Could you do a "are these animals cute" poll series on domestic birds?
@fishwolfcrow Absolutely, that's a great idea! I have a list of pets I was going to do this for, such as rabbits and rodents, and somehow didn't even thing of birds...so I'm glad you said that 😅
I have just checked my queue, and it's currently fully scheduled up until approx 10pm on 1st June, so here's the plan: I will write the domestic bird species poll series over the next couple of days and then start adding them to the queue, meaning that you'll start seeing them go live on 2nd July. I know it's a bit of a wait, I hope you don't mind!

Word Count: 2.4K
Warnings: Mentions of past murder sprees (its Klaus, when isn’t there?), and kidnapping
Author’s Note: I haven’t fully decided on how long this one is going to be. I loved the ideas that had been forming in my head and a one shot just didn’t seem like it would do this request justice. Happy reading
For just once, things had seemed to be calm. There was no current threat that needed to be taken care of. There were no plans to to make a move against people that have wronged them in the past. It was quiet and Y/N was enjoying that for the moment. There was no telling when things would change.
Y/N had been laying down on the bed with her head hanging off the side of it. She held a thick book in her hand, getting lost in it. The way she had been laying at that moment had been something she done throughout most of her childhood while she read. It was just a moment of comfort before having to reposition herself to keep her from becoming lightheaded.
Her Y/E/C eyes scanned the words in the book, taking in every detail of the story being told. Like most, she got lost within the pages that she barely registered the sound of steps approaching the room or even stopping at the door.
“Your reading habits never cease to amaze me.” Klaus said as he leaned against the door frame as he watched Y/N.
“Old habits die hard.” She said, her eyes never moving away from the book in her hand. “At least now I don't have to worry about the dizziness of staying in this position for too long.” She said finally looking up from the book and towards him.
She could see the smirk pull at his lips as he watched her. Even at that moment Y/N still couldn't believe her life had turned out as it did. At one point she had actually despised the man before her. She had hated him for dragging her into his schemes just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Y/N had been a part of the group of wolves that Klaus had turned into hybrids. At first Y/N had hated every part about being sired to Klaus just as the others had. She wasn't sure what was worse, being a newly triggered werewolf or the fact she was a hybrid now. Like the others that were in the group, she had went through the excruciating process of breaking her bones just to rid herself of the sire bond. Y/N helped Tyler and Hayley convince the others to the same after the liberating feeling she felt. However things had seemed to change after that.
Y/N had immersed herself in Klaus's inner circle of hybrids, gaining more of his trust as a part of the plan to give details to Tyler and Hayley. But the more time Y/N and Klaus spent together, the more something changed. The flirting comments, the playful banter and the ever growing sexual tension between the two had made Y/N think about what she was doing. In the end, it was Y/N that told Klaus what the hybrids had been up to the last several weeks.
Klaus’ anger in that moment had made Y/N believe he was going to kill her. It was the way he shook his head slowly as his eyes changed as he took several steps towards her. It was in the way his hand wrapped tightly around her neck as he lifted her off the floor. In that moment she had believed she deserved to be killed for what she had helped to do. But Klaus had tightened his hold on her neck before dropping her to the floor and rushing out of the house.
The next time she saw Klaus, he had been covered in blood that had belonged to they hybrids that betrayed him. With every step he had taken towards Y/N, she found herself taking a step back until she her back ended up against a wall with Klaus boxing her in. Seconds had felt like hours under his gaze before their lips had crashed together.
“You're staring, love.” Klaus's voice rang through the room breaking her thoughts.
“I can't stare at my husband?” She asked with a smirk growing on her lips.
Klaus walked over to her and pulled her up from her awkward position. The book fell to the floor as he did. A giggle passed Y/N's lips as he did. “I don't think I could ever get used to hearing you call me that.”
It had only been a few months since Y/N and Klaus had officially tied the knot. Even if it had been years since that night, they had been inseparable ever since. It had taken a lot of fights, nights of insecurities, and several threats for Klaus to realize that Y/N wasn’t going to accept him pushing her away or that she wasn’t going to run scared because of things that his family had to deal with.
“You’ll have to get used to it.” Y/N said as she wrapped her arms around his neck. “It’s what I’ll be calling you for the rest of our immortal lives.” A smirk pulled at his lips as he held her close, leaning down to kiss her.
“Ugh, if you two are even remotely thinking about doing anything sexual, I have to stop you there.” Rebekah’s voice filled the room as she walked in.
Rebekah had become close friends with Y/N soon after Klaus and Y/N had gotten together. While at first, Rebekah had believed that she had been one of Klaus’ play things, she grew to love Y/N like a sister. They had become the best of friends and had been Y/N’s maid of honor at the wedding.
“Then leave the room, sister.” Klaus said as he rolled his eyes.
“Not without Y/N.” She said crossing her arms over her chest. “We’ve got endless amounts of shopping to do before she leaves us tonight for a week.”
Y/N’s eyes widened at Rebekah’s words. She hadn’t exactly told Klaus that she was leaving to visit family yet. She would have told him last night like she planned to, but certain activities had kept her from doing so.
“Leave?” Klaus looked down at her with a shocked look. “And where is it that you think you are going?”
Y/N gave him a small smile. “To my sister’s house.” She said with a small nod. “She triggered the curse and it will be the first time she’s turning. I figured I’d go and help her through it.”
“When exactly did you plan on letting me in on your travel plans?” He asked as he took a step back and crossed his arms over his chest.
