When Akasha rose several centuries early, it changed everything. Vampires are the dominant species, but humanity is getting ready to fight back.

IWTV Devil's Minion story arc spec

Several insightful people like cbrownjc (go follow her, her meta is awesome) have speculated that Armand turning Daniel might happen sooner rather than later (potentially still this season) + that they had a relationship in the '70s-80s that ended in Daniel's memories being erased by someone + that the show will hit all the beats of the DM relationship eventually. On the whole, I agree with that speculation as I think it makes sense.

However, putting all of that together, I can't help but think that if Daniel gets turned soonish, the context of his turning will be very different from the books. Even if Armand fully remembers their relationship, still deeply loves Daniel and can't bear to let him die (because why else would he turn him), Daniel isn't there at all emotionally. He fully sees Armand as the enemy right now. In the books, his turning is completely consensual, even though Armand is doing it out of desperation so it's kind of bittersweet. But Daniel is fully into it. And idk, I kinda feel like that's important? If Daniel doesn't recover his memories about their past before he gets turned, I can't image his turning as anything but non-consensual, and it kinda rubs me the wrong way. Not for moral reasons (lol - I am a DM fan after all) but more for reasons that it's almost a reversal of their OG dynamic. They'll be completely out of sync.

Even when Daniel does recover his memories eventually (as I'm sure he will), it wouldn't be narratively satisfying for just that to make him go from loathing Armand to loving him. Memories are powerful, but Daniel has changed a lot since that time. He isn't the same person. IMO they need to earn old Daniel falling in love with Armand on his own. And I just wonder how they're gonna do that with the way they've set things up. Because 2022 Daniel would surely not want to be anywhere near Armand if he gets turned without permission. Not to mention that Daniel canonically goes crazy shortly after his turning. I am trying to see how they could even fit a romance arc in there.

Don't get me wrong, I have faith in the showrunner and writers and I also don't want them to do a beat-by-beat rehash of the books - that would be boring, probably unsuited for the medium of TV, and anyway they already can't do that since they changed Daniel's role and let him age. This is just good fun speculation :)

Anyone have any thoughts?

Finally, I feel like I can pitch my theory.

Firstly, 100% agree it makes no sense to go from what it is now to full DM straight away. It would be completely OOC of Daniel from how he is now. But I do think it happened in the 70s and Daniel was made to forget (By who, I don't have a theory yet. I am leaning toward Armand doing it after Daniel has a near fatal OD but I can easily be wrong)

So personally, I don't think Daniel will be turned this season, nor do I think DM as a romantic pairing will be revealed. I think we may get the start of the chase in the 70s in the last episode, leading into Daniel returning home to write the book, unhappy with the memories and Armand left alone. The next season, they are doing The Vampire Lestat, (which means we don't have to say goodbye to Claudia, since they can do flashbacks from Lestat's POV of her. Yay!) and I think Show Daniel has been primed to take on the role of David Talbot from the books (Since David was older and basically used by Lestat to have a dig at Louis, it would make sense in the tv show, if the chase wasn't happening, he would go to the OG. Don't get me wrong, I love David but I personally believe that Lestat didn't go to Daniel in the books only because Armand wouldn't let him near him) Also, it would be weird in a tv show if the framing device of Lestat's story was just him writing the story down as it was in the book. It would make more sense if he was telling someone and they would be foolish to lose a powerhouse actor like Eric at the end of this season, which they would if they follow the source material.

I think it would be smart to have the next season show Daniel dealing with his Parkinsons becoming more aggressive while slowly reveal the rest of DM, using flashbacks with LBF (Because he needs to come back. He was way too good to be a one-episode thing), while also dealing with Lestat and his story. This could lead them straight into either QotD or if they were brave enough to move the books around TotBT while having DM end game for the third season and Daniels turning after that but not rushing it and making it OOC. If Daniel was dealing with the memories returning over a period of time while dealing with Lestat's shit and getting sicker and sicker, he probably would soften towards Armand's actions by the end of it, just because it could have been so much worse.

