- Open primarily to canon characters; though gem ocs who I’ve interacted with before are welcome too. Set in the wake of I Am My Mom.
She couldn’t just go back to normal now that Steven was no longer around.
Truth be told, Connie was training even harder than ever. Or course, one might argue it was useless now; she’d learned to fight in order to protect Steven and the Earth, to be his knight. With Steven gone, and Homeworld’s attention taken with him, and no way for her to follow, she was sure some might say it was time to throw down the sword and return to normalcy.
After all, either Steven would succeed in... whatever he was exactly trying and come back to them eventually, or he’d be executed for his mother’s crimes with nothing anyone else could do about it.
The latter thought made Connie feel nauseous, and she quickly pushed it back down--
Either way, Homeworld would have no further business on Earth. Her part in the magical destiny of Steven Universe was over, as she had known it inevitably would be one day.
Still, training kept her occupied, and her thoughts off whatever was happening to Steven now - at least, for the most part. And besides, stopping that now would feel too much like admitting defeat.
She would NOT do that. As long as there was even the tiniest hope of a chance of going after Steven, Connie would train for all she was worth. This time, if and when it came, she wouldn’t be left out; she would go into space with the gems and get her best friend back, even if she had to defy everyone else to do so.
If all else failed, she knew Lapis could fly through space. Maybe if she could rent a space suit from somewhere, and convince the ocean gem to carry her...
She swung Rose’s sword viciously, neatly beheading a pair of Holo-Pearls, and kept moving, charging for the next one. So caught up was the dark girl, in her training and in her thoughts, that she didn’t even notice anyone else had approached her; and if they spoke up, she would be incredibly surprised to realise that she had an audience.