Y/N rolled her eyes and shook her head slightly. “Last night after I got her call asking me to go. Bex just was with me when she did. And when I came to tell you it completely spaced from my mind because of certain things that were said and done the moment I walked into the room.”
A chuckle passed Klaus’ lips as he watched as Y/N began turning red. Even if they had been together for quite some time, she could still seem so shy and innocent at times. It made Klaus love her even more for how easily she could hold on to her humanity.
“Don’t remind me.” Rebekah said rolling her eyes as she looked at the two of them. “We really need to convince Freya to put up a sound proof spell on each of our rooms.” That had caused Y/N and Klaus to laugh, even as Y/N kept turning a few red shades darker.
“Go on.” He said before kissing her on the cheek. He wasn’t going to argue about her leaving. He knew how much her family had meant to her, just like she knew how much it had meant to him. There was also the fact that even though he would usually join her on her trips, there were still plenty of matters to attend to there in New Orleans.
“Dinner tonight?” She asked with a smile. “Usual place?”
“I wouldn’t miss it.” He said giving her a smirk.
“Enough already, it’s not like you won’t ever see him again.” Rebekah said grabbing a hold of Y/N’s hand and pulling her out from the room.
____
Hours later, the shopping done, dinner had and now Y/N’s car had been packed and ready to leave.
“Don’t piss anyone off while I’m gone.” Y/N said as she wrapped her arms around Klaus’ neck.
“Now where is the fun in that.” Klaus said as he pulled her close to him, not ready to let her go just yet.
“I swear if I get another call from Rebekah or Elijah saying you’ve pissed someone off, you’ll have one upset wife to deal with.” While she knew Klaus had a tendency to handle situations in the wrong way, Y/N had been able to get him to handle things better. The last time she had left Klaus for a more than a week, Y/N had came back to him being in a new war with the witches.
Klaus rolled his eyes playfully. “Yes, I know. I’ll end up locked away to learn my lesson.”
It was a threat that Y/N had gave him before she left the last time. When Y/N came back, she kept her promise and had Freya lock Klaus in his room for a week. While Y/N could come and go as she pleased, Klaus was left stuck in there until his wife deemed him being in there long enough.
Y/N chuckled and leaned up to kiss him softly. “I’ll call you when I get to Melissa’s.” She promised.
“And every chance you get in between here and there.” Klaus may have been cold to others, killed without any real reason, but when it came to Y/N he was different. She made him feel human, and extremely protective over her. While he knew that she could take care of herself now that she was a hybrid, it didn’t stop him from worrying about her from time to time.
“Of course.” She promised as she kissed him once more. “I should go since I told her I’d be there in the morning.”
“We both know how she can get when someone is late.” Klaus said with a nod as he pulled her arms away from him as he took a step back. “Let her know that if she’s anything like her sister, she’ll be just fine.”
Y/N gave him a smile as she turned and opened the car door. “Look at the big, bad, hybrid caring for someone other than his family.”
“Melissa is considered family because of you, dear wife.” He said as he watched her get into the driver’s seat. He closed the door and then leaned on it as he watched her start the car up.
She looked over and smiled at him. “I love you, Klaus.”
“And I you, Y/N.” He said leaning into the car and kissing her one last time. “Now go.” He said before he moved out of the car and back inside.
It wasn’t long before Y/N stopped for gas. She was about half way to her sister’s house and making great timing like she knew she would. As she got out of the car, there was something that felt off in that moment.
Her eyes scanned the area looking for anyone or anything that would give reason to why she felt off in that moment. While her eyes, or her ears for that matter, didn’t pick anything up, she moved to get back into the car. She figured she had enough gas to go a little further. She just wanted to get away from whatever currently made her like she was in danger.
As her hand reached the handle to open the car door, she felt a sharp pain in her neck and in several places along her back. Her hand moved up as she pulled the vervain dart out and took a look at it. Her eyes widened as she felt the contents of the dart spread through her system. Before she could even try to do anything, her vision blurred before darkness consumed her.
_____
The incessant buzzing of Klaus’ phone on the night stand had caused Klaus to wake with an annoyed growl leaving his lips. His hand reached out and grabbed the phone quickly, answering. “This better be important.” He said into the phone.
Klaus?
“Melissa.” He said as he sat up. “Is everything alright?”
That’s what I was wondering. Did Y/N leave last night? Klaus could hear the concern in her voice.
“She did.” Klaus said as he pulled the phone away to look at the time. “She should have been there two hours ago.”
I know. She’s not here yet and when I tried calling her it goes straight to voicemail. I thought maybe she changed her mind and was avoiding me.
“We both know she wouldn’t do that to you in your time of need.” Klaus said trying to reassure his sister in law. “Something’s not right.”
“Niklaus!” Elijah’s voice called from down stairs. The urgency in his brother’s voice had told him there was something in fact wrong.
Still on the phone with Melissa, he rushed downstairs. Elijah had been holding a small red box in his hand. “If your sister arrives or even calls you, let me know.” He said into the phone. “I’ll see if I can get a hold of her.” Hearing Melissa’s confirmation, he hung up the phone.
“This was just dropped off for you.” Elijah said. There was concern written on his face as he handed Klaus the red box. The lid had already been taken off, indicating that Elijah had already seen what was inside of it.
“Along with this.” Rebekah said holding up a small card with a with a very old family crest that they had believed they had seen the last of.
Looking inside the box, Klaus’ heart dropped. Sitting in the center of it had been Y/N’s wedding ring. Parts of the ring had splatters of blood on it. The sight of it had made Klaus angry and worried for what happened to his wife. Y/N had been taken and he knew exactly who had done it.

