Scarlet Fever - one shot (rosquez)
Let's all say thank you to Ducati for the insane video of Marc yesterday. Here's my ode to that.
--------------------------------
Valentino got the notification whilst he was sitting at home. It was from the official Ducati Instagram, Pecco’s team and now Marc’s team. He clicked on it before he could think twice; it was only once the clip had loaded that he realised that it was Marc, not Pecco.
Valentino froze. Everything was red. Marc was in all red. The bike, the leathers, his helmet. All in a startling, blood red. Valentino gulped. In the video, Marc stared into the camera, a challenge in his expression. Valentino remembered being on the receiving end of that look. He shivered. He couldn’t tear his eyes away. Marc looked sinful. Reaching out towards his bike, the red leather stretched over his big hands. Big hands that could do sinful things. Those same hands caressing his helmet, putting it on. Marc on the bike, his hips pushed back and his body low. Valentino thought about the way Marc used to whine under him, arching his back and pushing his hips in search of friction.
Vale swallowed, hard.
The video looped again.
Marc’s face, illuminated, highlighting his jaw and cheek bones. His lips, plush and inviting. The way the 93 was plastered across the bike, branded in only one way. Marc’s bike. His scarlet Ducati. Valentino wanted to take Marc across the bike, fuck him until he cried and came over the violent red. He wanted to come on the leathers, on Marc, on the 93. He wanted to brand Marc as his.
Vale swept his eyes across the screen, noting the way Marc sat, his legs spread across the bike. He envisioned himself curved over Marc on the bike. Marc’s legs spread like a whore, his moans echoing around the room.
Valentino watched the way Marc’s arms folded over his chest, exuding complete control and confidence. Valentino imagined that way Marc would beg on his knees, asking Vale for anything, anything at all. The way he would go pliant under Vale’s hands when he fucked him, his eyes hazy. His fingers itched, wanting to dig into the firm muscle of Marc’s thighs. To leave bruises underneath those red leathers.
Red. Everywhere.
Marc once more pushing his hips back. His ass branded.
Todo al rojo.
Valentino wanted to sink his teeth in. He wanted so badly it was visceral. He didn’t care that they no longer spoke. He needed Marc underneath him. He shifted on the sofa. He was hard, panting as the video looped once more.
Valentino hadn’t planned on watching the testing. But now the low pull in his gut would always make him weak.
The flu epidemic in Bulgaria has already passed its peak, according to Prof. Todor Kantardzhiev, former director of the National Center for

Medical History Question, Little Women edition: everyone seems to think having scarlet fever confers immunity (Amy gets sent away because she hasn't had it, but no one's concerned about Meg and Jo catching it because they've had it before). But if it's a streptococcus infection wouldn't it be possible to get it again? Thanks so much for your fascinating blog, and best wishes for finding a new job.
You can absolutely get scarlet fever more than once, though it's less common than getting strep throat more than once. This is because while what is actually being spread between people is group A strep bacteria, the thing causing the rash in scarlet fever is actually a reaction to a toxin produced by the bacteria. You can build up an immunity to the toxin, even if you can't build up an immunity to the bacteria themselves.
You can "catch" it as strep throat or as impetigo (a strep skin infection). You then get scarlet fever later when the toxin starts forming. Of people who get it at least once, about 10% will have it twice or more in their lifetimes.
My oldest medical text that mentions scarlet fever is from 1900, about 30-40 years after Little Women was set and written. It talks about an understanding, by then fairly well known, that one should isolate anyone sick with fever of any kind to avoid spread- including sending children away so they wouldn't catch it.
In this text, scarlet fever was mentioned as a childhood disease in the same conversation as measles and whooping cough. So it was possible that it was understood as "just one of the childhood diseases you got once as a kid and then never again" for a while in history.
Tangent:
In 1924, scientists came up with a way of testing if someone was sensitive to the toxin produced by group A strep (would get scarlet fever if they got infected with group A strep). This was called the Dick test.
To do the Dick test, a clinician would place a small amount of the toxin produced by group A strep under the skin of the patient with a needle. If, within 24 hours there was a small area of rash around where the toxin had been injected, the patient was susceptible.
In 1969, a study was carried out among elementary school children in 4 schools, where they were looking to track scarlet fever susceptibility across race, age, and socioeconomic status. In the poorest school, about 43% of students were susceptible to scarlet fever, while at the richest, nearly 90% were. This means, essentially, that poorer students were getting exposed to strep more frequently than their more affluent peers, and developing more immunity to the toxin.
Another finding was that while race had little impact on susceptibility rates, age really did. The older the student was, the less likely they were to be susceptible, meaning that there genuinely was some buildup of immunity from multiple strep infections. However, about 2/3 of children who had already scarlet fever were still susceptible to getting it again.
All that to say- there is some immunity that can be built up from the toxin, so they weren't completely wrong, but having it once does not full immunity make.
I wasn't really sure if I wanted to post anything about today, but here goes anyway. Today April 26 is my birthday and I am very grateful for another year no matter how difficult it's been. I will continue to ask for help until I do not need it anymore if I receive any at all. But the the main focus I want to speak about is to the people out there reading this. I don't know if people can truly understand what chronic illness means and the problems it presents over a lifetime, as far as the pain and struggle Etc and how it is compounded by being destitute or poor, also unfortunately how illness tends to attract the wrong people and the suffering kind that gets taken advantage of in many ways. Like I said it's not something I can easily put into words, but what I want to say is please don't look down on individuals because you never know what they're truly going through. Over my time asking for help I've been insulted I've been laughed at I've been mocked and ridiculed. But I do understand that people don't understand and I do my best to ignore the insults, I know that many people that do this type of thing don't understand how close they are to a tragedy a couple or a few bad breaks is all it takes, but many of these confident and condescending people feel that they're Invincible for some reason and maybe they are in some ways. But again many people don't understand that for a lot of people out there chronic illness especially when it starts at the very young age and compounds the older you get it causes a set of problems that feels like a curse in many ways. Chronic illness is something that does not always present itself outwardly, what I mean to say is you can't tell of the suffering of someone by just looking at them it is not always apparent, I would ask people to have more understanding because you truly never know what somebody is going through whether it's the woman standing in line to buy her groceries or the guy sitting in his car stuck in traffic, you truly don't know of the suffering they may be going through especially if they are doing it silently and trying to hide it from the world. Be grateful for your health and your good life if you have it and please sympathize and understand that others may not have it so good. And again the assumption that someone doesn't care about themselves enough to do more is nothing but a fallacy, for many it takes a tremendous amount of strength just to survive on a daily basis and being insulted or condescended by others does not make matters any better please be kind to everyone acquaintances friends and strangers alike. As for myself I'm doing the best that I can it is taken a very long time to get into the depot that I'm in I look upward and I see the light but it is too far to reach out, I still remain hopeful and I'm not sure what it will take short of a miracle to give me something that closely resembles a normal life. If you would like to help my paypal is [email protected] I am grateful nonetheless for making it another year and I hope in my struggle that I learn to cope better and I remain confident that something good will come of my suffering, I may not understand it every day but I still know I have the chance to live a better life somehow. Take care of yourselves and be kind to others.
