Also if you're looking for Christmas angst, I've been thinking about Gift For an Angel (Also the Hadestown Christmas album) with Kanera.... and crying a lot 😅
Oh the FEELINGS this one gave me are extensive
Also when you see this and go "WHY THE KARK DID SHE POST THIS SO EARLY???" the answer is as a favor to @laughingphoenixleader. Long story lol, enjoy nonetheless!
Hera sat on the ramp of the Ghost, watching the snow drifting down on the prairies of Lothal. Cold weather had never been her favorite, being from a desert planet. Even now, she had a mug of caf clutched in her hands, trying to let the warmth soak into her from the cooling mug.
But Kanan loved the snow. If Hera closed her eyes, she could imagine him next to her, shoulder pressed against her, trying to keep her warm. His blue-green eyes would be sparkling as he teased her or flirted, and they’d be happy.
Hera closed her eyes against tears. Oh, Kanan. I miss you. She hoped that he was at peace. Even if she wished he was here.
Letting a hand rest on her growing belly, she thought, If you were here this year, I would have had the perfect gift for you. She could picture his excitement at the prospect of being a father so clearly.
She let out a long, shaky sigh. Lifting the mug of caf, she said, “Here’s to you, love. Happy Life Day.”
*drops this CrystalCoin angst and skedaddles away*
You guys know what time it isssssssss
Candy...
Candy: Clones x Female Guardian Reader/ Slight Rex x reader
Warnings: None..... major punch in the feels, I'll also be using a character from a mythical race I kinda made up...
The general had been acting strange of late, nothing too out of the ordinary, but strange enough for the clones and several Jedi to take notice. It had all started after the incident on Felucia when Rex had taken a blaster bolt to the arm. When he and the others had gotten back on the cruiser, (Y/N) had rushed over to them, worry painting her features as she cupped Rex's face in her hands. Then after lightly scolding him for giving her a heart attack and making sure, he was properly taken care of, she gave each of the men including Obi-wan a small, hard, round, candy. The men had all been rather confused at the sudden gesture but accepted it nonetheless. Each of them savoring the sweetness of the small orb later on that day, this odd habit seemed to keep up as after every mission, (Y/N) would make sure to give the men a small treat no matter how dirty or tired she was. It eventually evolved into an unspoken tradition that no one seemed to ever question, some nights they were too tired to care, other times they didn't want to possibly upset her by asking in case it was a sensitive topic. But after the battle of Kamino, as Echo and Fives sat mourning the death of their friend 99, they felt a hand rest on their shoulders.... turning their heads they looked up to see (Y/N) with an empathetic look on her face as she took her hand off of Fives' shoulder to reach into her pocket and pull out two familiar shapes and extend them to the two newly promoted ARC Troopers. Echo and Fives gingerly took the treats from her hand, watching as she sat down between the two of them. Fives unwrapped his piece and popped it in his mouth while Echo stared at his, saving it for later like he always did. His curiosity coupled with his grief finally gave him the courage to look at (Y/N) and ask:
"Why do you give us candy after each mission?"
Fives looked over at his brother, not realizing that Rex, Cody, Anakin, and Obi-wan had made their way over to the small dock where the three of them sat, eagerly awaiting her answer. (Y/N) had something of a nostalgic smile come over her face as she looked up at the gray sky. The clouds had steadily become slightly patchy allowing some sunlight to leak through,
"When I was young..... back in my early days as a trainee... my teacher Aelfdene would always give me and the others a small candy after a hard day's work. When we went into battle.... some of us going realms apart from one another.... we were told to stay alive... and return safely. When we did, most of us came back with gashes, bruises, even missing limbs, but he would be there... waiting at the portal gate for us with a kind smile..... and a piece of candy as our reward for coming back safely. Sometimes on nights where you could hear nothing but swords clashing and people screaming.... the thought of getting a piece of candy and a smile from someone I loved kept me going..... it's silly... but since he died, I seemed to have picked up on the habit."
(Y/N) sensed the others behind her and turned her head to look back at them, a soft smile on her face,
"I take it your here for these two?" She asked Rex and Cody after she'd gotten up, Rex had a small smile cross his face as she reached into her pockets and dug out several more pieces of candy, distributing them to the others with a soft smile on her face. When she got to Rex, however, she stopped and pressed her forehead against his in a gentle keldabe kiss as she slipped his piece of candy into his hand, her thoughts echoing in Rex's mind.
"Thank you for coming back to me...."