Loki Laufeyson x Reader - Series Request - Cat’s Eyes - Part 1
So this was a request from the wonderfully lovely @leleleish:
Could it be between loki and the reader? If so could you have the reader to be Peppers nieces and have her slowly come into contact with the avengers. Or something like that. Idk use your amazing talent and imagination! Could you have a reader to be normalish and um maybe add a power to her later like bending an element or something. Or what ever you think would be best. Can the reader be shy when she meets someone but when they become comfortable with each other she never shuts up. Also kind and smart. Also could you make the relationship of loki and the reader not rushed?
So I hope that I at least did something remotely close to what you wanted! I honestly don’t really know where I am going with this, but it seemed like a start so I am open to any suggestions!
P.S - Sorry, I’ve just been told off for this - there isn’t actually any Loki in this first chapter, so Loki x reader is a bit misleading - I’ll try to make sure Loki is in the next part! Sorry! x
Let me know if you want to be tagged in anything!
REQUESTS ARE ALWAYS OPEN!

CAT’S EYES MASTERLIST
You stared out over the city that was spread out beneath you from this height, the view stretching far into the distance. It was beautiful, and you almost envied the birds that held this sort of a view no matter where they went.
Your felt your ears prick up at the sound of voices behind you, but you barely reacted, all your attention focusing on the people that moved like ants on the street below.
“Look, Cap, I’m not sure what the problem is here…” Tony confessed, clearly exasperated as he strode across the floor of the communal living room.
“The problem, Stark, is t –“ Steve Rogers stopped, frowning in confusion, when a movement over Stark’s shoulder caught his eye. “Is that a cat?”
Tony frowned at his colleague in bewilderment, then turned, following his eyeline to the balcony. “Yes, Cap, I believe it is…” Tony murmured in disbelief.
Both men stood there, bewildered, watching the dark coloured cat that sat on the railing of the balcony, its tailing twitching back and forth behind it.
“How on Earth did it get up this high?”
“Beat’s me, Cap, pests aren’t usually a problem at this height.” Stark muttered and he now slowly moved towards the glass balcony doors, Rogers following after him, both wary not to make any sudden moves that might spook the creature.
The cat still didn’t seem to notice them and they each took a side behind it, glancing at each other and then nodding in signal. There was a pause as they both readied themselves, then Rogers snatched a hand out, grabbing the scruff of the cat. It let out a sharp meow of protest and lashed a paw out, but Steve dodged it easily, keeping the feline at arm’s length. He evaded another wide-reaching paw - stretching the cat even further away from his body - and then exchanged a glance with Tony, suddenly realising they now had a cat, but weren’t entirely sure what to do with it.
“Throwing it over the edge isn’t an option, is it?” Stark asked with a grimace.
“Not much of a cat person, are you?” Steve joked, dodging another swipe.
“Can you blame me?” Tony asked, flinching out of the way as another attack on Steve narrowly missed him instead.
“Get me – ah,” Steve cried, only just moving out of the way in time to avoid another claw, “get me a towel or something.” He suggested, the cat swing slightly in his grip, it’s body curled up into a protective ball, teeth bared as it hissed its disapproval at being man handled.
“Right.” Tony agreed, hurrying back inside, Steve following after him with the cat still a full arm’s length away.
“What in Odin’s name is that?” Thor asked, striding into the room as Tony hurried back to Steve with hand towel from the kitchen.
“What, you don’t have cats on Asgard?” Tony asked, jokingly as him and Steve now wrestled the protesting feline into the towel, trying to avoid the sharp claws whilst also making sure they were safely tucked away.
“’Cats’?” Thor repeated, then paused a moment to think about this, “No.” He mused, then tilted his head. “Is this a normal thing to do to a cat?” He asked, watching the odd dance Tony and Steve were doing as they fought against the small creature and dodged its reciprocating attacks.
“If it’s trying to scratch you – yeah.” Tony panted, quickly pulling his arm away as a paw came towards him. “Try and hold it against your body or something.” He suggested to Steve.
“Oh, yeah, Stark, I’ll get right on that.” Steve muttered, if anything holding the cat further away as it now let out a loud howl and swung again.
“Ah, so this is for restraint?” Thor questioned, seemingly amused by the whole situation. “A piece of cloth?” Scoffed Thor. “Can’t be a very fearsome beast.”
“You wanna try?” Growled Tony, out of breath, but unable to shoot Thor a glare, fearing that if he took his eyes off the feline he’d miss a flying paw.
At this point, Rogers threw caution to the wind and pressed the cat and the towel firmly down on the closest surface – the end of the dining room table – and then, one hand pinning the creature down - and with the help of Tony - quickly swaddled the creature with the towel. The cat squirmed in its new burrito-like position – all feet within the wrap of the towel, only its head poking out - but Steve just pressed down more firmly onto its back until it gave up, now just settling with crouching there and yowling in protest.
Steve and Tony exchanged relieved glances, both a bit out of breath, whilst Thor watched on, thoroughly amused by their struggles. “Are these creatures a common pest problem?” He asked.
“Not at this height.” Tony muttered, straightening up. “Lord knows how it got up here…” He said glancing back towards the glass balcony doors.
“What’ll you do with it now, is there a control system for these creatures?” This seemed to stump Tony, who opened his mouth, but seemed to have no answer.
“Does it have a tag?” Rogers asked, ignoring half of Thor’s question.
