie gets "lucky" enough to be caught in the crossfire between the condiment man and Batman. Once again, Emmie's views spike, making her realize that if she wants her views to go up in numbers, then she would have to find bigger and badder villains to catch on stream. This makes her stay in Gotham.
Emmie begins her plight on streaming with Gotham's most infamous villains, except they all find her incredibly annoying and avoid her like the plague. She starts losing viewers again, which makes her have another breakdown, this time ending with her accidentally beating someone up. She realizes that if she can't get attacked anymore them she will just create her own dangerous situations and thus begin her path into villainy.
What Makes Her Unique
I feel like what could make Emmie stand out as a villain is the fact that she is very tied to the internet. Since Batman is more or less an old fashion detectve (and a 40-year-old man), I feel like he would be out of touch with the ways of the online world. Emmie would be smart enough to know how to manipulate people on the internet and use it in a way that Batman can't simply due to the generational gap and his lack of knowledge. To put it simply, the crime world is evolving, and not every problem can be fixed with him showing up as Batman or throwing money at it as Bruce Wayne. I think this will also cause Batman to need more help from Robin or Orcale since they would know whow to handle this type of villian better.
I also don't think that Emmie will become a very popular or important character in the Batman mythos, so I want to keep her threat level relatively low. I imagine her being on the same level as Condiment King or Mothman, but she could have room to grow into a more menacing character.
Extra Facts
Emmie did marital arts in her youth
she droped out of college
she is in her early 20's
her parents kicked her out when she droped out of college
her innital costumes would be super trendy, like to the point that they would be out of fashion in a month.
Emmie's real name is Emilia but she goes by Emmie online beucase she though it sounded cuter which would get her more views.
Anyways, what do you guys think? I would love to hear some feedback if you guys think this character could potentially fit in Batman's rogue's gallery. I literally came up with most of these things on the spot so it is not very polished.
How the batfam would comfort someone
Bruce would be a gift giver type. Not necessarily money, but small things. Candy to crying children, food. That sort of stuff. If he found you crying he'd hand you a jolly rancher from his utility belt. Dick would go full 'mother' mode. Asking what's wrong, if there's anything he can do for you. Pull you into a hug and let you cry into his shoulder. He'd tell you it'll all be okay. Jason would just... be there. Not talking or anything, just.. existing in your space. Letting you talk if you wanna, humming along. Maybe a pat on the back. If you asked he'd probably read for you. Tim would try and solve your problems for you. Not in a mean and dismissive way, but in a 'we can and will get trough this' way. He'd sit down with you and make a list. Talk trough it. Damian would get one of his pets to you so you could pet it. Might even grumble something about how they make him feel better. Cassandra would try and get you do a new activity. Picking you up and setting you down so you can make tea, or go grocery shopping. Barbara would be there for you silently, but not in the way Jason is? She'd offer the comfort Dick offers, and she'd let you cry into her shoulder if you want to. She's the most emotionally intelligent out of all of them.
