In no particular order and not an exhaustive list.

I have to say, putting this list together surprised me. There are fewer of these in BL than in origin yaoi. It was such a common trope back in the day, and it’s crazy we haven’t gotten any from Japan... yet. (And no, for a change, I don’t count Seven Days - I don’t think that show has a real seme/uke dynamic, although the manga does.)

One of the things I love about an age-flipped dynamic is that the younger seme is often forced to tease, flirt, and be indirect in his pursuit - he can’t really wage a full frontal campaign (so to speak). He has to be a little subtle.

Also this means that, for narrative reasons, these are often sunshine/tsundere pairings. (With some noted exceptions of course.)

China has never done this pairing, to my knowledge. And it’s really rare in Korean BL (but outside of a school setting, so is seme/uke). The hyung strictures are so strong there. I actually would LOVE a BL that confronted this dynamic head on from Korea, but I think maybe that would be a bit too much for them right now. Perhaps next year?

Watching Thorn go and talk to Aii about Fah and realize what he's doing and what's going on is a masterpiece. And the way Aii got advice from Pan? And Pan talking to Dome post-break up? And Saen always encouraging Thorn to flirt with Fah? Just... all of the, All of them.