Tony glanced at Steve, also opting not to try to explain things to the God, and turned back around going as though to check. He reached towards the cat’s neck, then quickly withdrew his hands when the cat turned its golden eyes on him, hissing angrily. “Not actually sure I wanna check, Cap.” Tony admitted, and Steve rolled his eyes as Stark now stepped back, putting distance between him and the creature. The cat’s ears, which had been flatten against its head, now pricked back up and Tony suddenly recognised the white markings on each tip. “Hang on, Cap - does that cat have a white stripe running down it’s back?”
Steve frowned at him, but checked, easing off the pressure slightly on the cat and checking under the towel. His brow knitted. “Yes.” He answered “– Why?”
Tony scowled. “Damn it, [Y/N]. This is her cat.” He said, gesturing at it.
“Who’s [Y/N]?” Thor asked.
“Pepper’s niece.” Tony explained. “She’s just moved here.”
“She’s living in the tower?” Rogers frowned.
“No. she’s staying at Pepper’s until she can afford her own place.”
“Then why is her cat here?”
Tony stared down at the cat, shrugging. “Beats me, Cap, I’ve no clue how it even got in the building.”
“Well can you call her or something, Stark? I don’t particularly want to stand here like this all day.” Rogers muttered, shifting his grip on the cat impatiently.
Tony shot Steve a look that said he didn’t appreciate the attitude. “JARVIS?” Tony, called to the room, his eyes still on Steve.
“Yes, sir?”
“Get a hold of [Y/N], I believe we have something of hers.” Tony said, breaking eye contact with Rogers and glancing around the room.
“Of course, sir.”
“And what am I supposed to do now?” Steve asked, annoyed to see Tony was already heading for the door.
Tony paused. “Uh – stand there and look pretty – as usual.” He shrugged, then continued towards the elevator, “JARVIS’ll let you know when she’s on her way.” He called back with a causal flick of his hand, stepping into the lift. He gave a farewell, sucks-to-be-you smile then the doors closed on him and he disappeared.
Steve let out a short, frustrated sigh, knowing there was nothing he could do now - he was stuck there with the cat until this [Y/N] showed up. Thor had now been to the kitchen and returned, finishing off a bite of something, he regard the cat with curiosity again, circling around it, but keeping his distance as the Midgardians seemed wary of it.
“You really don’t have cats?” Steve couldn’t help asking, watching Thor’s odd behaviour.
“I believe we have something similar,” Thor muttered, “but they are much larger, blood thirstier beasts.” He explained, studying the restrained creature, only its head visible.
“Right…” Steve nodded, “Well I’m not sure they would be blood thirstier…” He muttered, glancing warily down at the cat that had now resigned itself to its fate and was falling asleep where it crouched.
Thor straightened his head and raised an eyebrow at Rogers, clearly not buying the danger of the half-sleeping beast. “Aww, come on - it looks almost quite cute.” He said, stepping closer and gesturing at it with a hand. “Ah!” He suddenly cried, retracting his hand and nursing it close to his chest, “The bastard bit me!” He growled. Steve bit his lip, trying not to laugh, though he couldn’t hide his smirk and Thor rounded on him “You let it bite me!” He accused.
Steve shifted his grip on the cat so he could hold it with one hand, lifting his free one up in surrender to Thor. “I’m only holding its body,” He explained in defence, “I have no control of its head,” He said, gesturing down to show how he was holding the cat and towel. “You shouldn’t have tried to touch it.”
Thor scowled at Rogers. “I didn’t!” He sulked, “It lunged at me!”
Steve sighed, knowing there was no point in arguing with Thor. “Go and see Banner before it gets infected.” Steve muttered nodding at the door. “I’ll hold down the fort.” Thor hesitated, but did as he was told, still muttering to himself as he left.
It wasn’t too much longer did JARVIS’s voice rang through the room. “Miss [L/N] has arrived, Captain.” He announced. “Shall I send her up?”
“Please, JARVIS.” Rogers answered, trying not to sound too desperate. The cat was still asleep, but Steve didn’t trust how much longer that would last and whether the creature was simply biding its time – saving its energy to try to make an escape when Steve finally dropped his guard.
The elevator pinged as you arrived on the floor JARVIS had instructed you to, and you stepped out, glancing nervously around before you caught sight of the man on the opposite end of the room, his back to you. You had hoped that it would have been Tony who had your cat – after all, JARVIS had been the one to get in contact with you – as you would have much preferred a familiar face to have to apologise profusely to rather than a complete stranger, but the blonde haired man before you was definitely not Tony Stark. Your eyes moved down his muscular back, now noticing he was leant over something and, as you looked, you recognised your cat’s dark head sticking out of some sort of towel. “Kali?” You called in disbelief, quickly walking over. The man glanced over his shoulder at your call and the cat’s eyes shot to yours at her name. “Oh my god, sir, I am so, so sorry!” You apologised whole-heartedly. “My aunt just told me! I’m really sorry!”
“It’s fine.” Rogers smirked kindly at you, chuckling lightly at your frantic apologies.
It suddenly clicked in your, nervously slow, mind why your cat was wrapped up. “Oh – uh – she wasn’t being a lot of trouble… - was she?” You winced, already knowing the answer.
“Well, she basically managed to single handedly take down about half of the avengers, so I’d say she’s quite a force of nature.” Steve joked, glancing down at the cat who was still staring up at you as though waiting for something.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” You said, now glancing between the man and your cat, “really I –“ You stopped, something in your head suddenly clicking the familiar face into place, “Hang on! Are you – no – your Steve Rogers, aren’t you?!” You asked in amazement. Steve bowed his head with an embarrassed, bashful smile. “Oh my god, I’m so sorry, but also, wow – hi - nice to meet you!” You blushed tripping over words in your excitement and nerves.