After the Citadel rescue went south, Rex could only think about how crushed (Y/N) would be when she didn't get to give Echo his piece of candy, she, Echo, and Fives were all so close. He knew Fives would have another breakdown as soon as she gave him his, he was just hoping that the same thing didn't happen to him. As they disembarked, he could already see her outline, her (H/C) slightly ruffled from the breeze, the slightly anxious posture as she fiddled with her long sleeves as if she knew something had gone wrong. Fives brushed right by her, not even saying hello, tipping her off even more to the fact that something had happened as Rex caught her gaze. Her eyes darting around looking for Echo as Rex stepped closer, and closer, until he was right in front of her. He didn't need to say anything, he could feel her over their very strong empathy bond, she knew when one of her brothers was lost. Rex felt tears prick the corner of his eyes as he looked down at his boots, not wanting to look into her eyes that were filling with tears. His eyes slightly widened however when he felt a hand rest on the back of his neck and pull him into a comforting embrace,
"I'm so sorry my love...." She whispered in his ear her heart clenching at every soft cry that fell from Rex's lips. The others had moved out of the hangar so there was no danger of them being discovered, still, Rex's body was exhausted and he felt his strength waning. Before he left to go shower however he felt something press into the palm of his hand before her figure began to disappear from his sight, knowing full well where she was headed next. After all..... there were others who still needed their candy.

(Y/N) walked into the barracks later that night, when most of the men had fallen asleep, with one goal in mind, to find Fives. She didn't have to look long as her sensitive ears caught the sound of saddened whimpers and cries. Taking a deep breath, she softly padded over to Fives' bunk, determined to be strong for his sake as she sat on the edge of his cot. Reaching up, she rested her hand on Fives' blanket-covered shoulder, closing her eyes as she attempted to connect with Fives, ever so slowly, the whimpers ceased, and Fives relaxed under her touch. His breathing evened out as she then moved her free hand to softly wipe away the tears that had run endlessly down his face.
"I'm so sorry vod'ika....." She whispered, gently stroking Fives' curly hair for several minutes before she left, his favorite flavored candy left next to his pillow for when he woke up as she slipped into the night.

Numb...... that would be a good word to describe how (Y/N) felt as she, Rex, and Ashoka dragged the last of the men out from the smoldering wreckage that had once been a cruiser, with every hole that was dug, she felt as if more of her soul was being laid in the ground with the men she buried, choking out a broken sob as she pressed her forehead against Jesse's, after Fives' death.... he had been the one aside from Rex to pick up the broken pieces of her heart, and now he also was gone. (Y/N) almost had a complete breakdown as Ashoka gently guided her away from Jesse's body so that Rex could bury him, but she soon found herself sitting just a few feet away from his grave that night. Feeling raw from the inside out as she allowed the cold winds to envelope her, she didn't feel it, nor did she feel Rex who was desperately trying to reach out to her until his hand rested atop her shoulder. She didn't look up at him, all she could do was stare at the graves with hollow, grief-stricken eyes. Rex sat down beside her, wrapping an arm around her as they sat there, the grief consuming them in waves until Rex felt remembered he had something stashed in his ammunition pouch on the front of his armor for just a situation such as this. He reached up with his free hand and managed to grab it, before gaining (Y/N's) attention. She looked at him with red-rimmed eyes that to Rex, looked so.... lost and broken as he wordlessly extended his hand. She looked down at his hand and allowed her dam to break as she leaned against him, burying her face in the side of his neck................... clutching a small piece of candy against her chest.
