The Island Prince Prolouge: On the Island
In the deepest part of the world, there resides an Island. However, the map never reveals its location; only a lucky few can find the island, let alone sail to it. But one day, the island met its first ever human after a horrendous stormy night.
🏝️
"Oh, dear," sighed a peacock named Vil. "That was a horrible storm. That storm almost took away all my feathers."
"Must you complain?" yawned Leona, a very tired lion. "You already woke me up to warn me about the storm, and now you complain after it's over?"
"Well, you shouldn't be with me if you can't handle my complaining," Vil huffed, shaking his feathers a little. "And you don't look any better. Your mane is messy."
"As if I care, Princess." Leona growled, walking towards the beach. "And my hair is always messy, so it's not a problem."
He wasn't fazed by the broken wooden planks that surrounded the area, and the unusual items that humans used. He wasn't even surprised when Vil went over to find a treasure chest of sorts, full of jewelry that he wore immediately, admiring himself in the ocean's reflection.
What he didn't expect was to hear soft breathing behind a big wooden pole. Leona, against his better judgment, walked over following the sound, and to his surprise, a young human who seemed asleep. Peacefully asleep.
"A human?" He questioned, walking towards the human. "…and he's alive. What a miracle."
"Yes, yes, it's a miracle," Vil repeated, without looking up.
"Vil, come over here," Leona demanded. "This is serious."
Vil rolled his eyes and walked towards Leona, and he couldn't hide his shock at seeing the human boy.
"Is that.."
"A human? Yes. And he's perfectly alive too." Leona answered.
"What should we do?" Vil pondered. "We can't take care of a human, now could we?"
"Unless we find any other humans," Leona snarled, but he looked back at the sleeping boy. "I know it's strange, but we can't leave him to starve and die. We need to help him, even if it means we have to step up."
"You are right," Vil sighed. "My conscious would not allow me! Oh, poor child."
Leona rolled his eyes and carefully put the kid on his back, ignoring the snuggling as he walked away.
🏝️
Ten years have passed since then, and the young boy has grown into Sil. After his awakening, he had no memories of his past, nor his name; a hint was the chest he was found with, engraved with the name Sil. That was his name as he grew in his new forest habitat. He had already adjusted, as he could speak to the animals quite easily.
He was able to live in his new life with his new family.
"Epel! Come on! They're waiting for us!" Sil called out. "You know we can't be late."
"Hey! You're bigger than me," Epel, a red panda, pouted, "You're faster than me."
Sil laughed as he slowed down, humming to himself.
🏝️
Here on my island, the sea says hello
Dolphins are waving wherever I go
🏝️
Sil grinned and waved back at the dolphins, who jumped happily at his arrival. He was well-loved around the island, as each animal, regardless of whether it was from land or sea, was fond of him.
🏝️
There's a song on the breeze
And a home in the trees
Friends I can talk with whenever I please
🏝️
"Come on! Vil's waiting for us!" Sil laughed as he ran into the oasis, watching Rook, a Black-Backed Gull, bother Leona.
🏝️
Here on my island, the playgrounds are great
Slide every slide
And you don't have to wait
There's so much to be seen
From our new trampoline
Finding adventure in our daily routine
🏝️
"I heard about a hidden jewel, deep on this island," Rook spoke, deciding on the adventure.
"Maybe, but I wanna eat first," Epel groaned, rubbing his stomach, "can we do that before we go?"
"Oh, yes, please," yawned Leona, "before I decide to leave you here to find my food."
"Always crude," groaned Vi.
🏝️
Birds and bananas
And comfy cabanas
And shell-covered vases to fill
Coconut glasses
And mint with molasses
And pineapple patties to grill
🏝️
Vil grinned proudly as everyone happily ate the patties, all complimenting the food. After that, everyone was ready for the adventure of the day, Rook leading the way.
🏝️
Here on my island, there's nothing but fun
Vines you can swing from
A nap in the sun
There are mud pies to make
There are branches to shake
Treasures await any road that you take
🏝️
"Ready!!" Cheered Epel, "Me and Sil are going to find that jewel."
"Oh, that's a challenge if I heard one," laughed Vil. "Leona and I are veterans at this work. Best to prepare for defeat, Epel."
"Guys, this is not a competition, but I should wait until we win for you to decide," Sil grinned.
🏝️
I'll take the high path
And I'll take the low path
And I'll take the path through the sky
I'll jump the river
And I'll climb the mountain
And I'll stay here, guarding the pie
🏝️
"Told you," Vil laughed as he held the jewel in his feathers, ignoring Epel's pouting. "Added to my beautiful collection of well, beautiful things. Too bad I can't add myself to it."
"Ugh, you are such a showoff," Epel pouted.
"He did warn you," Leona yawned, "we did this for a living. Of course, we know how to find them."
"That was fun though," Sil laughed and picked up Epel. "We went even deeper than we would've thought. I consider that a win than a dumb jewel, no offense, Vil."
"None taken."
Sil grinned and quickly ran off the cliff and onto the pond below, startling Epel. The others joined, reluctantly and/or happily, diving into the pond along with them, laughing to themselves.
🏝️
Here on our island, the days are a dream
Hanging together, we work as a team
And the magic extends
Through our family of friends
Here on our island, the fun never ends
🏝️
The night slowly formed as the moon and stars arrived. Everyone was ready to sleep to have a great day tomorrow. Sil was already passed out with everyone else, happy. But a shake startled everyone and awakened everyone, almost knocking everyone down.
It was Epel, who was sleep-running. Not a new occurrence, but it was a very bad occurrence, considering the tree branches he landed on shook once he landed. It was a nightmare, Sil concluded as he carefully grabbed the sleeping creature.
"Epel," Sil whispered, "hey, it's a nightmare, you're okay."
Epel flinched as he woke up, panting to himself. He looked up and cuddled against Sil, now with a sad expression on his face.
"Oh dear, another nightmare?" questioned Rook.
"Interrupting my beauty sleep," groaned Vil. "I wish I could be as lazy as Leona. That lion didn't even wake up."
Sil sighed and got up. "I'll take him on a walk. It won't be a moment."
Sil got down and started to walk away, petting Epel.
"I'm sorry," muttered Epel, "I hate having these nightmares about them…"
"Oh, don't worry, I understand," Sil smiled, "I still have nightmares about the ocean at times as well. It's a normal thing, Epel. You don't need to be ashamed about then. But do you know what I do?"
"Hm? What do you do?"
Sil smiled and cuddled Epel on his chest as he looked up at the sky. "I count the stars, and every time I do, I see our stars together and happy."
"Together?" Epel hasped.
Sil nodded and pointed at six particular stars in the sky. "See? There's you, me, Leona, Rook, and Vil."
"Why does Vil get two?"
"Well, you know he is," Sil smiled and petted his friend's fur. "But what should matter is that we are here together, now and always."
"…can you sing that lullaby again?" Epel yawned.
"Of course," Sil grinned, letting Epel get on his shoulders.
🏝️
Sun goes down, and we are here together
Fireflies glow like a thousand charms
Stay with me, and you can dream forever
Right here in my arms
🏝️
"Where did you learn that song again?" Epel asked.
"I don't know," Sil shrugged. "I've always just known it…but I hear someone sing it in my dreams often. Maybe that's how."
🏝️
It's magic when you are here beside me
Close your eyes, and let me hold you tight
Everything that I could ever need is
Right here in my arms tonight
🏝️
"Sing me the other part too?" Epel asked sheepishly, "I like it.."
"Okay," Sil laughed, "but you know I don't remember all the words. But always for you."
🏝️
La la la
La la la
Stars begin to climb
La la la
La la la
La la la la la
La la la la la
🏝️
Sil grinned happily as he heard Epel snore on his head.
"Good night, Epel." Sil grinned and walked back to the three, resting Epel in his makeshift nest and petting him.
In the distance, Sil saw something big that swayed side to side on the waters. He just managed to make it, but he didn't know what the mysterious figure was. But he wanted to rest his head and close his eyes, dealing with it in the morning.
But that was a bad idea, as he witnessed a nightmare he had had for years, ever since his rescue. He found himself sinking in the waters below, struggling to breathe as he tried to surface every moment, a ship in the distance being his only source of light. He also heard a voice calling out to him, but it was muffled, making it impossible for Sil to understand.
