"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." – Confucius
"You are not required to keep investing in people who are only interested in investing in themselves."
Read that again.
Once you accept that some people can't stay in your life because they will only hold you back, you will then slingshot yourself into new spaces that you didn't even know were possible for yourself.
Some people have to fall away. This is not to say that you just surf in and out of people's lives just for fun, but if and when a relationship reaches its limits, don't be afraid of letting it go.
Trying to keep them in your life will only lead to more and more friction that you don't need to deal with. Eventually, they will attempt to label you as the problem when the only issue is the fact that the connection can't go any further because of the differences in ideals that each person has.
With discipline, you are able to maintain a higher tolerance for frustration, obstacles and negative emotions. Self-discipline allows you to obtain better health, better finances and a good work ethic, and it allows you to reach your most difficult goals more efficiently. The more disciplined you become, the more easier life gets, or the higher the degree of discipline, the greater your success.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
"Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that's real power." - Clint Eastwood
