Sup people, this time I made a fanart of Sonic CD, with the same art style that we saw in the cutscenes
Oh, to be in the Jet Set Radio universe and graffiti police officers because they're harshing the vibe, wearing Japanese street style clothes with hip hop elements, bonding with your pals with some sick jams and dance, destroy some corporations

Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Review
Gotta Go Fast: Sonic The Hedgehog Movie Review
Sonic The Hedgehog was a film with a concept too crazy to execute, and ironically it actually works. The concept is a perfect family film, but also one that harbors elements of realistic proportions with a hint of buddy cop flair integrated into the narrative.
The next thing one should ask is what do you know about Sonic. Many would say “oh the video game character from Sega or the blue hedgehog”. The reason the response would be so bland in reflection is due to the exposure of the character for the past 29 years.
The Hedgehog has appeared in countless video games, animes, and plenty of cartoons. One thing the face of Sega hasn’t done is appear on the silver screen. Unlike his counterpart at Nintendo in the form of the Italian plumber Mario with his film debut in 1993.
However when you bring up the term video game and movie that usually causes mass hysteria; Due to the awful track record, and the laundry list of once foundational building blocks of childhood from titles such as Mario, Pokemon, to coin, and name a few.
Once revered as beacons of greatness on the stigma of consoles and in the hearts of gamers alike. Now sadly torn to shred through corporate interference with creative decisions, and such awful concepts being poorly executed through the vision of the directors.
For example, The Goombas in the Mario movie, or the layout of Detective Pikachu, or the even first official design of Sonic. However, those days are surely behind us. The feedback is now stronger than ever with a dominant presence controlling the perception of the film, and the industry as a whole.
In addition to the agony of video game flicks, Hope was on the horizon in the form of the blue hedgehog with golden rings.
In the early months of 2020, the silver screen debut Sonic would finally be revealed on Valentine's day in all suspicion. The timing of the film was an odd one, but the studio went along with the choice for the film to drop.
I remember seeing the trailers and falling in denial with the choice of direction, but then a piece of nostalgia would rise to the top of my heart, and spit out “OMG Sonic in movie form I need to see that”. The message im trying to convey is what audience was this film made for?
On one hand, it feels like it was centered, and targeted for kids, and families, but also some would refute and say it was meant for fans of the icon, and those who grew up in the generation of the hedgehog's inception.
My answer would soon be solved; due to actually buying a ticket, and watching the love letter to my childhood. Let me be clear I had a variety, and range of emotions while witnessing this film.
I laughed, sighed, but also felt like a piece of my life was manifesting right next to me from the iconic soundtrack, or the callbacks to the library of games, and the elusive easter eggs found on the screen. Sonic was a lot of fun, and it was what I needed in my life at the time.
In addition to the widespread emotions present at the time of witnessing this sleeper hit. A few things I would take away from the experience would be the cast and the direction of the flim.
Ben Schwartz does a fantastic job of playing Sonic. He has the mannerisms down, and the tone of the voice is perfect. I feel Schwartz could take on the mantle of the character in the games instead of the out of place sounding Roger Craig Smith.
Tbh if I had to name my favorite portrayal of Sonic would be Ryan Drummond from the days of the Sega Dreamcast with the Sonic Adventure games.
In addition to the cast one thing many should remember is the hero is only good as the villain, and this film Jim Carrey is Dr. Robotnik or Eggman.
Carrey is on the wavelength of channeling his vintage routine from the late 90′s, and it works in this film. He is the perfect amount of one-liners, and zany attitude or the threatening yet subtle nature of the iconic antagonist.
Another thing to praise about this film is the connection between Sonic and the audience. Without diving into spoilers Sonic doses out a huge supply of empathy. Also, the CGI in this film is awesome, and the slow-mo sections do feel copy and paste from Fox X-Men with the acclaimed Quicksilver moments of cinema.
In closing, Sonic The Hedgehog is a miracle. Not only because the film is a representational blueprint of feedback being witnessed before our very eyes. Or it could be the concept of a video game adapted to the screen with finesse, and hints of nostalgia.
Sonic is a perfect family film, but the deeper you dive it is a love letter to all things crucial, and vital to the lineage of the character, and the passion of the fans around the world. The movie was an allegory of the icon being propelled into the spotlight with the recognition Sonic truly and rightfully deserves after exposure of 29 long years.
Hence why Sonic always says “Gotta Go Fast” because the legacy of the franchise will run to the hearts of gamers, and everyone alike.
