I hate when people say how Sasuke killing the elders and other people responsible for Uchiha genocide is bad because it continues the cycle of violence. But it literally doesn't. That isn't even revenge, it's just justice. If Sasuke were to commit a genocide on a clan of elder THAT would be continuing cycle of violence. But purely killing the elders is literally just justice being served. The elders, Danzo and Hiruzen didn't show remorse for their actions. They didn't care, in fact they'd 100% do it again if necessary. So Sasuke has no reason to forgive them or even consider forgiving them. Just because justice is violent doesn't mean it isn't correct.

they should've kept the falcon as sasuke's animal. the snake was never his, it was orochimaru's and that should be over when itachi finally sealed him and removed the curse for good. sasuke even changed his team name after finding the truth, he's detaching himself from orochimaru to follow his own path, his powers aren't needed anymore because they fulfilled their purpose: killing his brother. but they had to make that parallel between team7 and the legendary sannin. naruto and sakura follow after them, but sasuke was never orochimaru's pupil, he was one of his victims. maybe sasuke could still be able to use the snakes, since is something he learned, but forcing him to be orochimaru.2 is simply dishonest.

On Sasuke and Itachi

It kind of makes me rabid when people say Itachi "loved" Sasuke, as if his entire motivation isn't love and was instead something else. Itachi's motivation is entirely Sasuke and his safety, and Itachi had a lot of ideas about what would make him happy too, and I love that. Itachi is HORRIBLY flawed, but to say he didn't love Sasuke is weird. You can love someone and hurt them. You can love someone and be abusive to them in the same breath, ESPECIALLY when you think you're doing the right thing. I know a lot of people think Itachi's og motivations were retconned (I actually think this could be true myself), but then they use that to dismiss the story in front of us. To be honest Itachi is extremely parentified. Itachi sacrifices everything for Sasuke in the same way a parent should, and he's seen taking care of Sasuke constantly when they're younger. He worries about Sasuke's wellbeing, picks up on things their father doesn't, and even puts Fugaku in the position of having to go to Sasuke's graduation by saying he wasn't going to go on an important mission with the intent of making Fugaku say he would go instead, because Itachi knew what that meant to Sasuke. Despite Itachi's mission and intentions we even see him stop putting on his act of being disgusted with the clan AND apologize specifically because Sasuke called out to him and begged him to stop (I suppose there are a lot of ways to interpret the scene, but I do think it rings as Itachi honestly backing down because of Sasuke).

Itachi is almost yandere in his love for Sasuke (something Sasuke actually also echoes near the end of Shippuden; these two are so unhealthy about each other), and he truly thinks what he's doing is to Sasuke's benefit. Itachi's decisions are informed by the propaganda he bought into as a young child (Konoha good, the few for the many), and the trauma he suffered (war bad, he doesn't want Sasuke to have to suffer that too). Itachi also values human life in a very utilitarian manner, so to him he should make the decision that does the greatest amount of good, even if that decision is fucking horrific. I love that about him. I love that he's doing his best and his best is awful. I saw a post once saying that Itachi didn't think like a Hokage at a young age, he thought like what Danzo's idea of a Hokage was. I understand what this post was trying to say, but I disagree. Even Tsunade was extremely utilitarian and would sacrifice the few for the many, every Hokage was like this. Whether you think this is right or wrong (it is wrong) this is accurate to the way a Hokage is expected to think, and that's exactly how Itachi is.

As a Sasuke fan first and an Itachi fan second he does drive me crazy at times. Saying Sasuke is a blank canvas that can be painted any color was wrong. Sasuke made decisions Itachi didn't anticipate, and some of the decisions Sasuke made that Itachi was so unsure of only happened BECAUSE Sasuke learned the truth. Itachi had Shisui's eye implanted into Naruto, and it would activate when it came into contact with Itachi's eyes. Itachi did this because he "knew" Sasuke would want to take his eyes, because it's hi had been guiding Sasuke to want his eyes, but Sasuke ONLY did that after learning the truth. In fact, Sasuke didn't even take Itachi's eyes immediately; Sasuke didn't want Itachi's eyes until he started to really break down, and by that point he was basically blind and out of options anyway. Sasuke's initial plans were to hunt down the only other person who awakened the Mangekyou and kill them. Sasuke didn't want Itachi's power, he wanted to be better than that. Sasuke valued human life in a very Kantian manner, and he only ever killed two people on purpose until his breakdown started.

