They know you weren’t happy, and love you so much they’d rather see you happier with someone else than slowly breaking with them. They only ask their friends for small updates once in a while. They know they could never move on, and they never do.

Slowly, their arm backs down, and they let themselves mourn the relationship they had. Eventually, they move on, maybe years from now.