Anyway, that's my theory. It may be wrong, since I have been wrong about this show before but that's what I am reading right now. It was fun to tell my thoughts and I hope you enjoyed it :)

So I am totally not reading into things but...... This is part of the official merch for IWTV from AMC!..... A necklace with a pendent..... filled with blood.....?

I know it's almost certainly coincidental but there is one famous instance of a blood pendant in the books. One we have been praying will happen all this season.

Hopefully we see something like this on either Luke or Eric on screen.

Beware - Interview with the Vampire thoughts (and spoilers)!

I am not going to lie, I have found the interview part of this show so much more interesting than the flashback parts (not to say the flashbacks/story isn’t interesting but there is so much going on in the present time scenes) So in my musing, I was wondering why they were doing the Interview again almost 50 years later and I think I have figured it out. I don’t think it is because Louis wanted to set the narrative right (we all know his story is full of holes and he is being controlled. Even he was confused by parts of the story he supposedly ‘lived’) I think it is because Armand wanted to see Daniel. 

Its been years since I read the books but I remember that Armand and Daniel had a seriously toxic and obsessive relationship which drove Daniel to almost die before Armand turned him. In this reality, Daniel was clearly not turned *coughyetcough* but I think the relationship still happened. 

I think at the end of the relationship, Armand was faced with the choice to either kill Daniel, turn him or let him go and in this reality, he chose the last option. He wiped the relationship from Daniel’s mind and tried to set up shop with Louis to forget about him but on learning of Daniel’s diagnosis, Armand decided he needed to see Daniel one last time. 

He manipulated Louis into thinking about the interview again so there was a reason for Daniel to return and he hid out as a servent so he could see Daniel but still have the option to walk away while Daniel didn’t remember him. 

He saw how sick Daniel is getting and knows Daniel doesn’t have long to live so he was trying to spend as much time with Daniel as possible (the prayer scene, the dinner scene etc) and help him by getting him the best medical care. 

I think this reveal has shown Armand’s hand. He has decided he wants Daniel back and is going to allow Daniel to remember him now. (Also, I think he is now remembering how much of a little shit Daniel can be when he is going after something he wants, be it the truth from Louis or being turned because that reveal was insane)

I hope season 2 will go into their past relationship (and not just because of the amazing casting for young Daniel. Seriously, I thought HOD was good casting but young Daniel and old Daniel are spooky in how much alike they are) and I think Armand’s end game is now going to be Daniel. Daniel doesn’t realise it yet but he is no longer in control of his own life (but we know that he is not going to take that laying down.)  

Armand has gotten his claws in Daniel again and I think its gonna be a wild ride from here. Bring on Season 2.

Just a small scene where Aziraphale and Crowley are talking in a pub and those two are in the background, at their own table. A teacher and a goth. No dialogue, no acknowledgement from any of them.

Finally caught up with Batman Urban Legends #6 and after the complete freakout and celebratory fist pumping, I re-read it and I have a thought I need to get out. 

So.....Bernard Dowd. 

What do we know about him.... He’s big into conspiracy theories involving the Batfamily but also clearly admires what the Bats do.... He clearly knows how to fight (very well, given what happened).... He got picked up by a murder cult because....? He wore a red shirt while doing it.....

Maybe he was investigating the cult and trying to take it down. And if so, why?

This is just a theory but maybe, just maybe....he is part of the We Are Robin movement?

Maybe the poor thing just didn’t think his investigation with the cult would interfere with his date with Tim Drake. Since he probably doesn’t know the Robin Luck and well, if there are two of them it probably just gets worse.

I can’t say if this is in any way true but honestly, I just like it because it means both boys are in for a hell of a surprise in the future. I mean more so than when Bernard inevitably finds out that Tim is Robin.