It caused him to wake as the daylight hit his face.
"Wha…"
"Another boat?" yawned Leona.
"What?" Sil questioned and went down to Leona to see. "A boat…I saw that last night. I couldn't recognize it, it was so far."
"I wonder why it's here." Vil scoffed.
"Maybe we should look?" Epel gasped, running towards the boat.
"Epel! Wait!" Sil gasped and ran after him.
🏝️
The boat was at the shore, with four people now leaving footprints on the sand. Each person was different, and each had an odd reaction to being on the unknown island.
The first one was Prince Ruggie, who was unsurprised. He was a prince of a small island, so being on one wasn't much of a surprise, and he knew how to navigate around the island and was marked as the guide in the expedition.
The second was Ruggie's betrothed fiancée, Prince Riddle Rosehearts, who was the only one who was unfamiliar with the area. However, he was convinced by his mother to bond with Ruggie, as they were to marry by the end of the month. Riddle wanted to object, but couldn't, given his mother's authority.
The third was Prince Malleus, a young prince known for his adventurous spirit. It was uncommon when King Lilia, the fourth visitor, invited him. They were close when Malleus was a young dragon, and they continue that bond. Malleus was the one who recommended traveling in the first place, as a bonding experience.
But he knew why he did it. King Lilia was the only adult on the expedition and tried to be chipper despite a tragedy that had occurred nearby, hiding his discomfort with a smile every time he was asked if he was okay. Malleus knew this and ensured that Lilia was prepared for being on a boat. Lilia managed himself, which helped Malleus calm down.
So, these four looked at the island in front, with Malleus as the lead, followed by Lilia.
🏝️
Nothing beats a brand-new shore.
Streaming into view
After weeks of the waves
The thrill of somewhere new
All the riches of the world
Can't compare to these
Golden sand and silver clouds
The fragrant island breeze
🏝️
"And he;s off," Lilia laughed, "Ah, Malleus. Even now you wonder off."
"And I'm worried it was a habit of his," Ruggie muttered to himself, watching Lilia follow Malleus deep into the woods.
"Should we follow them?" Riddle pondered.
"Yeah, just in case he does get lost. I don't think he can survive this island," Ruggie laughed and walked forward.
🏝️
What will I discover next, it's all a mystery
Different every day
There's so much to do and learn and touch and hear and see
Just a step away
🏝️
Sil looked at them from within the bush, now curious. He walked closer to them to get a better look at the new people, but the animals did not share the same response; now they were annoyed, worried, and beyond afraid.
🏝️
It has no trunk
It has no tail
It's not a fish
It's not a whale
It has no feathers, I can see
I have to say, it looks like me!
It must be bad
It can't be good
Let's run and hide
I think we should
Just close your eyes, it goes away
This doesn't happen every day!
🏝️
Sil immediately went towards the strangers for a much closer look; even the trees didn't carry him carefully. But he managed to see who and remembered the features.
🏝️
Feeling the excitement grow
Every single stride
Sun above and earth below… whoa!
🏝️
Sil gasped as the humans fell down a massive ditch, and he rushed down, knowing what awaited them below.
At the bottom, Ruggie groaned, looking at the swamp-like area. "Well, I had worse pitfalls in my life. Being covered in dirt and almost in mud is not that bad."
Riddle quickly helped Ruggie up, "My bad, I wasn't looking where I was going,"
"Ah, happens to the best of us, I'm sure," Lilia chuckled, stretching his back. "That's part of the experience of traveling, I'd say."
Malleus looks around, now walking around.
"But I saw something in the trees," Riddle admitted. "It was a someone. Not an animal, per se, but…a person?"
"But this place has been abandoned for years," Malleus spoke up. "It has been said that no humans have been on this island. If this place wasn't discovered, why is there a human here?"
"I know what I saw, Draconia," Riddle scoffed.
"Hmm, understandable, Riddle,"
A snarl was heard, which made Ruggie's ears twitch at the vibration. His eyes scanned the forest area, and three pairs of eyes glared at them from the darkness. More snarls were heard as their eyes went closer. Ruggie, now with everyone else, watched and backed up from the newly found crocodiles.
"Did we fall into a crocodile pit?" Lilia whispered.
"Oh, what rotten luck," Riddle groaned. "I knew exploring was a bad idea."
"You didn't protest when we entered the boat," Malleus mentioned. "And frankly, no one could have planned this. Island trips can be unpredictable. Knowing this mysterious island, this was bound to happen."
"I suppose you are right," Riddle took a breath. "Sorry about that."
"No worries..but how do we get rid of the crocodiles?"
The one in the middle snapped his jaw, ready to eat the legs in front of them. The rest started snapping, trying to eat anything close to their mouths.
"Excuse me?" Called an unfamiliar voice.
The group watched as an unknown silver-haired boy swung forward onto a rock, looking down at the crocodiles, and crossed his arms.
"Gwendolyn," he lectured the crocodile by Riddle. "Is this how we treat guests? Especially ones who entered your home?"
The crocodile, Gwendolyn, growled sadly in response.
"How is he…" Malleus gasped.
"Geo, don't," the stranger lectured again.
A snap made Lilia jump as the crocodile swam away, upset.
Ruggie glared at the third one, but he was relentless until the stranger came by and petted the crocodile. This made the crocodile smile and groan happily.
"Nice to know you still love pets, Georgio,"
Ruggie took a moment, actually, to look at the stranger. Silver hair that was rare and beautiful, paired with purple eyes that were soft towards the cranky crocodile, and a matching smile. He must've been here for years, Ruggie concluded, especially when he didn't have clothes. But it was still early to ask.
The group was stunned as the crocodile backed away and slid back into the murky waters. The stranger smiles and looks over at them, standing up,
"I apologize," he spoke up. "They can be hungry when seeing something new. I suppose I did forget to get them some of the mangos I have found."
"No, no," Lilia stammered. "I appreciate that you have saved us from being eaten."
"I only did what I could. I understand how they can be odd to new friends, and don't know how to express themselves."
"That begs the question," Malleus questioned. "Who are you?"
🏝️
"Sil? That's your name?" Ruggie asked, looking at the newly discovered chest they had seen in the tree.
"I suppose so," Sil answered with a soft chuckle. "It was the only clue we have about who I am."
"So, you have no memory?" Riddle pondered. "How long have you been here?"
"I haven't been keeping check," Sil shrugged. "But it was for a long time, I'm guessing. Just not knowing about who I am was never something I thought of, but now you guys are here."
"But I feel we are ignoring a big thing about you," Ruggie spoke up. "You…talked to the crocodiles, like it was nothing."
"And you guys don't?"
"I can," Ruggie noted, pointing to his ears. "'Cause I am part beast, it's natural, but a mere human like yourself couldn't."
"Hm, that is odd." Malleus hums. "Humans such as you could never have powers like that, unless it's been self-taught."
"Really? I simply woke up with this." Sil remarked. "Ever since I woke up, I have been talking to my friends since then."
Everyone went silent for a moment, now confused about this mysterious man and his connection to this abandoned island. Lilia took a breath before walking over.
"Well, since you saved us, how about we get acquaintance with your friends?" Lilia asked.
"Yeah, but mind you, they haven't seen a human in years, or they have never seen a human before. So, I apologize if they are a bit defensive."
Sil smiled and walked through the trees to meet up with the group of animals that he called his friends.
"Are you okay?!" Vil immediately questioned, checking Sil for any wounds. "Ugh, you need to stop going off like that. My feathers can't handle all that stress, you know."
"I'm sorry, Vil, but I couldn't let the crocodiles eat them. As far as I'm concerned, they're innocent. And you know how the crocodiles get hungry when we miss their feeding schedules. So," Sil paused for a moment before frowning. "So, who forgot?"
"Wasn't it Leona's turn?" Epel pondered and looked at the yawning lion.
"Hmm, was it? I had no idea," Leona yawned. "I was simply taking a nap."
Sil sighed. "We really need to find a way to remind you, Leona."
The others watched in amazement.
"He's…he's having an actual conversation with them," Riddle gasped. "Like…talking to them."
"Yeah, he is," Malleus added, and smiled. "This is such a marvel."
"But what should we do with this?" Lilia asked, looking at the others. "I mean, he's a human who lives among animals, and I do worry for his development."
"What's your plan?" Malleus wondered.