Sasuke is a very emotional character, and god help him the poor kid was never NOT being manipulated by at least one person, sometimes two to three. Sasuke has the worst luck of anyone in Naruto. Every time something starts going well for him it goes worse. He's his father's least favorite child, his entire clan is killed, he's put on a team with a teacher that doesn't teach and two of the academy's lowest performers (Sakura was only ever good at theory), and he has to basically carry this team, he nearly dies in the land of waves, nearly dies in the chunin exams like twice (and gets shit for trying to keep the other to alive), he gets the curse mark, and then Itachi shows up and ruins all of the healing Sasuke has done, traumatizes him, and Sasuke is put in a coma only to wake up feeling weak and behind, have his teacher invalidate his trauma, and then learn his curse mark WILL get worse and he kinda HAS to go to Orochimaru. AND THAT'S ONLY PART ONE. Sasuke held himself together so fucking well that by the time he went apeshit I was totally with him.

So yeah, Itachi was a big part of that problem, it's even hinted at in Shippuden that Itachi may have been using Orochimaru to get Sasuke stronger (making Sasuke strong enough to protect himself was one of Itachi's ultimate goals), and we all know the imagery associated with Orochimaru and Sasuke hint at something very dark (whether it took place or not). Itachi was constantly fucking up. His fear of Sasuke being hurt drove him to abuse and traumatize the person he loved most (as we know the road hell is paved with good intentions), but in the end Itachi apologized and changed (as shown by him finally telling Sasuke the entire truth, including about Shisui's eyes, a thing Sasuke probably never would have found out if Itachi didn't say something, like he fully could have lied by omission here and gotten away with it). Itachi also didn't expect Sasuke to forgive him. Whether that seems like enough to y'all, it makes sense to me that Sasuke forgave him. As someone who also forgave and abusive family member who loved me and tried their (very bad) best, an apology can mean the world, despite some of the absolutely rancid shit they did to you, as long as it's paired with genuine change. It's up to the abused whether they forgive their abuser, and Sasuke chose to. Sasuke chose to understand the intention behind Itachi's actions, and he decided that the intention meant more to him than the outcome. Very sweet, but I think he should have gotten to whack Itachi at least once (as a treat).

Anyway I'm not sure any of this was coherent, but I love the Uchiha brothers. Their relationship is so complex and difficult and INSANE. They're codependent and overly attached, and both of them base all of their motivations around each other. I love the way Sasuke echoes Itachi's words to Orochimaru ("Try all the jutsu you wish, but my eyes can see through all of them.") right at Orochimaru as well. I love the way that in their final fight death match they just have like a normal brother argument right in the middle of it (S: Didn't I tell you? You can use those eyes of yours all you want, but with just my hatred, I will turn illusion into reality. I: Turn illusion into reality, huh? Then allow me to throw those words right back at you.), and then some of their fighting literally just is a brother scrap match. I love the way they look alike and act alike, and I adore Sasuke tapping his own forehead with two fingers because he misses his brother just as much as I adore Itachi refusing to do that in their final talk and instead putting their foreheads together. I am rotating them in my brain and I want to chew on them.

I also love that Itachi is the number 1 sns shipper. Not a single Uchiha was straight and honestly? Good for them.

The Last Uchiha: The True Protagonist the Fandom Refused to Understand

When I was a kid, like many others, I grew up watching Dragon Ball Z, Saint Seiya, and other classics. But one day, Naruto appeared on TV. I remember that blond boy with the Nine-Tailed Fox sealed inside him — the outcast who dreamed of becoming Hokage. And like everyone else, I was drawn to his light, to his story, to his so-called “heart of gold.”

But then he appeared. Sasuke Uchiha.

The dark boy. The avenger. The arrogant one. The one the fandom branded as “emo” and “traitor.” For years, I saw him the way everyone else did — without truly understanding him. Until I grew up.

The Boy Who Lost Everything

With time, I began to see what hid behind that cold stare. I saw the child who once smiled. The boy who loved his mother, admired his father, idolized his brother. A happy child… until tragedy devoured everything he had.

Sasuke wasn’t born broken; he was broken by a rotten system.

A system that used his brother as a weapon. That slaughtered his entire clan “to preserve peace.” That left a single child alive… just to carry the guilt of surviving.

From that day on, Sasuke lived through a hell no one wanted to understand. Each night, he relived the massacre through Tsukuyomi — screams, cries, pleas for mercy, the faces of decapitated infants, and his dead parents. Every dawn, he remembered the blood of his clan. Every step was an echo of a life that no longer existed. And yet, he survived.

The System’s Victim

The fandom calls him a “whiny emo bitch,” but tell me — What would you do if the system, your village, and your brother destroyed everything you loved?

What if the “hero” and supposed "best friend" everyone worships defended the same system that took your family?

What if the so-called “friends” who judged you never even tried to understand you?

