“Because I love you!”
Tara hadn’t seen what the big deal was-- after they took care of business here at the church, she would head off to Washington D.C. She had given Abraham her word, and while Tara had been known to make mistakes, she always stuck to her word- always. She’s nearly inches away from Erin, red in the face-- she can’t understand why Erin can’t accept that she’s leaving, that it’s for the greater good. And it wasn’t like she wasn’t coming back.
“It’s… Erin, I’ve got to go.” No one else here seemed to believe Eugene had a cure, that they could end this-- didn’t anyone here see how important this was? “We could find a cure! Why shouldn’t I go?” Her eyes are wide and she’s gripping Erin at the Elbows trying to find out why it’s such a big deal-- and then:
‘Because I love you!’
Tara leaned back for a moment, her lips parted in surprise-- the late nights, the laughter, the snowball fight-- Carl whispering how cute they would be together-- Tara’s eyes faltered down to the ground as Erin’s words pounded in her head. “Oh--” She cleared her throat. “Oh, well--” She stumbled over her words slightly. “--well, that makes more sense…” Her eyes traveled back up to look at the other woman she had grown to care so much for and offered a dazed smile. “Then come with me.” Tara said and before Erin could retort, she leaned forward to capture her lips with her own in a sweet, slow kiss.
Once pulled away for air, Tara’s eyes sparked. “I love you, too. But, this is important. Come with me.”
