Blue Fire Announcement Trailer
During a recent Indie World Showcase, Nintendo revealed Blue Fire from Robi Studios. Players will explore the desolate kingdom of Penumbra to encounter survivors, evade traps, and fight enemies.
Blue Fire will release to Nintendo Switch as a timed console exclusive in Summer 2020.
Blue Fire, which was first announced for Switch in March, will also launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam following its debut on the Nintendo hardware, publisher Graffiti Games and developer Robi Studios announced. All versions of the game are due out in Q1 2021.
Originally slated to launch this summer, Blue Fire was delayed “as a result of industry-wide changes due to COVID-19, which have led to some logistical delays in the game’s release.”
“After revealing Blue Fire for Nintendo Switch, the gaming community has been wanting to know if Blue Fire will release on other systems and today we’re excited to share that it will,” said Robi Studios CEO Gabriel Rosa in a press release. “Whether playing on Switch, Xbox One, PS4, or PC, you will need to master movement by learning ways to use it to your advantage, especially during very hard platforming segments that I believe are either very rare or have never been seen in the 3D space.”

So because I bought a backbone I’ve signed up to Stadia Pro, I got Blue Fire as a part of that so I thought I’d give it a bash. You explore a desolate and plagued kingdom engaging in combat with enemies navigating the unstable terrain, entering “voids” and coming across survivors with tasks to gain rewards to upgrade your skills and abilities. If you die it’s game over and you start again which after a few occasions did get annoying and I did have a rage quit here and there but overall I really enjoyed it.
The image has intrigued me about this game for a while now, I’ve never heard of the first Evil Genius but the adverts for this one seemed to be everywhere. It’s a strategy game, you must build your criminal lair building rooms and installing different machinery, ensuring you have enough power to run everything and keeping your workers needs met, also you have a casino as a front for your lair to ward off pesky agents, although you do have to deal with them from time to time. Run scams across the globe and build your empire. I will say is that it’s like sun city with its building element and has idle game elements as you must wait for operations to complete so it’s a very time consuming and immersive game, I lost a few days to it along the way and didn’t even realise how long I’d spent on it.
The PlayStation 4 version of Blue Fire will launch both physically and digitally on July 23 for $19.99, publisher Graffiti Games and developer Robi Studios announced.
Blue Fire first launched digitally for Switch and PC via Steam on February 4, followed by Stadia on June 1 and Xbox One today. The Switch version is also available physically.
