Stargate SG-1 | "Mobius"
Amanda Tapping and Michael Shanks understood the assignment.
Daniel and Sam song of the day.
OK I know that behind the scenes Michael Shanks simply copied Spader's performance to a T to get the role of Daniel Jackson, and then just gradually stepped away from it to add more of himself,
but in-universe, it's my headcanon that Daniel changed that much because he was hanging out with Sam so much she rubbed off on him.
Also, after Jack had left, he felt the subconscious need to fill in the snark void.
Rewatching SG1 again
Does anyone else get vibes from sam and Daniel season 1?

They're so cute! The notes, the easy banter about the muffins, all adorable.
Thank you <3 They were just supposed to be a few paragraphs in Raindrops, but I kind of fell in love with them. (Surprise surprise!)
Sunshine
Hey! Remember Sam and Daniel from Raindrops? They’re back because I’m a little in love with them. I even found pictures of people who I decided look like them that I’ll be posting! (I wish I could art better because I really want them cuddling in that chair...)
Anyway, here’s another little story about these two, there’ll probably be more. I hope you enjoy it (I’m not sure it’s as good as Raindrops, but there still pretty cute, so....)

Daniel stretches lazily, letting the mid-morning sun spilling around the curtains warm his bare skin and letting the softness of the bed sheets help to ground his sleepy senses. His hand goes automatically to the other side of the bed; he knows it will be empty, but it’s a habit borne of years of off-set schedules and helped along by a little bit of hope.
Sam’s side of the bed is cool to the touch, and he takes the briefest moment to be disappointed, but a fond smile curls his lips before he can even open his eyes properly. Sam is a morning person, Daniel is very much not. They used to joke that it was an indicator that they could never work. Of course now, five years together has proven the joke to be both unfunny and false.
Daniel rolls toward Sam’s side of the bed anyway, finally forcing his eyes open, squinting until they adjust to the brightness of the room. His eyes land on the photographs on the dresser, an artfully framed testament of their journey together, of the life they’ve built. Birthdays, anniversaries, holidays with their families, nights out with friends. It’s a good life, and the way his chest fills with warmth has nothing to do with the sunshine filling the room.
His eyes scan the room unhurriedly, taking in all the little signs of their shared life; Sam’s sweater thrown over the chair in the corner and his own shoes sitting beside it, slightly askew where he’d toed them off the night before. The way their clothes hang in the closet, Sam’s brightly colored shirts and Daniel’s sensible vests and slacks that he wore to work. The thought of work pulls a groan from him, and he flops gracelessly back onto his back.
He’s very grateful for being able to set his own class schedule, if he had to get up early to deal with undergrads struggling to understand the finer points of Human Sexuality and Modern Literature, he’d probably end up in jail by mid-semester.
When he reaches for his glasses, he notices a note in Sam’s familiar curly script: Good Morning, Sunshine! I went for an early walk to take some pictures, should be back to see you off to work. I’ll bring muffins - xo
Sam grins, tucking the note into the top drawer of his nightstand, adding it to the ever growing pile of them; he’ll have to put them in the shoebox on the top shelf of their closet soon.
Next to the notes, there’s a small square box that contains the ring Daniel will use to propose this weekend, his fingers trail over the velveteen box reverently, his grin blooming into a bright, anticipatory smile.
He shuffles to the bathroom and starts the shower while he brushes his teeth, the counter cluttered with their respective washing and shaving accoutrement, their matching bathrobes hanging on the door, all the further evidence of their relationship, their life, it sends a rush of contentment through him.
The shower is blessedly hot, and Daniel stands under the spray for a long moment just letting the water sluice over him, watching the drops of water gather on the shower walls and slide down the tile. He thinks that Sam would appreciate the way the little trails of water paint random webs on the pale grey. The hopper windows high on the walls let in a flood of light, filling the space with a warm glow.
The rush of the water must dull his senses, because the curtain opening startles him, but the familiar feel of Sam’s arms around him and the light scratch of stubble where Sam presses a kiss to his neck soothes him.
Daniel’s arms settle over Sam’s, their fingers lacing effortlessly together. “‘Good morning,” Daniel says, turning his head to capture Sam’s mouth in a brief kiss. They’re both smiling when they part, and Sam chases Daniel’s retreating lips with his own to catch another.
“Mornin’, Sunshine,” Sam grins around the endearment, it started as a tease, a comment on Daniel’s disdain for the early morning hours, but they both know that Sam means it as an attestation to the way that Daniel brightens his life. Daniel snorts and Sam buries his answering laugh in Daniel’s shoulder.
“Mmm, I believe I was promised muffins by a kind, handsome man; did you happen to see one on your way in?” Daniel turns in Sam’s embrace, rolling his eyes as soon as they make contact with Sam’s.
Sam runs a hand up Daniel’s back, the other reaching for his favorite soap, rolling it in his hand to build a lather, but unwilling to stop trailing his other hand over the smooth, wet expanse of Daniel’s back. “I did in fact see him,” Sam nods, his soapy hand joining the other to massage the lather over Daniel’s skin. “I saw him, and I insisted he give me the muffins so that I could use them to woo the incredibly smart, sexy man who lives here.”
Daniel groans a little as Sam’s slick hands find a particularly pleasant spot and rests his forehead against Sam’s. “Can I tell you a secret? It’s totally going to work. As long as you have an orange cranberry one.”
Sam laughs and Daniel kisses the sound out of his mouth. “Good thing I do then.”
“Lucky me,” Daniel replies with a wicked grin, and as Sam walks him back into the spray, kissing him the whole time, Daniel thinks that despite the fact that he’s the one with the sunny nickname, that Sam has brightened his life in more ways than he can count. Lucky me, indeed, he thinks, smiling into the kiss and letting his own hands explore, doubly glad for his self determined schedule; he would much rather miss the sunshine this way than trapped in a classroom.

I hope you like these two as much as I do! I really have to start posting things at a reasonable hour...
