I urge any selfshipper who has a PC to get Vroid and Blender, maybe also Krita. They're all free.
Vroid, you can make custom 3D anime models, although mostly human types. But you can also make chibi versions of your S/I and F/O! And if you're later unhappy with some little things, you can just easily go back and make some tweaks.
Blender, you can create scenes and pose you and your F/O together. It might be kind tricky to figure out. If you don't want to make a whole big scene, you can just draw backgrounds and then add the images as planes. If you also wanna get just a little more advanced with it, you can also animate them.
There's also a free plugin for Blender you can get called CATS, which makes it easier to import Vroid models and gives better shaders.
And with Krita (or any free painting program, Krita is just my personal preference), when you export the maps of objects from Vroid, you can put them in Krita and draw on them, delete the map from that image when you're done, save it and put it in Krita.
Here's some examples of art I've done of Selfship or just my F/O, Vincent Solaire
(The objects in the background, and the glow, are 2d art though)
The only things through all these images that aren't by me are his tattoos, the chip bag designs, the refrigerated drinks, the Slurpee cups, and the meme background. Otherwise, it's all by lil ol me.
It might take a bit of learning. But, hey, in the end it'll be fun because you can pose yourself and your F/O in different ways without completely having to redraw them, if you're not in that mood! As someone who sometimes has a had time learning something, it sorta becomes second nature at some point. You learn all the shortcut keys by instinct. Know that ctrl+z is your friend in all 3 of these. Basically the Undo button.