"You know what," Ruggie spoke. "Should we take him with us?"
The red panda's ears sprouted up, and he rushed over to Ruggie with his angry look, jumping up and down in protest.
"No! No! You can't take him with you, you mean humans!"
"Whoa! Epel!" Sil gasped and grabbed him. "It's okay, they're not going to take me away."
Ruggie's ears twitched, "Hmm, well, I guess that's options over."
"Well," Sil hesitated. "I don't mind the suggestions, but I can't leave my friends here. They'll miss me."
"Oh, how true that is," Rook sighed. "We would miss him ever so dearly."
"Then we can take them with us," Lilia recommended. "I mean, the kingdom shouldn't mind it. Especially since I am part of the royal committee, I can convince them."
"Lilia," Malleus sighed. "You always use the committee to get your way, especially these days."
"Your grandmother always helped me with those votes, and even your young mother, bless her heart." Lilia laughed. "And doesn't the Kingdom of the Sunset Savana have beautiful scenery for him to stay in?"
"…Yeah, we do. And my grandma' loves new guests."
Sil looks at the animals, "Well, are you guys okay with this? It's a big ask."
"Well, I don't mind," Rook smiles. "I have been all around the world, and teaching you about the sights would be fantastic."
"Well, I'm not leaving you by yourselves!" Vil added. "You guys are reckless, and someone as mature as me should come along, and of course, Leona, you have to come too."
"Ugh," groaned Leona. "Fine. But I am not doing anything."
"Since when do you do?" Epel muttered before looking up at Sil. "I wanna come too! To protect you, Sil!"
Sil smiles and pets his head, "Thank you, Epel."
"Well, what do you say? Want to come with us?" Lilia offered.
Sil looked back at the ship and nodded. "Yeah, I'm ready."
Once Upon A Dream (Silver x Ruggie Rewrite)
Silver couldn't help himself. He had such a wonderful dream, and the only friends he could tell were his animal friends. After class, it was a free period, so Silver decided to go to the back of the school, where his friends waited patiently for him.
"Good Evening," He greeted as he sat down. "I have something to tell you."
The birds chirped, letting Silver look around before whispering.
"I had the dream again."
The birds chirped happily, knowing what Silver meant, and urged him to continue.
"It was a wonderful dream," Silver swooned. He and I were dancing in such a beautiful dreamscape! And we embraced, saying, "I love you." Silver smiled to himself and looked at the birds. And then, that's when I woke up."
The birds chirped in protest, annoyed that the dream ended so quickly. Silver laughs and pets one on the head.
"I know you're disappointed, but it's all I ever wanted in a dream.*
As Silver began to talk about his day, he heard the bunnies and squirrels squeak happily behind him. To his surprise, the animal were dressed in a school uniform but the animal specifically designed it to look like Ruggie Buuchi's uniform.
Silver smiles as he gets up. He knew what the animals wanted from him, and who was he to deny them such a beautiful moment?
"Hello, Ruggie," Silver pretended. "Sorry to intrude but I was hoping to have a small dance with you?"
The birds chirped happily, making the suit bow along, and Silver started to hum, his imagination reflecting his dreams.
💚
I know you
I walked with you
Once Upon A Dream
💚
Silver began to dance with the magical clothing as he sang more, and the animals enjoyed this grand show of Silver's affection.
💚
I know you
The look in your eyes are
Familiar a gleam
And I know it's true
That visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you do
You love me at once
The way you did
Once Upon A Dream
💚
Silver begins to harmonize, his lovely voice echoing in the woods. A certain Hyena's ears peeled at the sound and couldn't help but follow it.
Imagine his surprise when Ruggie sees Silver dancing with his animal friends, who had the gull steal his clothing like that. But it doesn't even matter when Silver's voice echoes a beautiful melody. It is hypnotizing to Ruggie, and he has to step forward and get rid of the competition first.
So sneakily, he grabbed his clothing and puts them away with Silver being none the wiser.
💚
And if I know you,
I'll know what you'll d
You'll love me at once
The way you did
Once Upon A Dream
🧡
Silver gasped as turns to see Ruggie, who was holding his hands with his usual smile.
"Oh…I didn't think to see you here," Silver stammered, looking away.
"Really?" Ruggie teased. "What did you think what going to happen when you sing like an angel?"
Silver huffs and looks away, blushing. "Well, I didn't expect you to hear it."
"And why not?" Ruggie laughed. "Well, should we continue?"
"Continue?"
"Yeah.*
Silver looks away, blushing, but Ruggie knows that's just Silver being a little stubborn. Ruggie knows precisely how to break that stubbornness, especially since Silver was so adorable at that moment.
🧡
I know you
I walked with you
Once Upon A Dream
🧡
Silver began to hide behind the tree to hide from its embarrassment, but he should have figured that Ruggie was relentless, grabbing his hand and leading him into a dance.
It broke Silver out of his embarrassment, and it turned into a fondness for the hyena.
🧡
I know you
The look in your eyes are
Familiar a gleam
🧡
Silver's heart starts to melt as the two begin to dance, just like in his dream. It was like, in that instant, they were the only ones alone in the woods and no one was there to interrupt this special moment between them.
🧡💚
And I know it's true
That visions are seldom all they seem
But if I know you, I know what you'll do
You'll love me at once
The way you did
Once Upon A Dream
💚🧡
Once they concluded their dance, they ended with a single bow before interlocking their hands. They began to rest by a nearby tree, with Silver resting on Ruggie's shoulder.
"Silver?" Ruggie whispered.
"Hmm?* Silver looks up.
"I love you." Ruggie blushed, holding his hand.
"I know," Silver smiles, squeezing his hand. "I love you too. I just wish this wasn't a secret from everyone."
"Well, you know your housewarden, and I know mine. They would be upset at us if they found us out." Ruggie groaned. "I mean, our dorms have been in some sort of war since Leona and Malleus were first-years. Nothing we could do about it now other than letting it slide."
"I know. I understand that," Silver sadly remarked. "I just wish it didn't have to be this way."
"Hm, it'll get better," Ruggie promised. "Just wait just for a little longer."
Silver nodded and let a small yawn, his eyes slowly closing. Ruggie, noticing this, began to move Silver close to him, making Silver sleep on his shoulder without any objections. Ruggie watched with the ultimate form of love in his eyes as he borrowed a nearby blazer to use as a blanket for Silver.
"I love you," Ruggie repeated, kissing his forehead. "And I should thank you for forgiving me after what happened between us, even when I knew I didn't deserve it, And letting us be us again. No matter who tries to stop us now, I'll keep on loving you, even to the end of time, as cheesy as it sounds."
The Magic Paintbrush Act One: The Village
Silver gasped at the village below him. It was full of life, and Silver rushed down towards the entrance, paying no villagers any mind. He watched as butchers chopped meat, artisans clanked on metal, creating sparks in the air, and how the baker just took out a nice sheet of bread just out of the oven.
"That smells lovely," Silver whispered. "I didn't know the village was so lovely. Why did Crewel never tell me about it?"
As Silver continued to walk, he saw children giggle and play together. He managed to see everything he'd never thought he'd see, and now that he was here, he was ready to see everything that the village had to offer.
"Is Silver ok?"
"He's fine," Yaz reassured, his ear twitching. "He's only been gone for ten minites, Malleus. You worried to much."
"Oh, I can't help it," Malleus sighed. "I know Silver can protect himself but you know he and I were here since infancy. We are brothers in a way."
"I know, I know," Yaz yawned. "But you are worrying about the wrong thing entirely."
"Whatever do you mean?"
"Your grandmother's coming back and she's looking for you."
Malleus groaned as he and Yaz walked outside to see a massive dragon swoop down onto the ground, her wings creating a gush of wind before landing. Malleus watched as his grandmother reverted into her human form, her cold eyes staring at Malleus.
"Good Evening, Grandmother," Malleus greeted.
"Good Evening. I suppose today is the day you will join me?" Mistress asked.
"You know why I cannot."
"You have no intiitve," Mistress snarled. "You care to much for that human boy."
"You asked me to take care of the human boy, and he has a name," Malleus argued. "His name is Silver and I do not want to leave him."
"We have an opputinity to leave and return to our home, and yet you choose to stay in this prison?" Mistress pondered, agasted.
