I need to pick an information community for one of my grad classes. Like, a community that seeks out information and how they do it and what kind of information, things like that. I’ll have to have peer-reviewed articles about it and I have to write a research paper on it at the end of the semester.

And my first thought was ‘well hell, if you want a community constantly looking for information, that’d be fandom in a nutshell.’

BUT I don’t know if I want to bring up fandom life lol. Or even if there’d be peer reviewed articles I could use about it.

But fandom’s ALWAYS looking for information and making connections between people. Are you looking for this pairing? Go here. We have resources we use - AO3 and the like, tumblr, wiki sites - and direct each other towards. People we direct you towards depending on what you’re looking for - fic, or art, or a pairing, or a specific character. Like, fandom is a HUGE information community and an obvious one to me buuuut....

Of course, one of her examples was Marvel Superheroes and comic collectors as scholarly material and sourcing literacy....

But still.

So anyone have an ideas? I just can’t think of anything at the moment. :( (Probably because my brain is like “Juliann there is FANDOM.” and I’m like “Brain, I’m not sure that I can find any ‘scholarly materials’ or ‘sourcing literacy’ for fandom that would work.)

 For my sociology class we watched “The High Cost of Low Price” a documentary on the many ways Walmart has abused it's employee's and created a monopoly dishonestly. We are supposed to apply the concept of Functionalism (Functionalism is a theoretical perspective in which the society is viewed as composed of parts. Each part having a function that when fulfilled contributes to the balance of society.) to the video and write a bit of how because of their business practices their is a imbalance in society.

I'm really lost as how to even start writing this, anything is better then where I'm at right now. Please help.
