There are tons of good kisses in BL productions, it's hard to narrow it down to just a few, but I'll try. To make this hard work easier, I decided to create categories.
Kisses full of passion, desperation, with a hint of delicious, sweet pain, the first kiss after a time of growing tension and "dancing" around each other and their complicated feelings:
10Dance
Bad Buddy
Kisses in which the seme (or seme type) shows exciting dominance:
2 moons 2
Century of Love
Perfect Propose
Kisses in which the uke (or uke type) takes the initiative:
Jun&Jun
Semantic Error
Kisses in which both are simply horny gremlins:
Secret Crush On You
Twins
Kisses that pleasantly surprised me (that they even happened and that they were so good):
La Cuisine
I Cannot Reach You
My Universe
Upside-down kisses:
Oh! My Sunshine Night
Bangkok Love Story (sadly no gif)
Great Trailer/Pilot Kisses:
Reset
Monster Next Door
Bonus: 😛
Love For Love's Sake
I think everyone's probably played this, but I'll tag a few people (as always: no pressure!) @italianpersonwithashippersheart @callipigio @obsessedferalgremlin @notafanbut @befuddledcinnamonroll @benkaben @pinkkop @watchthisqqq @delesaria-blog @morathicain @nevermindsuga @alien-ally
QUICK! Choose Your Fave From My Faves: Doctor x Engineer Pairing
It's been QUITE some time since I've done one of these polls but I'm back! I'm not watching Doctor's Mine but this poll is inspired by MonPak's pairing in the series. I know Lee Long Shi and whoever he's paired up with fits this trope too but they won't be on this poll and neither will IttPai from My Gear and Your Gown.
Fave Doctor x Engineer Boyfriends
Per x Kan from Doctor's Mine
Mark x Kit from Gen Y the Series
Gun x Bar from En of Love: TOSSARA/Love Mechanics/Future the Series
Mork x Tawan from My Ride
Johan x North from Fourever You
Forth x Beam from 2Moons2
Bohn x Duen from My Engineer
Ming x Kit from 2Moons2
Voting ended onAug 17, 2025
I know Mork and Tawan are a bit of a stretch but they lowkey fit the trope and I LOVE them so IDC! Look at how young Pavel and Joong look!
Do you have any bl actors you’d love to see play siblings/family? Like they don’t have to look exactly identical but like, some of these actors should be swapping family trees, they look way too similar to be strangers lol
Company agnostic, of course. I have a running list I’d love to add to! My list is as follows:
- Mix and Firstone
- Nanon and Oat (from BoatOat)
- Nunew and Lego (LYKN)
- Pooh and Teetee
I actually had a VERY old series on this blog called:
They should play brothers!
I'll reboot it for you (picks from over 5 years ago, so I had a much more limited filed to pull from, we in the way back machine).
Tagged by @slonekaru - thanks for tagging me!! ❤️❤️❤️
Rules: Post the first 3-5 (or as many as you want) QL shows that got you into the genre. Feel free to explain or give propaganda.
I think what first got me into QL media at all was Harry Potter fanfiction when I was in high school? 😂 Lol. I think drarry was one of the first gay ships I ever got obsessed with. And then also yaoi manga in high school.
That being said, the first QL shows I ever watched, or at least that I can remember and that really got me into this genre, were Thai bls.
Picture it, the year was 2020,
and the plague hadn't come to quarantine us all yet, and I was experiencing the worst burn out from school I've ever experienced and it was senior year of college. I saw a gifset on Tumblr, and I didn't know it yet at the time! But that gifset would forever change my life and suck me into an abyss. That gifset was...
Like seriously this was it. It was that almost violent locker room slam against the lockers scene. I saw this gifset, went, what the heck is this, found it, watched it, and I never looked back. Love By Chance (2018).
After that, I binged e v e r y t h i n g. And COVID hit soon after in March in the USA, which for me personally, was perfect timing bc it enabled me to really actually watch e v e r y t h i n g. I had list after list after list of bls to watch, and I did.
So soon after LBC, I don't remember the exact order but I know the other early on watches were:
Together with Me (2017).
Until We Meet Again (2019).
SOTUS (2016).
Dark Blue Kiss (2019).
2Moons2 (2019).
Love Sick (2014).
These were all so influential to me and I will forever have them embedded deep into my brain cells until my dying days. I'm insane about these actually.