"I have no clue of this kingdom you keep mentioning, Grandmother. This place is the only home that I have ever known, with all the people I love, and yet you do not feel the same?"
"..I lost my home long ago," Mistress spoke, walking past her son. "Your mother would be so disapointed in you, Malleus."
"I barely know my mother as well," Malleus sighed, walking towards the gardens. "It's only you who remembers her so fondly."
"Hey, ignore her," Yaz reassured. "She just doesn't understand the value of family like we do, Malleus. She barely smiles, huh?"
"Not around me," Malleus answered, watching his grandmother walk away into the house. "Not around me."
Silver didn't know how it happened, but he was in the garden area, with beautiful trees that bloomed flowers and apple trees sprouted happily, ready to be picked and eaten.
A neigh of a nearby horse caught him off-guard as he saw a horse ride in with three children on the back. One of them jumped off, looking up at the horse.
"See, I told you she was hungry," pouted a blue-haired boy. "Poor Rosalinda, she needs something to eat."
"I thought we had her an apple," a redheaded boy sighed. "I hope we have an extra apple."
The two stared at the third boy, who was about to bite on an apple.
"What? I was about to share," The boy chuckled, giving his apple to the horse. "There you go. I think there should apple trees around her."
"I found one!" Called the blue-haired boy as he rushed forward.
But before he knew it, the boy fell down a hole as the leaves flew high.
"Deuce!" The boys cried and rushed to the boy's aid.
Silver gasped as he rushed over. He bent over to see the boy, Deuce, holding onto a large tree branch, trying not to look at the obvious spikes on the bottom.
"Hold on!" Silver called out.
"I'm getting help!!" The third boy called as he quickly rode away on his horse.
"Hurry, Epel!"
"Deuce, I need you to grab my hand," Silver instructed, reaching his hand out towards the young.
"I-I don't know if I can," gulped Deuce.
"Just look at me, ok? I'll grab you, I promise." Silver reassured.
Deuce, with no other option, began to reach his hand out towards Silver's. Though he struggled, Deuce managed to reach his hand enough for Silver to grab it and pull him up. On the way up, however, Deuce slipped onto the ledge, which also caused Silver to fall forward until another pair of hands grabbed onto Silver, pulling them both up.
Silver turned over to see a hyena beastman, who Deuce hugged almost immediately, scared.
"It's ok, bud," the beastman spoke fondly. "You're safe now, and it's thanks to this kind stranger."
"No need to thank me," Silver panted. "It's what anyone would've done. Are you alright, Deuce?"
"…Mmhm," Deuce answered.
"Alright, I'll take you back to your mom; she must be worried about you." The beastman cooed before getting up. "I mean it, though; thank you for saving the kid."
"Well, if we are giving thanks, I thank you for saving me," Silver smiled.
"No problem. But are you sure you don't need anything in exchange?"
"No, barely. I was just very happy to help out whenever I could." Silver chuckled. "I never seen a beastman before."
"Ha, there quite a lot in this kingdom," The beastman explained.
"What happened here?"
"Another trap. From Blair Valley," Epel explained.
"I knew it!"
"Ace," sighed The beastman. "Yes, that kingdom and ours have been at war for years at this point. It's quite a shame, though; we have to deal with those things every day."
"Everyday? I'm sorry about that."
"Don't be. It's just our way of live now." The beastman spoke and turned over to Silver. "So, what's such a beautiful person such as yourself doing here?"
"Me? Well-"
"Hey! Epel! It's my apple!" Ace huffed.
"No way!"
"Uh, excuse me for a bit?"
Silver laughed, watching the beastman turn to the kids again before hearing the bell ring. The dawn was almost approaching, and that meant that Crewel would wake up anytime soon. Silver looked back at the beastman before rushing away, running across town, unaware that he was being watched by an ebony crow, who grinned as he flew away.
"Oh, where did he go, Ruggie?" Deuce asked.
"I don't know," Ruggie shrugged. "Shame, I have't even asked his name yet."
"Maybe he'll be back," Ace theorized.
"I sure do hope so, Ace, but now, let's take you back to your parents," Ruggie spoke. "It's almost time for supper."
Crewel fixed himself in the mirror as he heard a crow behind him. His eyes narrowed, and his lips were pressed as he watched a crow enter the room, enticing the barks of Penny and Peggy before a delicate shoe stepped down onto the ground and an evil grin.
"Crewel? How was your nap, my darling?"
"Crowley, I hope you have a good reason to enter by bedroom without making yourself known."
"Oh, I do," Crowley grinned as he took Crewel's hand to kiss it. "I saw your little boy rummaging around the nearby village."
"Silver?"
"Indeed, and I saw him talking with a beastman, a hyena beastman," Crowley continued. "He was beautiful, but not only beautiful…"
"He was the most handsomest beastman I have ever seen," Silver swooned, sitting down on his bed.
"Granted, you never met such beastman before," Yaz said.
"True," Silver smiled. "But he was so gentle and sweet with children. It was so different than what Crewel talked about."
"Well, do we get to know the name of the very person who made out Silver so flustered?" Malleus teased.
Silver sighed as he plumped down on the bed. "I didn't even ask for his name."
"Way to go, lovebird," Yaz replied sarcastically. "You flunked it."
Silver rolled his eyes and smacked Yaz with a pillow.
"Well, someone sounds happy after today," Crewel spoke, his voice cold. "How was town, Silver?"
"Crewel? How?"
"No need to sweat the details," Crewel sneered. "Now, I heard you met someone? I know that feeling, the love you feel for the very first time."
Silver tensed up but kept it to himself. His eyes turned slightly to the window to see Crowley in his crow form, an evil smirk on his face.
"That snitch," Silver muttered.
"Now, Silver, since I feel nice, I will only ask you this once and I expct an answer," Crewel started. "What is his name."
"I…I don't know his name, Crewel," Silver replied.
"..Silver, do not think my patince should be played with," Crewel frowned. "I ask for a name, and i expect a name."
"I don't know." Silver replied again, more assured.
"Lying, are you Silver?"
"Why does his name matter so much?" Silver asked.
"Hmph, Silver, I am giving you one last chance. What is his name?"
"Did you hear him?" Malleus spoke. "Silver said he doesn't know."
"Continuing to defy me? Fine, I'll make you talk."
Crewel's cold eyes stared at Yaz before lifting him into the air, in an attempt to squeeze the life out of him.
"Wha…?!"
"No! Put him down!" Silver demanded.
Crewel snarled and moved his hand away, letting Yaz fall onto the ground. "I suggest you and dragon leave. I have to make sure Silver gets punished his behavior."
Yaz quickly got up and looked over at Malleus. Both wanted to object, but they knew what Crewel was capable of, so with no other choice, they rushed out of the room.
"Silver, since you think lying will help you…"
"But I am not lying!" Silver defended himself. "I never learned his name! And You need to stop this! I am not a child anymore, and you can't keep me away from the world forever!"
Crewel grinned and took Silver's chin. "Oh? Watch me, Silver."
Silver gasped as Crewel cast a spell, which caused the room to elongate and grow into a huge tower. Silver rushed towards the window, looking down at the ground below him, and there was no more door from which to leave.
"You…"
"That'll make you think twice about lying to me." Crewel spoke as he walked past Silver, getting on the window. "Oh, I almost forgot one more thing."
Crewel raised the paintings and art supplies around his room before magically crumbling them into dust. Silver rushed towards his now broken paintings as Crewel flew away on his dragon's back.
"…I…." Silver whimpered and began to cry. "…Why…?"
Swan Lake Act One: The Dance
Silver blushed to himself as he and Ruggie leaped onto the rocks, the breathtaking landscape of the lake unfolding before them. The humanized animals danced around them, one of them presenting Silver with a stunning bouquet of roses, adding to the enchantment of the place.
"Beautiful as you, hmm?"
Silver laughed and glanced at Ruggie when, suddenly, little sprites flew up, circling the duo and transforming their attire into something magical and perfect for the date night, much to their delight.
"Come with us," Rook grinned, leading the two toward a beautifully decorated table full of delicious fruits and nuts. The anticipation of the perfect feast for two beautiful lovebirds filled the air, making the moment even more exciting.
"Wow, they certainly know how to serve." Ruggie complimented, taking Silver's hand and sitting down at the table.
