I know this will sound controversial, but I don't believe that society's obligation to protect children ends even if said child has hurt or even murdered other children.
In almost all cases when a child or young adult has killed or tortured another child, like Robert Thompson and the teenage killers of Shanda Sharer they were all victims of abuse, frequently physical and sexual. This doesnt excuse their actions obviously but a particular type of environment creates children who kill.
Its why it disturbs me to see people call these children "evil", "scum", imply they were born evil or even threaten violence against them. I'm a moral absolutist in that I don't believe violence against children is ever acceptable, save for self-defence, even if said child has killed and tortured others.
Okay I know you said you don't want to answer anymore asks about the James Bulger cause but I just need to say this.
Robert has paid his debt to society, he served his time and hasn't gone on to reoffend or harm anyone else since his release.. rehabilitation worked for him.
do not send me anymore asks like this at all; any asks about james or murders / criminal justice system should go onto my personal as this is not the space for it.
the sentence he got was not justice & he exhibited no remorse for the prolonged torture of a baby, he was solely given a light sentence because of his age which i don't think should be a mitigating factor for these types of crimes.
also, he hasn't reoffended that we know of. there were missed crimes with venables too & i sincerely believe that someone who is capable of doing that as a child, to once again a baby, with malicious intent & forethought, cannot be accepted into our society.
roberts should be in prison right now, alongside venables, for the horrific injustice he committed against an innocent child, that he was the main orchestrator for. instead he got day trips out to parks, football & zoos; all while denise & ralph get to experience nothing but mourning for their lost child.
justice was not served. end of story. you didn't need to say any of this, you wanted to because you believe it makes you morally better to proselytize the "rehabilitation" of a person who tortured, assaulted & murdered a baby, who would then escape any meaningful justice.

"What happened to that girl, anyway?"
"What makes you think something happened to her?"
"Well, look, I - I don't want to get hung for something I didn't do!"
"Meat is hung; men are hanged."