Edit: I forgot to tag people! I don't know who's done it already, so feel free to ignore! @heretherebedork @thisautistic @gotmehookedonthekpop @dollopheadsandclotpoles @deanmoth @absolutebl @hauntofharper @that-bl-bitch @negrowhat
10 BL DRAMAS THAT I THINK DESERVE MORE RECOGNITION
I think these dramas are underrated based on what I've seen so far. I can't see the reasons for them to stay in the shadows, they definitely deserve more hype in my opinion.
SPOILER ALERT! (DUHH
1: 2Moons 3: The Ambassador
The Ambassador is actually a sequel series, it takes the story from where it was left off in the previous series. Side couples go on with their storylines (unnecessary couples btw you can just pass their scenes like I do every time I rewatch this) while the main couple's story slowly takes its form. But don't worry, THE highlight is the main couple. The chemistry, proper plot, steady pace, healthy relationship, lovely couple moments.
I love dramas where the main couple starts their relationship from scratch. It's actually one of my fav tropes. This one is kinda leaning towards love at first sight for one side but I think it could still be considered as starting from the scratch? Well doesn't matter, they're cute. Towards the ending though, things get a little bit outta hand like why's he getting kidnapped for nothing?? That's a grown ah man like c'mon now. Also why tf do they keep telling that strawberry shortcake that he's not pretty enough to be the faculty's moon? Bruhhhh go see an eye doctor or something
But honestly though, it's a great series. The main couple definitely deserves more hype!
2: What Zabb Man!
The plot is quite simple, a talented boy who sells street food and a hotel owner falls in love after the boy's food gets discovered by the hotel owner's best friend. Side/supporting characters are generally nice and don't bother the plot but they also don't add much depth? idk. The side couple is enjoyable to watch as well. Their storyline goes at its' own pace and meets with the main couple's pace when it's needed. The main couple learns from their mistakes throughout the chapters and grows together, eventually their relationship ends with happiness. The trope is definitely enemies to lovers. Surprised? Yup, I forgot to mention that they meet through some unlucky incidents
I can't even remember how many times I've rewatched this. I love the story and the trio friend group, even though they try to make the girl look bad because of her feelings towards her friend! I thought it was so normal for her to act in that way and I was okay with that. Whatever, go watch, you'll love it. It's somehow chill and nice.
3: We Are The Series
"Oh but it's famous why would you add this to the list?!" IT DESERVES MORE THAN THAT. We Are has 16 episodes in total. It tells the story of 4 different couples. These people are also a friend group, so their story lines cross paths naturally. The blending of the different stories is smooth like butter, and you enjoy every single one of them. You might think that there's too many episodes for such a simple plot. Well, you're right but that's actually the whole point. 4 couples in total and each one is just adorable. Yes, their plots are simple but simple plots can be hard to pull off, especially with a huge cast like this
I'll be honest, I can't rewatch this without feeling like I could have a friend group like that. So I hate that I envy the universe created in this series but I love watching it because it also makes me feel good? Like wtf, pick a side man?? Their feelings are natural and unfiltered, some reactions are exaggerated in the best possible way. Acting, even for the supporting roles, is top notch! Relationships are healthy and the love between the couples grows nicely. All couple's chemistry is spot on. Let me specifically talk about one character though: "Peem". Peem's personality is chill, unforced and genuine. The kind of person that you'd feel calm when you're next to them. I just know that if he existed in real (and in my) life, he could be my friend crush. His honey-like personality slides in and adds to the simplicity of the plot. Long story short, plot is nice and simple and I think its simplicity feels like a cool breeze
Also last words but not least, can we talk about Phuwin's lethal FACE CARD?!!! (I don't usually remember the actor's names since I only care about the characters and performances that actors put into their roles, not their actual self. But I remember his name, you see what I mean???? Yeah.
4: Love for Love's Sake
You thought every drama in this list would be all sunshine and rainbows huh? Wakey wakeyyyyyy. This one is sad as fuck. But it's beautifully painful w a happy ending (It was like a last minute happiness though, keep that in mind.) The main boy, Myung Ha, is living an unhappy life that's been getting worse every day since his grandmother died. He’s depressed, and in the first episodes you can really feel how much he hates himself. Okay so how does this drama start then? His friend, starts to create a game.