Steve laughed at you. “It’s – a – uh - pleasure to meet you too.” He said, freeing up a hand again to hold it out to you. You faltered for a moment in disbelief then numbly shook Captain America’s hand, your heart pounding erratically. When the two of you released, you dropped your head, staring down at Kali as you now absentmindedly stroked the top of her head. There was an awkward pause between the two of you and you found yourself unable to look the man in the eyes now.
“Uh – you can - uh – you can let her go – uh – if you want.” You muttered, gesturing at where his hand still held the cat. “She shouldn’t go anywhere – she’s - uh - she’s usually attached to my hip.” You explained, “But I – uh – I guess she wanted to see New York.” You joked weakly.
“You’re sure?” Rogers asked, uncertainly, and you realised how tense he was about setting Kali free - it almost made you want to laugh. You nodded though, and Steve carefully eased his grip, releasing the towel. You could see how wary he was of getting too close, alert for any sudden paw that might swiped out at him, so you brushed him aside and took over, removing the towel off Kali’s back and then stroking a hand from her head to her tail. She purred under your touch and pressed herself up into your hand. When you removed your touch, Kali stood up fully, stretching her front legs out and sitting back on her haunches, flexing her claws. You smirked at the look on Steve’s face when he saw this.
Kali’s eyes then glanced around, completely ignoring Steve and finding you instead. She let out a meow and then lithely jumped up onto your shoulder, her claws momentarily digging into your skin for purchase, but you didn’t flinch. She stepped over your shoulders and then curled herself in her usual position around your neck, before settling back down to snooze again.
“Lazy thing.” You muttered and one of Kali’s ears twitched to show you she was listening.
Now Steve finally deemed any threat from the cat to have been neutralised, he visibly seemed to relax, and you glanced over at him with a smirk.
Captain America, frightened by a - relatively – harmless cat.
“So, you’re Pepper’s niece, right?” He asked you now.
“Uh - yeah.” You smiled back slightly surprised, “Tony been talking about me?”
“He may have cursed your names a few times when the cat took a swipe at him.” Steve smirked, and you laughed, feeling far more at ease now you had Kali back in her usual place. “I got to ask though,” Steve said, crossing his arms and leaning back against the dining table. “Tony as an uncle…. - What’s that like?”
You chuckled again. “Uh – ha – to be honest, I don’t really know.” You confessed, “I haven’t been around much…” You told him, glancing up at Kali and scratching her behind the ear, her purr loud in your ear and the vibrations resounding through your shoulders. “I’ve been abroad - studying, travelling – but I decided it was time I – uh - settled down and – uh - maybe got a decent job.” You explained with a weak smirk, eyes still on Kali. “I used to be really close to Pepper when I was little – before she even worked for Tony – my parents, not so much,” You explained with a face that said if you could shrug, you would, “So when it came to finding someone to help me, Pepper seemed like the most obvious answer and that’s why I’m here.” You glanced away from back at Steve, suddenly realising what you’d just done. “Oh - sorry.” You apologised quickly, feeling your cheeks redden, “You didn’t want to know my life story,” You chuckled weakly, “Ignore me.” You dismissed with a wave.
“No - no,” Rogers muttered, shaking his head at the floor, “it’s fine, I would have asked – if – uh – if you’d let me.” He smirked.
“Sorry.” You mumbled again, your cheeks becoming even hotter.
“Stop apologising.” He smirked.
“I would if I stopped doing things wrong.” You joked with a small laugh. He smirked back at you and the two of you fell into a slightly less awkward silence. “Right,” You said, fiddling with your hands, “uh – well – we’d,” you gestured between you and Kali, “- we’d better be getting home.”
“Right.” Steve nodded, straightening up from where he had been leaning as you now headed for the elevator again.
“Oh,” You paused by the door, turning back to Steve, “You – uh - you say she took down half the avengers?” Steve smirked and nodded. “Then – uh – who - who else do I need to over-apologise to?” You asked with a small smirk.
“Well – uh - Tony’ll have a few choice words for you, I imagine,” Steve smirked back at you, and you felt yourself blush, imagining the scene, “but he didn’t actually get hurt – so don’t let him make you think he did.” Steve warned you, humour in his eyes. You nodded with quiet snicker, already knowing Tony well enough that he might try to pull that. “Thor, however,” Steve continued, “did get himself bitten.”
“Thor?! You mean the ‘God of Thunder’, Thor?” You asked, wide-eyed. Steve nodded. “Shit.” You muttered to yourself.
Rogers chuckled at you. “He -uh – he actually said he’d never seen a cat before,” He told you, “I guess that meant he didn’t know not to get near one when it’s not particular pleased.” Steve smirked, “I told him to get it checked out before it got infected.”
“Good idea.” You murmured, still trying to take in that the kitten wrapped around your neck had somehow done damage to an actual God. “I – uh – I’d better pay him a visit at some point…” You mused to yourself “To – uh – say sorry personally.”
“I hear he likes waffles.” Rogers suggested with a twinkle in his eyes and you laughed.
“Thank you, I’ll bear that in mind.” You sniggered. “Ok, well,” You said, glancing at the lift, “I guess l’ll – uh – see you around.” You said, taking a few steps backwards towards the exit. “Probably on the news when you next – uh – ‘save the world’ and all that.” You smiled, raising a hand in farewell.