"Yeah, they do," Silver blushed, looking at Ruggie.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the shimmering lake, the enchanting atmosphere transformed into a spectacle of soft twilight colors. Silver and Ruggie, hands intertwined, stepped away from the beautifully decorated table, drawn in by the gentle music playing from the forest, soft and inviting. It was as if the very stars had joined in, twinkling above them in harmony.
The little sprites danced around, creating wisps of light that illuminated the path as they led the couple to a clearing near the water's edge. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, mingling with the scent of fresh fruit as the remnants of their feast lingered delightfully.
"Shall we?" Silver suggested, his heart racing with excitement as he turned to Ruggie, who nodded with a radiant grin.
As they began to sway, the music transformed, becoming more melodic and inviting. They moved as if choreographed by the night itself, merging laughter with gentle movements. Silver's cheeks flushed with a rosy hue as he let the rhythm guide him while Ruggie matched each step with enthusiasm and grace.
"Just like this," Ruggie said, pulling Silver closer. The tension melted away, replaced with the sheer joy of being together. The world around them faded, leaving just the two of them and the enchanting melody.
They twirled and spun, sometimes lost in laughter as they stumbled but always finding their way back to each other. Every movement felt more fluid than the last, and as they danced, the sprites twinkled around them, casting a magical spark that made the night feel alive.
Silver, breathless with joy, caught Ruggie's gaze. "You're amazing," he said, his voice barely above a whisper, yet it echoed in the still night.
"Not as amazing as you," Ruggie replied, his eyes sparkling with affection. Their hearts beat in time with the music, unyielding, as they danced until the stars began to fade.
As dawn approached, the sky transformed into a canvas of soft pinks and gold, announcing the arrival of a new day. Yet they couldn't bring themselves to end this incredible night. They slowed their movements, savoring the final moments of their private celebration, holding tightly to the magic they had created.
Finally, as the first rays of the sun peeked over the horizon, they came to a stop, wrapped in each other's arms. Ruggie rested his forehead against Silver's, both of them breathing heavily yet filled with an overwhelming sense of joy and connection.
"I could dance with you forever," Silver admitted, his voice filled with a warmth that matched the sunrise.
"Then let's make every moment count," Ruggie replied softly, sealing the promise of countless more dances to come as they watched the dawn break together, a perfect end to a night of enchantment.
"But you know why we can't," Silver whispered, pulling away. "The dawn is fast approuching and once it hits the lake, I'll be a swan again."
"What if I take you with me?" Ruggie suggested. "You don't have to worry about Levan and everything else."
"But if I leave, Levan wouldn't be defeated." Silver affirmed. "I'm staying, Ruggie.."
"Then I'm staying with you," Ruggie concluded.
"No, please, Levan will transform you," Silver pleaded, taking Ruggie's hand. "I wouldn't handle the guilt if that were to happen to you."
Ruggie looked back at Silver and sighed, taking Silver's hand to his face.
"Promise me that you will be ok?" Ruggie whispered.
"I promise and tell my family at the bakery. They must be so worried about me." Silver promised.
Ruggie nodded, forcing himself to let go of Silver's hand, watching him and everyone transform into their respective animal forms.
"Come tomorrow night," Ruggie pleaded. "A royal ball."
"…I…I will," Silver hesitated. "I promise."
Ruggie watched as Silver turned and flew away, and he had to stay strong, so with a heavy heart, he turned away, promising himself to save Silver from this unfortunate curse.
🦢
"Man, what kind of bookkeeper I am if I can't find the Book of Forest Lore, hm?" Lilia yawned, resting on his chair. "I can't let Silver down now. Ugh, what's with this foresaken chair?"
Lilia groaned as he got up, looking down. His eyes widened as he saw the Book of Forest Lore, which was placed directly on his chair as if it belonged there.
"There you are!" Lilia cheered. "Haha! I knew I had this whole time. I should get this to everyone before I forget."
Lilia quickly jumped down off of his desk before rushing out of the library, unaware of a glaring crow that spied him. With a soft caw, it flew away toward the darkest parts of the forest, where Levan patiently awaited him, letting the crow land on his hand.
"It seems that Lilia found the old Book of Forest Lore," Levan chuckled. "Lilia, you have always been so loyal to Mallenoa and me; oh, how I missed those sweet times for us to be together. Why did you join Malleus's side anyway? Did he looked to much like Mallenoa for you not to? I question your poor logic, Lilia Vanrouge…but no matter now. Once I have that book, I can learn how to steal that precious jewel and use it for myself."
🦢
"I can't believe you almost lost it," Malleus muttered to Lilia.
"It's not like I didn't lose it," Lilia huffed. "It was a simple misplacement of it. Be lucky that I found it."
Silver chuckled. As he placed the book on his lap, the crystal glowed, allowing the book to be opened and revealing the many pages it had kept within.
"Which one tells us about the crystal?" Epel asked, looking over Silver's shoulder.
"Hmm, I guess, this one?" Silver hummed, turning a page. "Oh, well, I found one."
"What does it say?" Rook asked.
"Well, it says that the crystal's powers are filled with many things, but the one thing that could ever power it would be the power of love," Silver read. "When The Mistress created it, she made it with the love that she had for her family. With one act of true love, the curse that the darkness placed on the land could forever be removed."
"Amazing," Lilia gasped.
"Wait! You and that dashing beastman would be perfect!" Rook laughed. "You have the perfect cure for our curse."
"Me and him? No way," Silver frowned. "I am not a prince, and frankly…I…I don't think I am quite capable."
"Silver, I have only known you for mere hours and yet I can tell that you have the heart of a prince," Malleus complimented. "The way I see it, you are kind, brave, and true to what you believe in, and I do believe that what Ruggie sees within you to."
Silver looked down, thinking about it.
"How could that even work?"
"Oh, it's quite simple!" Rook swooned. "You and Ruggie will dance together, and he will profess a vow of true love! Once that vow is spoken, you will be human again and evil will be defeated!"
"As if it were that simple," Silver sighed. "First of all, I am not.."
"You are a wonderful dancer," Lilia complimented. "You know every step to every song that graced your ears. That's why I always ask you to join me for a beautiful dance lesson, just because I know you are such a graceful dancer."
Silver smiled and got up. "Then I only have tonight to prepare, hmm?"
"Please, allow me," Malleus grinned.
With a wave of Malleus's wand, Silver's suit transformed into a beautiful suit decorated with swan feathers carefully placed on his shoulders, with a beautiful pair of ballet shoes to match.
"Wow, Malleus, how could I thank you?"
"No need to," Malleus laughed.
"But I am still unsure about dancing," Silver admitted. "I mean, how does one even captivate a dance with love?"
Rook stepped into the clearing with a confident smile.
"Ah, Silver, my dear friend," Rook called out, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Shall I tempt you with a performance that embodies the very spirit of this magical evening?"
Silver looked up, curiosity piquing his interest. "A performance? From you?" he teased, a hint of a smile playing on his lips.
"Exactly!" Rook exclaimed, twirling dramatically before him, his movements fluid and graceful. "Allow me to weave a dance that tells the story of love, magic, and the bonds we share."
With that, Rook began his dance. He moved like the flickering flames of a fire, drawing inspiration from the playful sprites who flitted in and out of the shadows. His arms reached out, embodying the whispers of the wind, each flourish expressing the joy and enchantment that surrounded them.
Silver couldn't help but laugh as Rook exaggerated his movements, spinning and leaping as if being propelled by the very essence of the night. Rook spun around, eyes filled with playful energy, and with every shake of his shoulders, it felt as though the forest itself was joining in, the leaves rustling in time to his rhythm.
"See how the world comes alive?" Rook sang, his voice rising above the gentle sounds of the evening. "Every step a heartbeat, every twirl a vow, this night is yours, Silver, to cherish and hold."
Captivated, Silver found himself clapping along, swept up in the joyful energy of Rook's performance. As Rook's dance continued, he incorporated gestures that seemed to tell a deeper story—his movements reflecting the bond Silver and Ruggie shared, the fleeting moments filled with laughter, and the bittersweet tension of impending change.
With an elegant leap, Rook landed before Silver, breathless but beaming. "And thus, my dear friend, I hope this dance brings you a piece of joy, just as the night has bestowed upon you."
Silver, still enchanted by the display, beamed back at Rook. "That was incredible! Thank you for sharing that with me."
