Sanosuke Sagara — Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) Black-and-white portrait of Sanosuke Sagara, based on Nobuhiro Watsuki’s original manga art from the 1990s. Drawn traditionally using pencil and Indian ink, keeping flat blacks and clean contrasts inspired by the original manga style.

Hero Form Appearance: A combination of a street ready warrior’s ensemble and YuYuYu’s Hero Form outfits. The undersuit is a jet black, which helps make the crimson red stand out. The main outfit is red all around, and becomes white when you reach the lower half of the sleeves, the lower half of the pants, and the tailcoat. Accent colors include gold, silver, gray, black, and ivory. The boots, headband, and gloves all have patterns of azalea flowers on them, and the only other accessory is a red azalea brooch on the left breast. The flower’s petal shape can be seen in the tailcoat, sleeves, and collar.

Bio: A street fighter who befriends Kenshin early in the series. As a youth, Sanosuke ran away from home to join the Sekiho Army, a group of farmers and merchants who fought for the Ishin Shishi during the Meiji Revolution. When the Sekiho were betrayed and executed by the other revolutionaries, Sanosuke escaped and becomes a fighter-for-hire to vent his anger. He is hired to attack Kenshin, a former Ishin Shishi, but when Sanosuke is defeated he becomes Kenshin's best friend and fighting partner. His real name is Higashidani Sanosuke.
