Szeth/Rushu: You love to see two neurodivergent nerds learning to be neurodivergent nerds together, in the most queerplatonic way possible

Szeth/Nightblood: No one person can fix him. You know this. So you’ve decided that the answer is to ship him with a morally questionable sentient object instead. You are me, and I respect you

Szeth/Jasnah: You love it when a couple lives in separate houses in different countries

Szeth/Kaladin: You think they could fix each other and also be so weird and awkward about it

Szeth/Nale: You know that they’d only make each other worse, but you’re still watching on the sidelines with a bucket of popcorn

Szeth/Dalinar: You’re an honorsexual

Happy Fanfic Friday! This week we celebrate one of the most unique rarepairs I've ever come across - Szeth/Rushu QPR.

Oathbringer spoilers, rated General. This is a series of short fics (600-2000 words) exploring an AU in which Szeth and Rushu start to develop a queerplatonic relationship. Bonus: Rlain and Szeth bonding!

Rushu and Szeth emerged onto one of Urithiru’s balconies. The evening air was cool, but not uncomfortably so. The sun had just set, leaving a fading burst of light and color at the western horizon. The sky overhead was clear, and several stars were visible. Salas was rising in the east - a violet disk against the dark, velvety blue of the sky. Rushu and Szeth sat at one of the several unoccupied tables arranged in the relatively small space. Rushu took the food and drinks she’d packed earlier out of her satchel and set them on the table. She looked up to see Szeth staring at the first moon, seeming thoughtful. “The moons have different names in Shinovar, right?” she asked. “Yes,” he answered. Rushu tapped her fingers on the table, trying to remember what she’d read. “What do you call them again?” “They are the Three Sisters. This,” he gestured toward Salas, “is the First Sister.” “That’s right,” Rushu said. “I remember reading that now. Why do you call them sisters? I haven’t been able to find any reliable sources about that.” Szeth was quiet for a few moments, and Rushu took the opportunity to divide the food between them. She hadn’t known what kinds of food Szeth liked, so she’d just brought the same type of simple meal she’d seen him eat before. She’d brought a bottle of orange wine for them to drink. Szeth took his food with a nod, then began to speak. “The sun and the moons are gods to my people. The sun is the God of Gods, and the Three Sisters are his daughters.” Rushu reached down for a pen and some paper, completely forgetting about her food. “What stories do your people have about the Sisters?”