Then all of a sudden a miracle occurs and Myung Ha finds himself in this game. In this game, his grandmother is still alive and he's no longer a 29 years old man, he's a high schooler. It's like a second chance. Since it’s a game, he has missions and if he can’t nail them, there are penalties/strikes as well. In this game, his main mission though, is to make the main character's happiness reach 100. So yes he's not the main game character, Cha Yeo woon is.
Cha Yeo woon, is a depressed lonely boy who hates himself. Felt familiar? Yup, while watching you'll realize that Cha Yeo woon is just so similar to Myung Ha in so many ways. Without realizing it, Myung Ha becomes the person that he once needed in his life for Cha Yeo woon. He becomes a hero for him and sees himself in him. Over time, the feeling of love blooms. So the drama is not all dark and gloomy, don't worry y'all. He becomes both a good friend and a good lover. While saving Cha Yeo woon he also saves himself. If it weren't for Cha Yeo woon, Myung ha wouldn't even try lifting a finger for himself, because he sees himself as a hopeless case yet he keeps trying his best for Cha Yeo woon. At the end, he stays in the game. He chooses someone he thinks is worth more than anything in his real life. But the good thing is he is also chosen. He is wanted and loved. He becomes a part of the game with others, in a universe he always deserved. Oh my shaylaaaaaa, I'm gonna cry y'all hold onnn
The plot is unique and the script is perfectly executed. Acting is so good, chemistry, supporting characters are adding so much to the plot which I absolutely love! BUT I wanted to see more lovey dovey scenes, more supporting character scenes and that ending? Reasonably it felt rushed. Now we all know that you can do so much more than that, you could've given us more swoon worthy scenes. Even thinking about it, I'm pissed off again
Just a quick warning, this drama contains depression and negative thoughts. It might be triggering for some. While watching it please don't take it to heart, don't forget that it's only a drama. <333
5: About Youth
Aww pink is the perfect text color for this series, okay, let's get into itttt. It's a simple cutesy plot that's set in college. The main couple meets through some coincidences, it's their first mutual meeting. But pretty boy on the left, actually had a crush on that cutie patootie on the far right for a long time.
Each character have their own problems and they share what they feel with each other. Sharing vulnerable moments slowly turns into wanting to share their happiness with each other. Scenes are so natural, dialogues don't wear you out. The main couple's story is adorable, healthy, and cutesy while the side couple's story has its own ups and downs. Well their relationship is not toxic but it grows differently, they spare themselves some time to figure out their feelings which is nice to see it
There are 8 episodes, so thanks to that, it was unavoidable to have plot holes. Especially the backstory of the characters weren't properly shown. Acting was perfect along with the chemistry. It was like a slice of life kinda plot. However towards the end, I felt like the father issue was kinda rushed. And we couldn't see more cute scenes because of that. This one needed at least 10 episodes but with eight episodes, it still 8, so no prob
6: Century of Love
I don't know how popular this is but I just know that it's not enough. Seeing an unique plot is great, it's nice to see people trying to do something new in bl. The pace was so okay for me but it could be a little slow for some. Chemistry is off the board, acting is a little exaggerated but that's how lakorn/soap opera vibes are, so it didn't bother me and the story is great.
The main couple meet because they're obviously soulmates in every life???! Like what?? I'm not even joking, that's how they fatefully meet and just stick around each other for this exact reason. But of course they start to fall in love w each other slowly. What's surprising is that we never get the answer if they're actually the soulmates in this life or not, and I think that's the message. Love will find you in 100 years as long as you live that long, pfftt just a jokeee, okay. What were we talking about? Right, oldie gold. Since the main lead is a hundred year old man, he is quite wealthy, so having an enemy is inevitable. Supporting characters richens the plot. It's quite fun to watch. If you think about their situation, their relationship at first is not the healthiest, sure but somehow it goes well w the story's essence?? Idk how to describe this better
On the other hand, I can't even say any good things about the cgi... It was just bad, did I see worse? Well definitely but that doesn't justify this one. Like, did they use a png lightning pic to create that body pain?!!! Bffr right now
7: The On1y One
Brace yourselves, because this one is a slooooww burn step brothers trope. Okay don't judge me yet, I know it's a very very off category but trust me on this one. This one is really good hahah (Nervous laughing). At first I thought it was a bromance, but toward the end it obviously shows the signs of feelings and romance growing. It has a kinda open, kinda dead end. The father and the mother in question are both single parents so they decide to live together. I didn't read the novel but I've seen people saying that in the novel, parents actually don't get married and eventually break up. But like don't trust me with this information, the only source is my butt <3
Like I mentioned, feelings and scenes happen at the slowest pace. But the scriptwriting is so good that you won't even complain about it, at least I didn't (even though I'm not normally into slow burn) I think the main reason for this is that there are no misunderstandings waiting to be resolved. Well, towards the end, of course feelings hit their, I believe, targeted points according to the script so the drama ends with unresolved/unworked feelings. (That's why I said it has a kinda open and a kinda dead end) But, they take time with their feelings, side characters fill in nicely, (also supporting characters are great, they add layers to the plot and let the simple emotional script grow with their help, I just love me a good side character!!) parents and bonding time happens naturally. Their chemistry was great and acting was good along with the camera angles and scenes. I honestly expect nothing less from a Taiwanese drama, they're rarely bad at acting. And coloring! Perfect visuals, aesthetically pleasing and harmonious scenes all the damn time! (Okay, most of the time, just in case...) The cinematography is quite satisfying. Love to see it!!! Safe to say that I'm hopelessly waiting for the season 2 but ngl it looks like it won't happen anytime soon. What if I ugly cry? Huh? How about that?