“Right. Sure, yeah.” Steve mumbled, copying your action with a smile and then watching as you turned around and headed back into the elevator - the cat still happily curled, asleep, around your shoulders.

A few days passed and TJ managed to help you with keeping your distance from your Aunt Evelyn and her snarky comments and your uncles and their sexist views.
Your act with TJ had become better since the kiss. You decided to enjoy TJ as your boyfriend – even if it was pretend - while you could and had the perfect excuse to hold his hand, brush your fingers against his, smiling at him. TJ followed up and he would smile back, place his hands on your waist and shoulders whenever he could. You hadn’t kissed since the night your grandparents asked you to dance two nights ago.
Until, well, your cousin decided to be annoying. Your cousin was known for… showing her looks a bit too much. Which was clearly displayed by her tiny bikini and her absurd amount of makeup.
She interrupted your conversation with your grandmother and TJ asking for help with something inside the house, claiming she couldn’t reach something in a high shelf. TJ, always the gentleman, offered to help. So inside the house the two of them went.
But it took too long.
“TJ probably lost himself inside the house,” you said to your grandmother, once she asked about them.
She laughed, “I bet your cousin doesn’t know the way either.”
You chuckled, but something still didn’t feel right. Your cousin was usually up to no good and, giving TJ’s looks, you bet your money in what she would try to do.
“I’ll try and find them then.”
Your grandmother leaned back and kept on enjoying the sun while you rose from your chair and walked to the house.
The living room, which had access to the garden from where you came from, showed no sign of them. The same from the bedrooms and kitchen. Where did your cousin say she wanted to reach for something?
Your heard a giggle. From the garage. Of course. If your cousin wanted to fool around, she’d do it in the farthest place from everyone possible.
The door was closed, but you could see TJ and your cousin inside by the little window on the door.
You tried to stay calm, but why were they there? Why was the door closed? What were they doing? You decided to watch to be sure.
Your cousin was practically bouncing, her shoulder square to improve her breasts. You heard muffled sounds but you couldn’t make out the words. TJ seemed to be asking her for something. She shook her head and looked at her breasts, her hands clasped behind her. TJ sighed and didn’t seem happy with the situation. Your cousin could be a pain in the ass if she wanted to. But then TJ reached out and placed his hand on her breasts.
Deciding it was too much, you turned and walked away.
Technically, TJ was free to do whatever he wanted. But it had to be with your cousin during the family reunion in which he was pretending to be your boyfriend? Anger tears pricked your eyes, but you payed them no attention. You walked to your bedroom and sat on the bed.
Not even 10 minutes later, TJ was poking his head through the door.
“Hey.”
You didn’t answer. It was childish and you knew it, but you couldn’t help yourself.
TJ opened the door wider and stepped into the room. “You okay?”
You huffed and rolled your eyes. Okay?
“Beautiful, please, talk to me.” TJ closed the door behind him and kneeled by your side, his hand on your knee. “What happened?”
“Why don’t you go back and play with my cousin’s boobs a little more, TJ? Leave me alone.”
“That’s what you think happened back there?” he asked, rising to his feet. “You won’t even let me explain!”
“Explain what, huh?” you mocked, standing up, “How she didn’t want help and you two were probably kissing?”
“She said she wanted the bowl someone put on the top shelf on the garage,” TJ began, “But when I tried to find it, there was nothing there. I asked about it and she said there was no bowl. She locked the door and put the key between her breasts.”
“Which you didn’t hesitate to get, right?” you knew it wasn’t true. TJ seemed pretty annoyed by the situation, but you had so many emotions running wild that you couldn’t focus.
“That I spent almost 20 minutes trying to reason with her,” TJ sighed, then he remembered why he was angry. “And since when do you care who I kiss or not, [Y/n]?”
“I’ve always cared!”
And it was the truth. You always cared about TJ and who he kissed or didn’t, but only since you realized your feelings for him that you understood why you did it. You used to think it was because he was your best friend and you wanted him to find someone that cared about him as much as you did.
How wrong you were. You cared about him because you loved him.
“You did, didn’t you?” TJ said. “But you were never mad! Why were you today?”
“You were supposed to be my boyfriend in this, remember?” You argue as you flail your arms around. “And then you do God-knows-what with my cousin!”
“Now that I think of it,” TJ paused for a moment, “
“During the last few days, you’ve been acting weird. It didn’t feel like you were pretending to like at all! So why don’t you just tell me why?”
“You know what? It’s because maybe I want to be your girlfriend!”
“Oh yeah? And maybe I want to be your boyfriend!”
“Really?” you shouted. And then froze. With your voice just above a whisper you repeated, “Really?”
TJ stepped closer and held your hands. His eyes focused on yours and you could barely breathe. “Really, [Y/n].” TJ smiled and asked, “Can I kiss you?”
“Why haven’t you yet?”
He chuckled. “So eager.” But he did lean in and kissed you.
It was very different than your first kiss. Now that you two were aware of each other’s feelings, things were clearer. His lips were soft against yours, his hands held the small of your back and the side of your neck, your arms around his neck.
When you pulled away, TJ touched your foreheads together.
He huffed out a laugh, a lazy smile spreading across his face. “What do you say, beautiful? Will you be my girlfriend?”
You hugged him tighter, your own smile on your face. “Yes, TJ I’ll be your girlfriend.”
But before he could kiss you again, he perked up, excited with his eyes wide open and grinning.
“Hey, best part? I’ve already been introduced to your family.”