Rook bowed dramatically, his smile warm and inviting. "The pleasure is all mine, my friend. Now go forth, cherish what you have, and remember that even as dawn approaches, the magic of this night remains in your heart."
Inspired by Rook's dance, Silver felt a burst of determination. Though the challenges ahead were daunting, he knew he would face them with the same spirit that had filled the night.
"I could feel the love from that, don't you?" Malleus hummed. "Rook has always been a passionate one, you know. But I feel like you need a slow, steady touch."
Silver watched as the spirits flew around Malleus, giving a nicely made ballet attire, and took Silver's hand.
"Now, watch me."
Silver nodded in acknowledgment, granting Malleus the signal to begin his enchanting performance. His feet were carefully positioned on the soft earth, subtly weaving his energy into the melody that resonated around them. Silver watched in sheer awe as Malleus swirled gracefully, his movements drawing forth ethereal spirits that twirled and glided alongside him in a mesmerizing display.
Feeling an irresistible pull, Silver soon joined in, the verdant grass beneath him feeling almost weightless as he surrendered to the rhythm. He let his emotions flow freely through each movement, a joyous smile blooming on his face as he mirrored Malleus's fluid pace. As the music accelerated, their dance became a joyous celebration, each step transforming the world into a vibrant tapestry, with fireflies flickering and illuminating the night, casting a magical glow over the scene.
But the dance didn't last long as a caw of a certain bird caused everyone to freeze, as the giant bird swooped in, taking Lilia away from the scene.
"Father!" Silver gasped.
"Let go of me!" Lilia cried. "This is a new low even for you!"
"Ha! If you want your father back, then you shall give me the crystal!" Levan laughed, flying away.
"You know where to find me!"
A Rose Sword Act Two: Nightmares
Amoré and Silver stared at each other, and for a moment, the world stopped for them.
"You have my eyes," Amoré gasped, as he began to examine Silver. "I mean, it's rare. I never seen anyone with that eye color before…I mean, don't you see it?"
"Y-yes," Silver nodded. "I see it. I mean, now I do."
Amoré grinned and got up with a smile. "Well, I should thank you for saving me from those pixies! I didn't know about they were like that."
"Well, that's how they are." Silver sighed. "They love tricking people or pranking humans until they manage to steal something out of them. They're categorized as Trickster Fae."
"Oh? I always heard of Fae," Amoré started. "But I never seen them before…well, that's because I never left the outskirts of my own cottage. I mean, I have, but not without a guardian to take care of me. Maybe that's why I never saw faes or mythical creatures before."
"Well, I do see that," Silver agreed. "I'm only allowed to go out without a guardian too. I actually did sneak away from my older brother."
"Really?"
"I heard you when I was exploring," Silver confessed. "And your little issue."
"Oh, right." Amoré gulped with a small laugh. "I understand. But I do thank you for saving me, uh…I didn't ask for your name, didn't I?'
"It's Silver."
"Oh, like your hair color? Aw, that's adorable," Amoré complimented.
"And I'm going to guess this doesn't mean your name is Golden." Silver joked.
"Nope, Amoré," he laughed happily, "Though, I do think Golden matched, if I was named after my hair like you. Though, I never see silver hair before. Not in a bad way," Amoré gulped in nervousness, "I just think it looks great."
Silver blushes a little and gets up. "Well, I do think I look pretty cool with it. But, we should be going."
Amoré nodded in agreement and went to grab his basket, but gasped as he realized that it was empty, no more berries to be found.
"Oh no!" Amoré whined. "Those Pixies stole all my berries. I wanted to give them to my family for desert."
"Yeah, they do that. How about we find some new ones before I take you home."
"Yes, please."
Amoré and Silver spent the next few minutes finding some replaceable berries for Amoré, who was worried about them. But Silver kept a cool head, helping Amoré with it.
"So, how come you never left?" Silver asked. "Outside of your cottage area, I mean."
"Hmm? Oh, it was about being in the woods and being healthy for a young kid like me," Amoré asked. "But it also means I talk to animals, not people, as people don't come in the woods as often. Other than my family, I never had many to talk too."
Silver nodded in agreement.
"Same with me as well, but I am more aware that I think it's because I am human, unlike my family. They were always concerned when I got hurt or if they saw blood on me. It does make me feel small in comparison like I wasn't strong enough to take care of myself. But i train with my father daily, so I am getting stronger."
"But being a human has those disadvenatage." Amoré frowned.
"It does."
After a bit, they filled the basket full of berries, much to Amoré's relief.
"Thank you so much," Amoré smiled, hugging Silver. "Now I need to go before my uncle Finch atcually sends a search party for me."
Both boys had a small laugh before Amoré rushed off as he waved back at Silver, with a grin, before disappearing into the darkness, leaving Silver alone.
🌹
Amoré panted when he arrived at his cottage, looking back to make sure those bothersome pixies followed him. Amoré rushed back, and with his luck, it was before the others came back. But sneaking back without being noticed was harder than he planned.
"Amoré, where have you been?!" Finch asked, now examining Amoré. "Nothing bruised, broken or bumpy right?!"
"Sorry if I was late, Uncle Finch!" He panted. "I had a good day."
Finch gasped, looking at Amoré's soaked clothes. "What happened to your clothes?! Why are you wet!?"
"I accidentally fell in on my way back! And you won't believe me if I told you that today something extraordinary happened!!"
Finch sighed, "Get some dry clothes on! I don't want you to catch a cold."
Amoré nods happily and walks back into his room.
"Silver…" He whispered. "I hope I can see you again. Maybe someday, when we have time."
🌹
Silver managed to convince Malleus that he walked off just to see more of the land, so he wasn't so freaked out when Malleus found him.
"I do hope you never do that again," Malleus sighed and started to walk down the path. "But I do understand your curiosity."
"Sorry, Malleus," Silver grinned. "I do have a question."
"Ask,"
"Has there been anyone with the same eyes as I have?" Silver asked.
"Oh, maybe in another land," Malleus answered. "Your eyes are extremely rare and that makes you much more special than everyone else. Things like that makes you unique."
"As a human?"
"As a person, Silver. No matter if you were born as a fae or a human, I believe that everyone is special, even some don't see it."
Silver looked up at Malleus and had a sincere, happy look.
When Malleus entered the cottage path, Malleus stopped and looked down at Silver.
"I can rest here," Silver yawned softly. "I just need a small nap."
"Anything that you wish," Malleus laughed. "I'll see you tomorrow, little one."
Malleus said his goodbyes and walked off, leaving Silver to rest again on a tree to doze off.
Silver's slumber didn't last as he heard a crack of a nearby branch. Though sleepy, he looks around for the person who woke him up. He saw another boy his age, one with animal ears and a tail behind him. In his arms was some food, mostly sugared bread, and he was surprised to see another kid in the forest.
"Hello," Silver whispered, going over to the boy. "Are you ok?"
The boy looked up at him, alarmed at Silver's sudden appearance.
"…y-yeah," he answered and looked at him. "What are you doing in the middle of the woods?"
"I live here. And you?"
"This is my not-so-secret spot to eat before I eat dinner." The boy huffed. "It's weird to see someone out here, other than me. Did you sneak out here too?"
"My family lives in a cottage nearby, "Silver explained. "And what's your name?"
The boy looks away before answering, "Ruggie…and yours?"
"Silver."
Silver smiled and sat down by Ruggie, looking at the food in his hands. "What do you have there?"
"Just some food…" Ruggie sits down before holding the bread close to him. "And it's for me to eat."
Silver nods and looks over at the bread. "Sugared bread?"
"It's good food…want one?" Ruggie took one and handed it to Silver. "…I took a lot so…might be nice to eat with someone else for a change."
Silver smiled and took one, murmured a small "Thank you," and took a bite.
They ate in comfortable silence for a bit, but they began to talk to each other before the sunset.
"Oh…I lost track of time," Ruggie laughed. "You know, your fun to be around, Silv."
Silver's head tilted a little by the sudden nickname. "Silv?"
"Your nickname." Ruggie answered, "You never had a nickname before?"
"U-uh," Silver blushes a little, "…you should come by tomorrow. And bring some food with you?"
Ruggie smiles, "I'll look forward to it! But you might to be patient with me, I do get here late,"
"I don't mind," Silver spoke up, looking back at Ruggie. "I do want to see you again."
