i think they're neat (i'm biased)
Imagine being a biologist in the Doctor Who universe. Ancient lizard people emerge from underground saying they're called Homo reptilia. Ancient water lizard people emerge from the sea saying they're called Homo aqua.
No, you can't. You can't just join a genus. That's not how this works.
But we're humanoid
Doesn't matter. Sure that's a fascinating convergent evolution, a body plan arising millennia before we thought. Definitely grounds for research. But you AREN'T part of the Homo genus. Did you evolve from a primate ancestor? No, didn't think so. Go pick a new name.

Honestly I remember when "Legend of The Sea Devils" was released
And people online were bitching about the fact The Doctor let a character sacrifice himself to save the day, claiming "The Doctor would never let that happen!"
And I remember thinking to myself "Yes they absolutely fucking would do that if the situation called for it!"
12 literally got a woman killed during The FIsher King story to test a theory he had.
The 11th Doctor let Father Octavius get his fucking neck snapped by a Weeping Angel because there was nothing he could do.
10 allowed a man to get ripped apart by a Werewolf so he could buy 10 and Rose time to set up a trap in his third fucking episode.
The Doctor absolutely will let someone sacrifice themselves or die if it means saving the day.
Just because they suddenly become female isn't going to change that aspect of them.
Honestly, while I do have my complaints of Chibnall's run, 13 isn't one of them.
Because she's still The Doctor and she still acts like The Doctor.
Very few of the incarnations would know how to react to Graham opening up to them about his fears of his cancer returning because it's such a mundane if horrific and relatable fear.
And The Doctor really struggles with mundane stuff.
Like, they were practically climbing the walls of the Pond Residence during The Power of Three due to staying in one place and living a normal life for a year or so.
