RubyDung episode 4: the fall of Moog City
Ages after the first war, the discovery of red stone, and the founding of the first diamond, new waves of humans began to spawn into the world. These new waves were welcomed into Moog and Haggstorm cautiously. Some of the recently spawned humans ventured out further away from spawn and from civilization to establish their own homes and their own lands.
This new wave of humans was creatively named “the second wave”.
The Second Wave created two new nations along the borders of Haggstorm and Moog. These nations were called “Taswell” and “Dreiton”
The world of RubyDung has reached the age of diamond long before this happened. And the process of enchanting was a recent discovery that was being researched heavily in Moog City. Moog and Haggstorm and the many towns within the two nations would often trade goods in exchange for diamonds and emeralds. This lead to many people becoming excessively wealthy and rich. One such person, named: “Emerald Haggeny” was the richest man in all of Moog City. Moog at the time was a democracy, with a council of leaders who represented the many cities of Moog. Emerald was one of these council members, and very quickly he began to transform Moog’s government with lies and bribery. He had managed to appoint himself as the sole leader of Moog and declared from that day forward Moog City would become a glorious “Monarchy”.
Emerald was a greedy man, and he desired for more wealth, more power, and more ownership. He quickly began to send troops out to uninhabited areas to expand the land of Moog. Then he began to send them into Taswell, the neighboring country. Taswell, being a nation only recently created, had very little infrastructure. Taswell’s leader, “Sir Tas”, was unaware of the Moog Troopers attacks until they had already taken half of Taswell. Many cities and towns and settlements were destroyed or captured. The devastating attacks sparked the second Great War in RubyDung.
Haggstorm quickly allied itself with Taswell after hearing news of Moog’s invasion, and sent troops to Taswell to defend the remaining cities and take back the land stolen by Moog.
The technological advancements Moog was so known for had finally begun to show their ugly side, as many machines of death and destruction were built. TNT cannons were used to level entire cities from thousands of blocks away. Dispensers full of fire charges scorched the lands in flame. Piston Crushing chambers were used against captured prisoners of war and those who dismayed Moog’s oppresive laws. The armies of Taswell and Haggstorm were ill prepared to face such mechanical monstrosities and faced many many loses. Before this war, the second wave had increased RubyDung’s population dramatically to 7128. But once these battles begun, the death counts rose to at least 4000, and approximately 500 human souls were permanently lost. (This post explains humans and souls and death).
With the war taking heavy losses and Taswell being almost completely conquered, Haggstorm had to think fast in order to defeat Moog.
Many Moogian immigrants had came over to live in Haggstorm after Emerald Haggeny rose to power. They brought their vast knowledge of redstone with them. Haggstorm quickly commissioned many redstone engineers to design machines and weaponry to assist Haggstorm in the war. With this Haggstorm and Moog were in an arms race. Each battle, bigger, deadlier machines were introduced by both sides. Moog invented a TNT cannon that could reload itself using dispensers. Haggstorm quickly adapted this dispenser reload technology and made TNT cluster cannons that could fire multiple blocks of TNT at once. Moog discovered the slime block and invented the very first flying machines, allowing troops and supplies and bombs to drop into battle from above.
Then, at the battle of Flake Beach, Haggstorm created its most devastating weapon yet. The Rapid Fire TNT Multi Canon, better known as the Omega Canon. As Haggstorm’s Troops bravely crossed the trap filled beach of Flake and fought their way through the defenses of Moog City, Haggstorm’s lead redstone engineering team stayed behind on shore and constructed the canon. Meanwhile Taswell’s troops were attacking Moog City from the other side, seiging the walls with tnt cannons.
Moog City’s oppressive government had crumbled under the pressure of trying to keep the increasingly rebellious citizens in check and trying to manage the war. To nobody’s surprise the rebellion of the people of Moog began to revolt and joined forces with the troops of Haggstorm and Taswell to crush the fascist dictatoeship. However the sheer magnitude of Moog’s army and their far superior enchanted diamond equipment allowed them to keep the innermost ring of Moog City un touched.
Emerald refused to sign any treaties, determined to create his dream empire. If the war was going to end it would have to end with his death and the destruction of Moog City.
Haggstorm understood this, and so, with many of Taswell and Haggstorm’s troops still battling inside the crumbling outer walls of Moog City, they activated the Omega Cannon. It’s rapid fire tech was unheard of and created devastating results. In mere minutes all that was left of Moog City was a shouldering crater.
Emerald and his tryannical government were never seen from again. Taswell was finally liberated, but at the cost of Moog’s destruction. With Moog City in ruins, Moog’s economy plummeted, causing its people to live in poverty and despair. Many of Moog’s people began to immigrate to neighboring nations or left to explore new lands untouched by humanity.
Many many years later Moog was finally at peace again, its ever resourceful citizens finding new ways to renew all sorts of materials. Melons, pumpkins, sugar cane, exp, even gold and iron became farmable resources. With these new innovations Moog began to rebuild itself into the great nation it used to be. Moog City was rebuilt again as Moog City II, an epicenter for all things redstone. All was well again. But still, nobody could forget about the carnage and power of the second Great War. The world was never quite the same again.