Ruggie flashed another smile and walked away.
Silver gets up and walks back to his cottage, thinking about what a day he had before he opened the door and greeted everyone inside.
He just greeted them and walked up into his room, watching the stars appear in the night sky. He wondered how Amoré was, being so far from him. Maybe one day, they'll meet again.
🌹
Amoré managed a small breath as he walked around a dark path. He was surrounded by darkness, but what scared him was a massive roar and green fire that surrounded him as he tried to run away from the shadow of a dragon that went closer and closer to him.
An evil chuckle was in the background.
It was always like this.
Why did he keep having these nightmares?
He had them after a horrible illness, and they haven't stopped since, and get worse depending on the day. Amoré knew his nightmares had a sinister meaning to them, but he wished he could find out.
A rundown, he was always running from something, something that could only be described as a dragon, fierce and loud, breathing fire towards him as he ran, but he tripped, and the figure of a woman stood before him. She would cackle at Amoré's defenseless body as she slowly spoke, "It is almost time, my child, the time for you to…" And that's when he awakens, shaking and crying. Nothing could stop those horrendous nightmares, not even his caretakers could get rid of them. He walks up to his window and rests his head on the edge, getting annoyed with his nightmares.
Chirp! *
Amoré gasped awake again as he saw a bluebird by his window.
He groaned as he got up and opened the window, feeling the fresh air. He very much needed it after such a bad nightmare, which again, is repeated.
The Bird chirped and handed a small paper from his feet onto Amoré's hand. He sighed but managed a small smile, taking it.
"Time to write about these dreams again, Silver, I apologize for having nothing else to talk to."
After their meeting, he never saw Silver again, but he wrote to him very often, and Silver wrote back. The main reason for the sudden writing was that they lived on opposite sides of the forest, and who knows how far they were, or how many hours or days? It's one of the many mysteries Amoré wants to solve, but he does know that the enchanted forest is located at its center. Amoré smiles and unrolls the letter.
Dear Amoré,
How are things over there? As for over here, things seem as normal as they could be, but Ruggie and I have been hanging out a lot more and getting close.
You probably wouldn't want to hear me ramble about a crush. How about something a little more concerning?
As of late, I've been recently having nightmares, where a dragon of sorts chases me, and at the end, I see a woman, and she says something, but the only words I could remember were "My child, the time for you to die it's near!" and I wish what she meant by it all. Do you have something similar? Please do tell.
With great memories,
Silver
Amoré gasped at the mention of Silver's nightmare, a similar one to his with a different ending. He grabbed a piece of paper and began to write, with only a dim candlelight lighting up the bedroom.
⚔️
Silver woke up with a chirp and watched as his bluebird carefully peeked at his head. "Hmm… morning." He yawned and lifted himself, "Did Amoré write another letter?" He takes the note from the bluebird's neck and begins to read.
Dear Silver, I had the same dream!
It wasn't a coincidence, either, but I don't want to jump to conclusions, especially when my family doesn't know much about you yet.
For me, it was similar, but the woman said to me, "It is almost time, my child, the time for you to…", and that's it!
Could we have been having the same dream all this time? And we didn't realize? It's just like our meeting all over again, so much mystery all around me today. But I would love to hear about you and Ruggie soon!
With great love,
Amoré
Silver gets up and begins to get ready for the day. As for when the nightmare starts with him? It started after he was ill, so badly that it almost resulted in death, and those nightmares seemed to reflect that.
Was it saying that he was supposed to die of the illness or something else? He always felt uneasy after he woke up, so he wished he knew why. But today wasn't the day.
He got ready for the day and walked downstairs, where he met with his family, luckily with Wisp making breakfast.
"Good morning," Lilia greeted with a smile until he saw Silver's tired eyes, "Oh, another bad dream?"
"I can't help them, Father," Silver yawned. "But they are becoming more normal these past weeks. I hate that I am used to it, but I'm living with it."
"Not once a good dream after your illness?" Pondered Holly, sounding very sad. "Do you need something, my dear?"
"No, it'll pass on its own, I'm sure of it." Silver spoke up. "Like most dreams do."
"Ugh, Lilia," Elva huffed, "I knew that wasn't a good thing for teach Silver, now he's ignoring something as bad as nightmares."
"Hey, Silver decided to listen to me," Lilia pouted. "I only gave him that advice once and once only. It shall not be my fault if he follows what I say like it's a fact."
"Enough," Wisp laughed, setting down breakfast. "Flapjacks with eggs and bacon with lovely orange juice to start the day."
"Thank you, Aunt Wisp," Silver thanked and started to eat.
🌹
Amoré snored at the dining table, as he couldn't sleep after waking up that morning. It was a habit that everyone had figured out by now, and it worried Dew as he shook Amoré awake.
"Darling, please don't tell me you had another nightmare and couldn't sleep?" Dew sighed, looking down.
"I'm sorry, Father but I couldn't." Amoré yawned.
"I can see,"
"Oh, I don't know what to do," Amoré whimpered. "I tried everything to avoid these nightmares but they always continued and now I can't even sleep because of them. But I want to be happy when I wake up in the morning, but it's hard when you have someone saying that you'll die."
"WHAT!?" gasped Dew.
"Oh, my boy," Lake soothed, holding Amoré into a hug, "Dreams have the affect on people. Dreams can do that, regardless if they are good or bad, but it's up to you to change the narritive of a dream to whatever you want it to be. Now, rest up and we will make something delightful for breakfast, just for you."
"Like a berry tart?" Amoré yawned. "Flapjacks too?"
"Of course, my dear," Dew smiled, kissing Amoré's forehead. "But please rest for a bit. Sleep and have a beautiful dream."
Amoré nodded as Lake settled him onto the couch, where he fell asleep.
"That damn witch will continue to upset me, day after day, after day," Dew growled as he began to cook. "These children do not deserved this from her and look at her, hurting innocent youth just for fun."
"Not purely for fun, Dew," Lake reminded. "It's for revenge. Fae knows that being uninvited is clearly an insult to us. Her being upset is not all that surprising, but cursing mere children is."
"I know, but I come to cherish Amoré as my own, so I do have a…obligation to take care of him like you would as a parent. It will break my heart when I have to let him go in the future."
"Oh, Dew, you are such a kind soul and we are lucky for your leadership."
Dew sighed and looked back at the flapjack mix as he slowly began to stir.

"More nightmares, Lilia?" Malleus asked, watching Silver training.
"Much more horrid than before, I fear," Lilia answered, "he seems to ignore them but I cannot. The Mistress seemed to be adamant about torturing these boys until their birthday in a few years. I know how she is, she'll be ready when the time stricks, but she must be so bored."
"More unhinged," Malleus answered, "She curses those around her who speak against her. Death, she says, is the ultimate punishment for those who go against her. She always dreams about the day she'll capture and kill you for your betrayal, even mentioning that you loved my mother and her husband?"
Lilia stiffened before sighing, "In a sense, I did. Though rude and unforgivable, she had good qualities that made her lovable. Like her love for you."
"Really?"
"Oh, she adored you since you were still an egg, she didn't care when or how you hatched. She would rather wait patiently than rush you out like The Mistress had planned. Levan, your father, was the same and adored you from the beginning, but something happened and he disappeared. I wish I knew more," Lilia sighed.
"You were the first person to tell me actual things about my mother," Malleus admitted, "Grandmother only spoke of her death and how she was killed by the humans…Silver's real parents, that is."
"Oh, I am so sorry," Lilia managed to speak sadly, looking up at Malleus. "I do want you to know that your parents loved you so much and that love is why you are here today."
"How about you, Lilia? What was your fondest memory?"
"If you wanted me to be honest," Lilia smiles, "it was you hatching in my arms and I just…started bailing, tears just couldn't stop. And everything just stopped for a moment in time."
Malleus felt his eyes tear up at Lilia's sincere answer, watching Lilia reminisce about the memory.
They talked for a while, and they didn't even notice Silver sneaking off into the forest.
Once he is there, he sees Ruggie with food, just as he did in their first meeting. But it was more varied, with donuts, bread, steamed vegetables, and meat, all of which Silver knows he stole. It's not something he's a fan of, but knowing Ruggie's backstory and life, he didn't complain about it.
"Hey, I got some more yummy food," Ruggie grinned as Silver sat down.
