Terror Birds are an integral part of life on Roshanri. As common or more so then your standard livestock, and horses, the various breeds fill these various roles alongside or better then their real life counterparts.
They are first of all directly based off of the prehistoric terror birds that actually existed (I was very creative with the name, I know), and I’ve always found the period of time in which giant mammals and birds roamed the earth immensely fascinating, as it is generally never touched upon like dinosaurs are. Roshanri in a way is very much like Prehistoric Earth with larger then life creatures, but generally with a more fantastical spin, and the Terror Birds fit directly into this mold.
Now humans are probably the biggest proponents of Terror Birds, as they are perfect for human sized entities to ride. That being said though, the most common variety of Terror Birds on Anri, the Rak are hardy beasts that can hunt for themselves, and have a small hump much like a camel (and directly based off of Emus) that allow them to go long distances with little to no water. They can carry large loads, and defend their owner far better then your average horse, and thus are utilized by travelers Roshna and Humans alike.
Chickens are not something that’s common, which is easy to see when the Kanthal (pictured above) can lay an egg that can feed an entire family every other day, in addition to plowing your fields, drawing your wagons, and even producing the soft downy feathers for your bedding.
And finally, one of my favorites are the Mistrals, too small to be ridden, but with a keen Jurassic World Velociraptor-esque intelligence. I am hoping they get utilized for they are going to be fun, mischievous entities in the city of Hanzah and beyond.
That’s just a bit of rambling about my favorite birdies, more art and writing on them to come soon, and thanks for reading :3