Sasuke wasn’t a traitor. He was the most honest victim of the shinobi lie.

While Konoha pretended to be a beacon of peace, it sacrificed children as offerings to war. While Naruto dreamed of recognition, Sasuke only wanted justice. And while Kakashi preached “protect your friends,” he denied Sasuke the right to his pain and vengeance — yet helped Shikamaru with his.

Pure hypocrisy.

Those Who Never Understood Him

Naruto never understood him. He mistook loneliness for loss, envy for empathy. He wanted to “save” Sasuke to feel like a hero, not to free him.

Sakura only idolized him and became obsessed with him in a one-sided, unrequited love. She mocked the orphan (Naruto) in front of another orphan (Sasuke). And years later, she proudly wore the symbol of the clan than her village helped destroy, as if it were a trophy.

Kakashi projected his own failures onto Sasuke. He didn’t understand him.

Itachi, the brother he loved so deeply, betrayed him in the name of false peace. He manipulated him, stole his childhood and free will — all so he could serve the same system that annihilated his clan.

And in the end, when Sasuke tried to break his chains, everyone called him a monster. But the monster wasn’t him.

The monster was the world that forced him to become one.

The True Protagonist

Sasuke Uchiha was never a side character or an antagonist. He was the antihero — the true protagonist of the series.

He’s the more human reflection: the one who bleeds, doubts, and cries in silence while the world smiles in hypocrisy.

While Naruto embodies the ideal, Sasuke embodies the reality. A child soldier, victim of fascism disguised as peace. A young man who chose to question the system instead of serving it once he learned the truth.

The only one brave enough to close his eyes and say:

“The guilty must pay.”

And yet, they chained him in the end. They married him to a woman he didn’t love. Turned him into a loyal dog for the same village that destroyed his life. They even stole his ending.

The Legacy of a Truly Free Man

Sasuke should never have been a prisoner of Konoha. He should’ve been free — free from that damn village. A leader of his own path, alongside the only ones who truly understood him: Karin, Suigetsu, and Jūgo.

Team Taka — the broken, the rejected, the misunderstood.

They didn’t judge him. They didn’t use him. They didn’t betray him.

They followed him because they believed in him.

Sasuke and Karin together could’ve lit a flame no shinobi world could ever extinguish. A legacy born from pain, but filled with truth.

The Final Reflection

Sasuke Uchiha isn’t a villain. He isn’t a brooding emo. He isn’t insane.

He’s the voice of the child who lost everything yet still stands. The most human soul in a world of tools. The silent scream of those who were used, manipulated, and forgotten.

If you ever called him a “ridiculous emo,” look again. If you ever called him arrogant, listen to his story. And if you ever thought Naruto was the hero, maybe it’s time to face the truth:

The real hero was the one who dared to question everything — the one who stood against the system.

Sasuke Uchiha — the last Uchiha, the true protagonist of the wrong anime. The boy who only ever wanted justice, freedom… and a hug.

Sounds dumb, but this is literally the basis under which all Itachi fanboys operate...

...on top of, and I am not making this up, some bozos literally comparing the Uchiha to motherfucking JEWS, while blindly glorifying Itachi's action, being far too braindead to see the problematic implication behind that train of thought. I won't spell it out, just do the math.

But either way, I will not make it a secret: I absolutely hate this character (mostly for what he gets hailed as, and the fandom being too mentally stuck-up to understand what he even represents), and like Naruto and Sasuke, he was the only one to be getting perpetually sucked and jerked off by Kishimoto and his editors, to hell and back, and for some reason, they really felt the need to WHITEWASH everything he did, especially in the novels, by stating that "Itachi only killed the adults, Obito killed the children"...

...as if, this is even remotely better or "easier" to defend. Which I don't understand, because, what point is there in playing the moral apostle for the fandom, when that has never once stopped anyone from still loving a purely evil and unapologetic villain, no matter what they did. When has that stopped ANYONE? Let's be real. Just because you love the villain, doesn't mean you automatically agree with everything they did, nor do you sympathize with their destructive mindsets. I can't believe I have to explain this in the year 2025.

Plus, I need to remind you all, this is the same character, to be treated and hailed by the general fandom as the "innocent, pure-hearted, loving brother" of Sasuke, when moments like this...

...or this...

...or this...

...or this, exist.

And before you get any wrong impressions here, I am not here to pretend that the world that these characters operated in, gave anyone a "moral high-ground" or anything, this entire story is supposed to be a nod to the Edo period of Japan, where annihilation of entire bloodlines was pretty commonplace at that time. Even children found their way to the butcher bank, because, that is just what happened, it's nothing but diabolical and more demonic than Satan himself, but there was nothing you could do about it, it was pretty normalized and accepted back then...