Perhaps you should thank your cousin, after all.

“Tell us how was your first date, young ones,” your grandfather asked from the chair near the food table. He was a smart man after all. The entire family was reunited – after showers - in the living room that had huge doors which opened to the back of the house, where more chairs and tables were spread.
“Our… what?”
“Your first date,” he said again, calm as ever.
“We went dancing,” TJ smiled, his hand snaking around your waist.
“Dancing?” Aunt Evelyn chuckled. “I didn’t know you danced, [Y/n].”
To be fair, you weren’t half bad in dancing.
“Why don’t you show your Aunt that you can dance then?” your grandfather suggested.
TJ made a move to grab your hand in his, but you took a step back. “I think I’ll pass, guys, sorry.”
“TJ,” your aunt shouted, “Why don’t you show these old man some moves?”
She actually walked up to him, almost touching his shoulder in order to force him to dance, when he got her hand in his own and took a step back.
“I wouldn’t want to ruin such a great couple from dancing,” TJ smiled at Aunt Evelyn and Uncle Sam, leading her to him. Then he walked to you, “But we are dancing,” he announced, offering his hand.
You placed yours on top of his, “You’re gonna regret it,” you snickered, quietly.
“Oh, am I?” TJ smirked, speaking quietly too. His low voice in your ear and his muscular body underneath that dark button up shirt were driving you crazy.
“TJ!” you screeched as he almost made you collapse on the floor by tugging your hand, but his strong arms grabbed your waist and hoisted you close to his chest.
“Now, beautiful, do you really think I’d let you fall?” he twirled you around slowly, knowing your soft socks made your feet slippery. “I think we should do this the right way,” he said as he pulled you toward his body once again.
You arched an eyebrow to him, your hands clasped behind his neck and his on both sides of your waist.
“The right way?”
His hands ran up to your shoulder, leaving goosebumps on its way, until those grabbed your hands. TJ took a step back, dropped your hands and bowed.
“May I have this dance, ma’am?” he asked, a smile on his lips.
You grabbed the hem of your – his – large shirt and bowed as well.
“I’d be glad.”
TJ took' your hand in his, your free one went to his shoulder and his went to your waist. He locked his eyes with your and started leading you to the music.
The song was easy to follow and TJ was a great dancer, so there were no major difficulties in looking presentable. He twirled you around and, by the hand he kept holding, pulled you gently against his chest. The song ended with your chests glued together and TJ’s lips mere inches from yours.
You were wondering how his lips would feel against yours when he leaned down to kiss you.
You melted in his arms, but it was okay, TJ had you firmly secured with his muscular ones around your frame. The kiss was calm, sweet, but not hesitant. TJ had his fair knowledge of things and you were far from a blushing virgin, but his careful touches made something twirl inside you.
Too soon, he pulled away and you had to suppress a groan. He couldn’t know how much you had enjoyed it, never.
Before you actually feel like TJ had backed away because he had tired of you, the claps and the whooping from your family reached your ears.
You blushed and hid your face in TJ’s chest until they calmed down.
And then your younger cousin asked, “Was that your first kiss?”
Before either you or TJ could respond, or stammer a ridiculous sentence due to nervousness, your grandmother intervened.
“Of course not, dear! Didn’t you see the passion in such kiss?”
“Passion?” the little girl asked, confused.
“The love was evident between them, don’t you agree?” your grandmother guided and your cousin smiled.
“That I saw.”
“There’s your answer then.”
You couldn’t bring yourself to look at TJ, though you could feel his eyes on you.
“So,” you started, walking towards your grandmother, “What’s for dinner?”

“Can we talk?”
TJ had just closed the bedroom door behind him and dropped the bomb. Maybe he figured out how you felt about him? Maybe he wanted to go home?
“About?” You tried to act calm as you roamed through your bag, pretending to search for something.
“Beautiful, remember you forgot your pajamas,” he chuckled as he came to stand behind you, his hands holding yours still. He turned you around, but kept your fingers intertwined. His face was so dangerously close to yours and you couldn’t stop from thinking about how his lips had felt soft against yours.
“Right,” you scoffed and blushed, due to his intense eyes on you, but TJ could think it was because you were embarrassed you forgot your pajamas. Or that you forgot that you forgot your pajamas. Truly, you didn’t, but it was better this way.
“So I had to ask you,” TJ said, “Do you mind if we sleep in the same bed? I’ll feel super bad if you sleep on the couch – I tried it while you were in the shower and I guarantee it wasn’t made for sleeping.”
How could you sleep with TJ? At the same time, how you could say ‘no’? Puppy dog eyes weren’t fair and TJ should know that.
“Okay,” you sighed at last. TJ’s smile was everything you needed to confirm it was the right call. Then you remembered, “Do you have another shirt for sleep?”
“Would you like it if the answer was ‘no’?” TJ laughed. “Yep. I brought this one for you, beautiful.”
“Thanks,” you kissed his cheek and turned around. He entered the bathroom to change clothes and you missed how deeply TJ blushed and how lovingly he smiled as he touched his fingers lightly to his cheek, the ghost of your lips lingering on the hot skin.
You didn’t sleep right away. TJ brought cards and you decided poker was the way to go. Both sitting on the bed on pajamas, facing each other, defiant expressions on your faces.
Grinning and narrowing your eyes, you said, “2 dollars.”
He mimicked your expression and it just wasn’t fair how good he looked. “Three.”
You paid. Total of $9.80 dollars on the table. Bed, actually.
Bucky showed you his cards, two aces. With the one on the table, he had three. Not bad.