"That's great," Silver yawns softly.
"Again?" Ruggie groaned, "Ugh, Silver, these nightmares must be tiring for you for now."
"I am indeed used to it," Silver admitted, "I won't let it bother me and my day, as my father advised." The squirrels rested on Silver's head as he spoke, and Silver carefully placed them on his lap. "But I do miss peaceful dreams," Silver looks over at Ruggie, "But I'll be ok, I promise you."
"Eh, I don't know," Ruggie mumbled, "Having nightmares continuously makes me think of childhood. My Gram always told me it means that you can't let go of something. And something is coming soon, like a foreseen prophecy, or premonition."
"Yeah, a woman telling me that I have to die soon was actually chilling and Amoré also has these nightmares."
"Oh yeah," Ruggie messes with the leaves, "That could be something too."
"Enough about me," Silver looks at Ruggie, "how about you? Anything new you would like to tell me?"
Ruggie groaned, "Ok, this is not exactly good news, but still news. So, My Gram caught me again, so she decided to enroll me in knighthood. Against my will."
"Oh? Really?"
"Yes! And it wasn't a massive thing either, but now I'll be supervised and taught some swordsmanship. So… maybe you could teach me?"
Silver looks over in surprise, "M-me?"
"Yeah," Ruggie grinned, "You told me that your father taught you the way of the sword, and maybe I could ask you so I can at least be prepared. Cause, I saw you train today, and you did so amazingly…and it's making me jealous."
Silver blushes and smiles. "Well, you asked nicely, so yes, I'll teach you. But I'm not sure much about the techniques."
"It'll work."
"Let's start with stance.." Silver started.
After what seemed to be hours, Ruggie was on the floor, panting for his life. "I forgot that you were an expert," Ruggie panted, "but that was so exhilarating, and man, you are a good teacher."
Silver helps Ruggie up, "Thank you, but my father actually deserves the praise. All I did was retaught what I learned."
"But the stance and the advice? I'm sure they were your own. And you were so swift and fast." Ruggie stammered. Silver looks down. "Trust me, if you weren't forbidden to leave the forest, I would've took you to the knights so you could show them."
"Ruggie, they're professionals compared to me." Silver looks down, "And look at me, someone not even worth looking at."
Ruggie cleared his throat, "I think I would beg to differ. If you asked me," He looks at Silver, "You're pretty awesome, Silv."
Silver blushes and smiles, "Thank you."
"Now, all of this training is making me starving." Ruggie sat down and held out a donut to Ruggie, "Let's eat already."
Silver took the donut and sat next to Ruggie.
🥀
In the highest tower of the Castle of Blair Valley, The Mistress sneered among the people below.
After all, who wouldn't be when your curse turned over your head, and the princes gone missing for almost sixteen years now? When The Mistress found out she wasn't invited to a christening, one of the Royal family, no less, she was furious. After she sacrificed to get Queen Serena to where she was, she was betrayed, to say the least. And before she knew it, she decided to punish the infants that Serena had given birth to, for messing with the queen. It was nothing more than a petty revenge scheme, and she knows it. But thinking about it gave a slight delight to her face.
But as soon as she found out that the infants had gone missing or been taken, she sent goons everywhere to find them, as they were now hidden under her nose. It was clearly a way to save them, a weak attempt, she thought. A weak but efficient way, she could admit, as she couldn't find the twins or their caretakers.
"It's been so long," She wallowed. "Was it wrong to curse those who wronged me?" She asked her raven, Scarlett, in such a pitiful tone. "I wish I knew where they have been hiding," she looked down, "then my plan could be a success. A way for little Serena to remember who she betrayed that unfaithful night." She walks back inside, sits on her throne, and looks back at Scarlett, "Is Malleus safe?"
Scarlett nods, ruffling her feathers. "Good, if those humans dare touch my grandson, it'll be over for them as we speak, you do know that, my pet? But alas, simple nightmares will do."
Malleus walked in, looking at his grandmother.
"Oh, my precious grandson," The Mistress cooed, "how was your day?"
"Fairly normal, Grandmother, however the creatures seem stress from the number of humans that come by the forest."
"I figured as such," She sighed, "Have the Tree Golems say anything about them?"
"They are led by a woman."
"Ah, no need to tell me no longer. Tell them to squish her if she ever comes back." Malleus spoke. "Do you know her, Grandmother?"
"Just an old friend who tried to hurt me in the past. And has been banned from the forest."
Malleus nods and walks away as goons rush in, laughing.
"Oh, hush it!" The Mistress ordered. "Now, tell me, have you found them?"
"No, your evilness, but we are still checking every single house and cottage! And even small cradles!"
The Mistress stopped and laughed, "Did you hear that, my pet? They searched every cradle, they said. They think there's still a baby to look for."
Her laughter turned into a growl before she waved her staff, causing lightning, "You fools!!! Now listen to me carefully, find those boys! One with golden hair and one with silver hair! You better not forget it!!"
Malleus stiffened at her orders. He knew who she was looking for, and sometimes, he wished for it to be different, but it was an empty promise.
"Grandmother, although I have returned, I request some fresh air?"
"Oh, of course, my dear grandson," The Mistress spoke with a grin. "But please be back before supper."
Malleus nodded and quickly walked outside his kingdom. He knew what he needed to do, but he felt Baal watch him across the gardens, his young grandson accompanying him as per usual.
"Ah, Master Malleus," Baal spoke, bowing to him. "I do not often see you this freaked out."
"Oh, you do not need to worry," Malleus looked and smiled at Sebek, "It is a plesure to see you, Sebek."
"And a pleasure back, your highness," Sebek spoke and bowed.
"What happened?" Baal spoke up. "You look frightened, nearly half to death."
"I am," Malleus spoke, then gulped. "I am merely upset. I have a person I want to protect, but I have no clue how."
"You know how the queen is," Baal looked up at him. "I understand that you may be uncomfortable with her actions, but you have to understand that what she does is for you and all of fae kind."
Malleus looked back and sighed. "I wish you'd understand my plite, Baal."
"Pardon?"
Sebek tilted his head in confusion, but seeing Malleus's sad eyes, he felt sad too.
"Please excuse me."
Malleus rushed away, deeper into the forest until he found himself back at Lilia's cottage again. He wanted it all to go away, his guilt, his involvement, his grandmother's spell. He was young when that happened, and he remembered the spell he had created to help the young twins. Now, after seeing his grandmother, Malleus had enough. He wanted to help more, even to protect them before their inevitable sleep.
He knocked on the door, watching the stars form above him.
"Yes? Oh, Malleus?" Wisp gasps softly. "Oh, please do come in. You look so upset."
"I am, Lady Wisp. I cannot help the guilt I feel," Malleus wallowed. "I want to be better than her. She is now someone I cannot recognize, a fae full of hatred. I want to tell everyone to stop searching for them, but they are not my guards, they are my grandmothers."
"Oh, Malleus," Wisp comforted. "You have done well already. You have helped us much more than you know. You saved them from death, and that is something we can appreciate. You did all of this for twins that you barely know from day one, you are protecting them, like a guardian angel."
Malleus finally let those tears fall and felt the warm arms of Wisp around him, clearly not upset at him.
"Thank you, Lady Wisp," he mumbled. "You have the loving heart of a mother."
"Hey, every person deserves that love. You, especially."
"May I see Silver before I leave?"
"Of course, but he is sleeping at the moment. I hope he doesn't have any nightmares tonight."
Malleus nodded and walked up the stairs into his room, watching Silver sleep with a face of discomfort. He knew the nightmare was torturing him again, and like what he had done in the past, he decided to do what was right.
He rested his hand upon Silver's head and whispered, "May the power of the great Fae protect you and your twin brother from the horrible nightmares my grandmother has cast upon you. May you be content with your life, don't forget who you love, Silver."
Silver lets out a sigh before smiling in his sleep once more.
Malleus walks away and closes the door, "That should end the endless nightmares now."
And with a proper goodbye, he walks deep into the enchanted forest, figuring out his next plan when the unfortunate day arrives.
Quick wittle ramble but I realize that the majority of my fics would technically work with SilKali (Silver x Kalim) but you wanna know why I don't??
I have been a RugSil Shipper for 3 years(?) now and I've been so obsessed with it and the lack of fics of it had drove me to this point
So..
Yeah