8: BL Drama no Shuen ni Narimashita: Crank Up Hen
Brown haired baby is a longtime fan of the other main who thinks he has lost his spark over time. And it's the cutest thing ever!!!! Yuichiro (the fan) meets his idol through an acting project, he tries his best not to show his excitement but he does it a little too well and so the drama starts. He keeps fangirling over him in secret while trying to keep his cool demeanor in front of him and it's the cutest toe curling fucking thing ever?!!! Just hilarious overall, this is as perfect as a romantic comedy can get. The acting was top notch, the plot is great for comedy as well
The show's second season recently ended (like a couple of months ago, if I remember correctly) it was nothing less than what I could expect! The first season is so much better in my opinion though, just saying. I wasn't expecting a second season so it was a huge surprise and a total gift! Also we get to see more of the second couple (Not too much but i think it was intentional, so yeah, I'm cool with that percentage of screen time.) which was nice. Let me just say one sentence on this, Hajime's manager!!!!!!!!! anyways soooo
There's this problem with Japanese bl though, the main couple either gets unnecessarily physical which mostly adds nothing to the plot or they don't touch each other at all???! How hard can it be to find the middle ground bruh
9: See Your Love
I'm swooning even just talking about this, it was so touching! Not because the plot is unique or the budget was extremely high, but the chemistry, acting, script writing, the dialogues!! And that one scene where Shao Peng touches Zi Xiang's adam's apple, to feel how he's saying his name... It was just *Chef's kiss*!!!!
One of the main characters is deaf and is desperately looking for a caretaking job since he's a professional at that (and unlucky because of being deaf), the other main character is being forced to take over his family business which he absolutely hates. But like, can we be real for a min there? If my family wanted to hand over their couch, I'd be hopping with happiness, do you know how much furniture costs?!!! It's crazy out there y'all. Whatever it might just be me though. But running away from the family money? Ohhhh mannnn I would nevaaaaaaa
Whew, okay back to the topic. He also has his cousin as a rival whom he admires and sees as his brother. Well ifykyk, if there's a rival, there's a death threat, yes even from family. Thanks to him being so clumsy (on purpose actually, this one's sly and I love that for him), the main characters cross paths. And with effort, genuine feelings and respect, love grows! You get emotional while watching their love forming. It's so wholesome how their relationship and bond grows healthily
10: My Tooth Your Love
You can pretty much guess the whole plot from the show's name, a dentist falls in love with his patient who's afraid of dentists. I know, simple. BUT they're just so damn sweet!!
The main boy, (second from the right) has a dentist trauma from his childhood, but I feel like it wasn't really necessary. I know at least two people who are afraid of dentists because of failed or painful procedures. He could've just been scared of dentists for no reason and I'd still think that he's right. They're such a nice match, together they fill the screen! They solve the problems through their love and just end the show with pure happiness
Side couples, yes there are two side couples, were good as well. With their own storylines, they all had a different pace in how their relationships developed. Very nicely done.
I just can't compliment this show enough, I should probably stop talking or it'll start to look too biased (it is)
Think about the oldest BLs you've ever watched. They have to have been released prior to 2020. Now name 5 - 10 iconic scenes that you cannot forget.
