I've been thinking about Sasharchivist a lot lately (almost entirely thanks to @sarcasticscribbles lovely artwork).
Something interesting about that AU, as I would write it, is the potential to use Jon Sims chronic (and perhaps terminal) Main Character Syndrome to my advantage.
Like, let's say they still hire Jon in this AU, just as an archival assistant alongside Martin and Tim. Tim is so jovial and laid back that Jon can't help but have an elitist complex about him, and Martin, not under threat of being fired by his boss, reveals that he lied on his CV to Jon much earlier. Jon sees his own lack of qualifications in both of them and internalizes it until he becomes Mister Mystery Solver incredibly early on.
Jon goes to investigate even without Sasha's request or approval. Jon catalogues and defines actors and characters alongside Sasha and is a teachers pet of sorts. He's already in the tunnels before season 1 is over.
And then the horrors get to him! Hooray!
He is TERMINALLY The Eye. He wants to know. If he wasn't forced to be in charge, I think he'd play things even more risky than he did in the original universe.
