to end a blood feud – two ancient vampire houses have been at war for centuries; the only way to stop the bloodshed is a binding marriage.
blood purity law – every vampire noble must marry a mortal chosen by the high council to keep the blood fresh.

foretold by an oracle – a vampire seer’s prophecy declared that two fated ones must wed to avert a coming plague.
the prophecy said so – person a and person b don’t even like each other, but apparently the gods of night said “get hitched” or face eternal ruin.
hades & persephone au – person a, a vampire lord of the underworld, abducts/makes a bargain with person b, a mortal or rival vampire, to become their eternal bride/groom.