I was tagged by the always wonderful @ommited-miscellaneously and @italianpersonwithashippersheart awhile ago but I have not been well. I feel okayish right now so I'm gonna try to do this now cause it looks like so much fun.
Seven Days - 2015
This scene where Seiryo watches Shino and admires his stance. Something about this scene is just everything to me.
2Moons2 - 2019
When Yo spins and Phu sees him wearing glasses and realizes everything. This just proves that Yo should have kept his glasses and also that everyone should always keep their glasses.
3 Will Be Free - 2019
Mae and Tur laying back to back. This scene is just so...I don't even have the words. Mae my beloved. I hope she is living her best life and getting all the hugs she wants.
Dark Blue Kiss - 2019
The moment right before the underwater kiss when Kao dives into the pool. This was the moment for me. It was Kao finally letting himself be free.
Until We Meet Again - 2019
When Pharm meets In's sister. We know I love siblings and sibling love across reincarnations? Beautiful.
There are many more that could have made this list but I am now out of energy. Tagging @heretherebedork and anyone who wants to do it. I do not remember who all has done it already.
Dean [Until We Meet Again & Between Us] - I do not remember seeing this, but I have the picture, so it must've happened. It’s a compass on his hip because he was lost without Phram and always looking for direction.
Win [Until We Meet Again & Between Us] – We will hopefully find out something next month when the series begins, but even if we don’t, we can still appreciate that these are henna including those angel wings.
Jang JaeYoung [Semantic Error] - Does it have meaning? As he stated in the series, “Not really. I just liked it” but I'm seeing an eclipse thanks to Ayan's hoodie.
Chu SangWoo [Semantic Error] – Hand drawn by JaeYoung, and it is the first image JaeYoung ever drew for him when they first met in the episode one.
Black/White [Not Me] – White had to get it because Black had it, and Black had it because..no idea, but it could symbolize death or strength.
Yok [Not Me] – Mandarin on the flank means mom, but the birds and the forearm one, no idea.
Tonhon [Tonhon Chonlatee] – “An anchor is what a navigator or sailor uses to hold his vessel to the ocean. Tonhon means a navigator. That’s why I had this anchor tattooed on my left chest to remind me that my heart will not drift away. It will be with the ocean and that is your name, Chonlatee, forever. Every time I look at it, it reminds me that I have you in my heart all the time.”
Kamol [Unforgotten Night] – I didn’t watch this, so I’m guessing that it was because he had pet tigers, and I'm fine believing that.
Mangkorn [Big Dragon] – Mangkorn means dragon, and he is the dragon (Yang) to Yai’s tiger (Yin).
Porsche [KinnPorsche] – A phoenix because that was his underground fighting alias, fire is his friend (he gets the fire started in the woods, he starts a fire in his first week on the job, he smokes), his mom used to tell him stories about the phoenix rising from the ashes, his color in the series is yellow, and he is the phoenix/fire (Yang) to Kinn’s tortoise/water personality (Yin - he's like his mom).
Pete [KinnPorsche] – “No legacy is so rich as honesty” is from Shakespeare’s comedy All’s Well That Ends Well, which is about a woman of lower rank trying to marry the man she loves who is of a higher rank. The quote shows not only to live an honest life (in a play full of dishonesty), but to be honest with oneself, something that Pete does in the end when…you know.
Ram [My Engineer] – Has a dream catcher on his neck to chase away bad dreams, a wolf on his arm, a tribal turtle on his shoulder, and a few others.
Forth [2 Moons 2] – Actor’s actual tattoo. Might be a Sak Yant tattoo for good fortune.
Sarawat [2gether] – Actor’s actual tattoo. I think it was something about remembering who you are.
Gene [Lovely Writer] - Actor's actual tattoo. A family portrait. Thanks @calipigio
Phupha [A Tale of Thousand Stars] - Actor's actual tattoo. It now has a quote above it. He also has two thigh tattoos ("Be somebody nobody thought you could be" and "Every sunset is an opportunity to reset"), "PEACE" on his bicep, and an upper back tattoo. *whispers "I love him"* Thanks @veemark
Ai [Ai Long Nhai] – Actor's actual tattoo. A crescent moon. Thanks @mushiemadarame for letting me know it's his.
Ayan [The Eclipse] – Actor’s actual tattoos. The thigh one is a G-Dragon lyric telling his mother not to worry about him. Hip tattoo is "beautiful" (seen in Only Friends) *A little salty about the hip one*
