Guys, I don't want to see the " I see them as sisters " comment or just any hate comments. Like please let people ship peacefully. They aren't actually sisters ( people seriously need to remember this ). They're not biological or adoptive siblings. They are two different people who were born on two different islands with different parents. If you don't like it. Just kindly scroll.
SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!

To anyone who thinks Lenore Dove is a redhead, she's described as having a hint of red in her hair, not red hair. Rachel Zegler was amazing as Lucy Gray but she wasn't Romani and while the Covey are loosely based on them, I think this is their chance to give an unknown Romanichal actress a chance and diversify the film with people who still face severe systemic racism until this day. Many Europeans who claim to be anti racist will have the most baffling racist opinions about them.
I will describe that a bit so,
Trigger warning! I'm going to share some sad facts and experiences with other people

From the 1960s until 2012, Czech Romani women underwent force sterilisations. These people are untrusted, unwanted and cast out by the society, s*xualised at the same time and harassed. Everyone will give you a story of how a Romani person did something to them (as the famous comment I saw on YouTube: "They stole my bucket"). What do people expect them to do to survive when they cast them out? In some countries, they have good lives with racism and in some countries, they live in slums (Serbia). A Turkish guy I thankfully don't know anymore claimed that they shouldn't mix with the rest of us. Horrible, right? When the Romani culture is given the chance to be represented, Hollywood butchers the language and plays on stereotypes or they race-swap/whitewash characters (I'm looking at you, Scarlett Witch). It could help bringing Romani culture to others and maybe fight racism just a little

Casting a Romani actress could also come with problems. More racism and also the Covey aren't Romani, they're loosely based on them. This is a good YouTube short about it: https://youtube.com/shorts/6TF--HdIPHY?si=MCWRGJTsT6c0xJEm (adding it to my bio)
Suzanne Collins is my queen but she had included a review from "The Times" for TBOSAS on her website using the SLUR. I don't know if it's still there
Who am I?
Who does the world see me as?
In North America, I am just another white person. I am invisible. Is this better than persecution?
In Europe, I get heckled, and yelled at, and seen as a criminal purely for not being white. Is this better than being invisible?
Even in America, when I wear my family’s clothes? I get asked if I’m dressing up as a word that was used to murder my family. Is this being invisible?
But I hear about my people being murdered by police in Europe every day.
I do not fit in with my people either. I did not grow up knowing they were my people. I live in America, where we are invisible. But my family only came from Europe two generations ago. I grew up hearing first-hand accounts of murder, and persecution. Is this better than being invisible?
To be seen, it is dangerous. To be unseen is painful.
In North America, I am only ever seen as a stereotype, called by a slur. I have never worn my family’s clothes to school. The only person outside of my family to see me wearing them is my partner, who I consider my family. Is this better than being persecuted?
For years I dyed my hair, ashamed of the dark colour and texture.
For years, I refused to smile fully, despising the shape of my eyes.
For years, I tried to contour my nose, abhorring it’s shape and size.
Is this better than being persecuted?
Who am I?
I am romani.
How does the world see me?
As a “gypsy”, as a fortune teller, as a thief, as a swindler.
As nothing more than a problem that needs to be either solved or ignored.
7.4.2018 Viktoria Berlin - BSG Chemie Leipzig:
Trans romni problems:
Being super self conscious about not knowing how to tie your covering exactly right.
Being kept from certain elements of your cultural practices because of transmisogyny, gender policing, et cetera.
Really wishing I knew more Romani trans girls.
Just noticing that reading posts from Romani cis women my age makes me really self conscious and a little ashamed because trans girlhood is just different and really othering. I didn’t have a boyhood but I still got pushed into certain gendered acts and denied others. Familiya is complicated.