...However, in the case of Itachi here, the core issue I have with this entire character is that: He is literally, a writer's pet. Everything he does, is mindblowingly stupid and braindead, thinking he is playing 4D chess, when really, everything only worked out, because of plot armor. There were far too many factors that could have easily caused all of his "plans" to fall apart at the seams, and there he would stand, looking dazed and surprised like a jumpscared kid after playing FNAF for the first time.

...But for some reason, his stupidity is treated as "intelligent writing", when it's a clear-cut case of Kishimoto perpetually giving this character the "Golden Boy" treatment, making every action of his "easier to defend" as the story progressed, because ohhh, we have Obito now, and he is literally destroying the world over a random no-name girl, that didn't even love him back (seriously, how people even call this guy the "anti-Naruto", when they are literally nothing alike, Naruto eventually moved on from Sakura).

Plus, the biggest gripe I have with Itachi, is the point that, in-universe, people like Hashirama or Hiruzen refer to Itachi as a "model Hokage, who was already thinking like one, even as a kid" (which, by the way, let's be dead serious for a second, even in a fantastical setting, this just sounds cringeworthy, kids can't even tell the difference between dishwasher pads, and candy), who always puts the needs of everyone else above his own, when, if you start thinking about it for even a few seconds, you should realize (and if you don't, you should ask questions), this is freaking RETARDED.

First of all, the entire story of Naruto, is a Battle Shonen. First and foremost. And it did everything it could to remind us that Konoha's elderly leadership -- and that of the other villages -- is nothing short of corrupt and as morally vacant as a desert, the typical Shonen angle of "Good VS Evil", you know? That's the setup. But, with Itachi, for some reason, the massacre, that he himself committed (let us not bullshit around here, nothing he did, was a result of brainwashing, moral tampering or Genjutsu, everything Itachi did, was while completely sober and awake), gets painted as a "necessary evil", and the true bad guys behind it all, the elders, even Hiruzen (who never once stepped in to prevent any of Danzo's bullshit tomfoolery), never once have to face any level of accountability, and Itachi's actions suddenly get glorified as "needed bloodshed, for the greater good". It's not shown off as a genuine failure of leadership, which, factually speaking it IS, now, it appears that, it was "needed". Sure, butchering children and women on the open up like pigs on a European meat market, is most definitely needed to preserve peace for everyone else, that is ignorant to the core cause of all the wars beforehand, and then wonders why it hasn't stopped since. Genius.

And secondly, the worst part, and this is what personally gets the most about this entire circus act: By having to paint Itachi as the "saint" in this entire situation, it just causes, in hindsight, all of Sasuke's actions and behavior to come off as if, HE is the problem. HE is the overentitled manchild, who should be "grateful" that the Leaf village was only able to keep him alive and safe, because Itachi had them all twirled around his thumb, and that him going to Orochimaru was just him being a bitter and hateful douchebag, who doesn't "appreciate those, important to him".

And THIS is what PISSES me off the hardest!

Realtalk, this is the most tonedeaf creative writing decision I have ever seen, in my time on this godforsaken earth, even more than the Black Zetsu retcon.

Shots fired.

And sure, let's assume that Itachi actually DID love his brother, in his really messed up and twisted way, the fact that, the entirety of Naruto's narrative, especially near the endgame, is hinging on kissing Itachi's ass, borderline GLORIFYING his actions as "necessary evil", which inadvertently ends up painting Sasuke's actions and behavior as "unreasonable", "immature" or "entitled", IS NEXT-LEVEL DELULU!

SASUKE. WAS. GRIEVING!

You really mean to tell me that, had you been in Sasuke's shoes, you would have NOT gone off the rails? Who are you kidding? Sasuke learned the hard way, that his entire life, and everything he had ever believed in, was a lie. And suddenly, everyone is becoming certified BRAINDEAD, agreeing with Danzo's narrative of Sasuke "being beyond saving, and having grown too psychotic to talk to", along with Itachi's sociopathic way of treating the lives around himself as "expendable for the greater good", as if years of empathy and camaraderie never existed between ANY of the Konoha 12! FUCK. OFF! SASUKE IS THE VICTIM HERE! NO DISCUSSION NEEDED FOR THIS.

IT'S FUCKING COMMON SENSE!

