Duke Thomas was a Robin. Though never an official one. He was part of a movement that aimed to better their city in the absence of their Caped Crusader. During his time with the other birds however, he learned exactly how the shared title could change countless lives in meaningful ways. Duke Stan nation I need help, I'm writing a batfam fic and I really want to get Duke right because he is a key character and I love him, unfortunately I suck at writing characters who are actually cool (like Jason is so simple, sure he's badass but he's a dramatic nerd, I'm a dramatic nerd, easy peasy) and I don't have the money to read all the comics, I've read the wiki so I know he's awesome and unhinged but I feel like I don't have him pegged enough to get his voice right, does anybody have any advice/specific strip that embodies him/clue to write him right? Thanks!!!

Finally caught up with Batman Urban Legends #6 and after the complete freakout and celebratory fist pumping, I re-read it and I have a thought I need to get out. 

So.....Bernard Dowd. 

What do we know about him.... He’s big into conspiracy theories involving the Batfamily but also clearly admires what the Bats do.... He clearly knows how to fight (very well, given what happened).... He got picked up by a murder cult because....? He wore a red shirt while doing it.....

Maybe he was investigating the cult and trying to take it down. And if so, why?

This is just a theory but maybe, just maybe....he is part of the We Are Robin movement?

Maybe the poor thing just didn’t think his investigation with the cult would interfere with his date with Tim Drake. Since he probably doesn’t know the Robin Luck and well, if there are two of them it probably just gets worse.

I can’t say if this is in any way true but honestly, I just like it because it means both boys are in for a hell of a surprise in the future. I mean more so than when Bernard inevitably finds out that Tim is Robin.
