...I'm putting together stuff for the Voxman reaction video. Here's a bit about the Two of Hearts scene in "Villains' Night Out."
I always assumed that "Two of Hearts" was an in-show original thing.
I only recently looked it up out of curiosity and discovered this is a reference to "Two of Hearts" by Stacey Q. It's a slow ballad take on what's otherwise a dance number. Boxman tries to refashion the lyrics into a brag about villains getting jealous of his and PV's 'friendship.'
He's playing off of these lyrics in particular:
"People get jealous 'cause we always stay together
Yeah, baby
I guess they really want a love like yours and mine
Together, forever."
I'm sure Voxman fans have written and drawn countless song fics and comics comparing their relationship with the song lyrics. "Two of Hearts" is a song about someone feeling like their lover rescued them from 'falling apart' and feels like they're a more complete, fulfilled person with the other around. They're an enviable team together. It...tracks that Boxman has that kind of romantic fantasy.
It's also really funny that Boxman starts the number as an excuse to pull Venomous over to him, but as he gets worked up, he pushes him aside and to the floor. He's so wrapped up in his own hype and performance that he forgets the whole goal was supposed to be wooing PV with a serenade. Boxman had fun, but PV walks away embarrassed, banged up, disheveled, and at a loss for words or how to handle whatever Boxman might do next.