And because of all this, to this day, we still have morons, who unironically believe, that "Sasuke is the lame one" and "Itachi is the REAL GOAT", even though, everything Sasuke did was completely logically sound and justified, especially from his POV, as opposed to this overgrown, self-indulgent, ginormous ASSHOLE, who suddenly had everyone around him sympathize with HIS course of action, while vilifying Sasuke as the problem here, despite him being the core reason, why Sasuke turned out this way. HE traumatized Sasuke beyond repair, HE ruined his life. NO ONE ELSE. NO ONE told him to put Sasuke under endless Genjutsu loops for days on end (twice in a row, mind you) forcing him to relive the trauma, with no end in sight...

...but sure, Sasuke is the problem. You guys really need a mental evaluation. But sadly, there is no cure for being so dumb and heartless, at the same time.

In fact, THIS fact especially kills me in all of this. The fanbase's blatant double standards, too, if the previous points weren't bad enough. The same people who call Sasuke "pathetic", "entitled" or "ungrateful", turn around and write novel-sized essays about how Itachi is supposedly "the best-written character of all time", because he cried once while committing mass murder. Bro didn't even cry for the kids he slaughtered. He cried for himself. But hey, slap a tragic soundtrack behind it and suddenly he's a misunderstood philosopher. Einstein-level brain flash.

Not to mention. Itachi? Smart? Pffft. Tell this to the same guy, who blindly put faith in the same man to "keep Sasuke safe", while he paid off Orochimaru to plant all of the Uchiha eyes in his arms, while also traumatizing Sasuke even further, as his "disciple".

And about that... If filler is to be believed, then Itachi's IQ is below 0 degrees, freezing temperatures level, because, he KNEW who Orochimaru was, when he worked for the Akatsuki. He knew him. He even blatantly told him his plans of needing an Uchiha for his ultimate plans, but when Sasuke was brought up, Itachi did NOTHING to keep this slimy bastard's filthy, child-diddling hands off of his younger brother. If he truly loved him, he wouldn't have let it happen, and it just adds to how much better of a character Itachi was, when he was unapologetically evil. Since, all of this, is contradicting the narrative that the story tries to push about him...

...had he killed Orochimaru, then Konoha would have had one less evil bastard to deal with, but nope. He didn't give a shit, he just let him live, he gave him the Hiruzen treatment of remaining passive, while also being an incompetent shithead. Thanks for the help, Itachi. Really appreciated.

Thus, causing even more damage to the lineage he is from, and for what? Solidarity? The mere short-sightedness of Itachi's actions just baffles me, but even more so, when you consider that, every time his actions got put into question by anybody in the story, flashback, flashback, on top of flashback, just trying their absolute hardest to polish Itachi's image, as if ANYONE should feel ashamed to admit that they love a psychopathic villain, who just sees the entire world around him as "always meant to be dying", being an even bigger nihilist than Neji ever was. Again... When has that ever deterred ANYONE from still loving a purely evil and deluded villain? Itachi was far better off as a character, when he REMAINED a villain, because then, no one would have to be made dumber than him, all because his stupid ass couldn't question authority, despite knowing full well, how much his own kin suffered for CENTURIES. He is a lemming. Nothing else. He lived as one, and died as one. There is nothing respectable about him.

He is a freaking character study on how much an author like Kishimoto has written himself into a corner. Every time Itachi's choices are questioned, the story hits us with another flashback or confession, purely to justify why he did, what he did, and in the process, it ended up having the complete opposite of the intended effect. With every flashback, it made Itachi appear more and more like a braindead moron, as the story progressed. Over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. It's like the entire moral framework of Naruto, the cast, and the world around him, has to bend ass backwards, just to make sure that Itachi still, somehow, against all the odds, looks noble to the viewer or reader, even when his actions contradict every empowering theme the series supposedly stands for. And for a Shonen, that was a pretty low-hanging fruit to catch, and he couldn't even do that. It's just embarrassing.

In conclusion:

I'm just so freaking tired of pretending that Itachi is some "mystical, morally complex" genius when he's literally the biggest moron in the entire series, and the best part of it all, Sasuke in Boruto, is literally Itachi 2.0. You would think that after all this trauma he endured because of his scumbag of a brother, he would know better than to subject his own family through the exact same thing, that he had to endure growing up: Crippling loneliness, and a family, that only loves THE IDEA of you, not who you are.

He doomed his clan, ruined his brother's life, possibly beyond repair (that is perfectly reflected in how in Boruto, Sarada gets, for some reason, treated the exact same way as Sasuke, except, he is her father now, and he is just as incompetent and braindead as Itachi), weakened the same village he claimed to care oh so much about, and somehow became a messiah, because he looked sad while being an absolutely heartless menace. I swear, if he had tripped while holding a kunai, the fandom would still call it "playing 4D chess".

Anyway, if you still think Itachi did nothing wrong:

That's between you and whatever version of reality you've made up to survive.