But you had better.
“Too much for you, doll?” TJ smugly asked.
You flipped one of your cards, a queen which paired with the other two queens on the table.
“Sorry, beautiful, but you know that’s not enough,” TJ grinned and reached out for the money. Your hand caught his mid-air.
“Who said I’m finished?” It was your turn to grin devilishly. For a moment, TJ was so lost in your smile he forgot what was going on around him.
Then you showed him your second and last card: another queen.
His jaw hung open. “Shit.”
You laughed and took the money.
TJ leaned back and rested his back against the board, placing one of the pillows on his lap, a small smile on his lips. “I’m impressed, beautiful.”
You looked at him. “I’m not,” you flipped your hair and made a very smug expression. But you both bursted out laughing before you could finish your act.
TJ opened his mouth to say something, but you shivered before any sound could make its way out of his mouth. TJ immediately sat up.
“You grandmother did warn me that the temperature dropped during the night,” he said as he bolted from the bed.
“It’s okay,” you wrapped your arms around yourself, trying to conserve the heat. You turned to see TJ roaming through the wardrobe. “What are you doing?”
“Your grandmother said there were comforters here and that we should probably need one for the night. Aha!” TJ close the wardrobe with his foot because his hands were carrying the huge thing.
Instead of setting it on the bed as you thought he would, TJ wrapped it around you.
“Thanks.”
“Anytime, beautiful,” he said and kissed your cheek.
You yawned.
“Time for bed?” TJ smiled at you.
“Please,” you yawned once more, TJ chuckled.
You settled for bed and laid on the bed. TJ turned the lights off and slipped into the covers. You laid side by side, the comforter spread over the bed, covering you both.
“Night, TJ,” you murmured, closing your eyes.
“Night, [Y/n],” he answered and squeezed your hand. You squeezed back with a smile on your lips before you fell asleep with his breathing calming you.
It was the middle of the night when you woke up to light movement.
“Hey,” TJ whispered, drawing you closer to his chest and wrapping his arms around your frame, “You were shivering, I’m just trying to help.”
You didn’t know if it was the sleep retarding your movements or if it was the fact that TJ was making you sleep on his chest with his muscular arms around you but you didn’t move away.
“Now, go back to sleep,” he whispered. TJ’s hands were rubbing your back, trying to provide some heat. He leaned down and kissed your forehead, then murmured lowly, “Sweet dreams, beautiful.”

The whole family was happy to meet TJ. They smiled and clapped him on the shoulder and kissed his cheek. By the end of the tour, he had a beer in hands and you had a plate of food enough to feed an army.
You sat down on a chair by the shadows, a table in front of you.
“Aren’t you thirsty?” TJ asked.
“Yeah, but I was lacking a hand to grab a cup.”
TJ kept your hand in his the entire time and that had made you less nervous about the entire event.
“Hang on, I’ll get you something.”
As TJ knew your favorite drink, you simply leaned back and waited.
Your sunglasses in your face, you suddenly heard your Aunt’s voice. Aunt Evelyn.
“Oh do tell me, TJ, how did you ask [Y/n] out? She’s hardly the most outgoing person out there and she certainly didn’t ask you out,” your aunt chuckled.
“Actually,” TJ said, “It was [Y/n] who asked me out. We don’t go out much, it’s true, but I like it that way too. I’m not someone to go out quite often.”
Your Aunt was surprised. “What? [Y/n] actually asked you out? Someone as handsome as you? I find that hard to believe, TJ.”
“It’s the truth,” was all TJ said as he walked towards you, placed your drink on the table and leaned down to kiss your forehead.
You smiled shyly at him. “Thank you for doing this.”
He simply grabbed your hand again and all those emotions you were trying so hard to suppress came back at full range. “Anything for you, beautiful.”
Somehow you knew he wasn’t pretending when he said those words.
You looked down and cleared your throat. “You really don’t have to be polite with her,” you said and glanced at your Aunt, which was currently annoying your cousin.
“Being polite is the one guaranteed thing we have as our advantage,” TJ shot back.
“Since when are you a philosopher?” you chuckled and he smiled at you.
“Since you invited me, beautiful.”
After you ate and talked to your grandmother, you sat back on the chair you chose before. As it was a stretcher, TJ sat by the end of it, facing you. He had a mischievous glimpse in his eyes.
“It’s hot, right?”
“I guess,” you said cautiously, side glancing TJ.
“There’s a pool,” TJ grinned, taking the hems of his shirt and pulling it over his head. The image of TJ Hammond shirtless was something to behold and no matter how many times you saw it, your breathing was always affected. You managed to control your facial expression though and pulled an unimpressed look.
“Yeah.”
“You can swim,” he wiggled his eyebrows.
“So can you.”
“But I want company.”
“There’s so many people to keep you company,” you turned to point at the bunch of people in their swimsuits, ready for a dive. But then that was your mistake.
The second you turned, TJ jumped and cradled your body in his strong arms, ran towards the pool, completely ignoring your protests and jumped into the water.
“TJ!” You screeched as you resurfaced, your now wet hair all over your face.
TJ just bursted out laughing, his hands still on your waist.
“Let me go!”
You tried getting away from him, you really did, but his arms were firmly secured around your frame. So, instead of pushing him away, you had a better idea. Your hand went to the back of TJ’s head and he smiled, distracted at the touch. Then you bent your hand and brought his face straight into the water.
It was TJ’s turn to yell.
“[Y/n]!”
The easy smile he had on his lips, his muscular arms around your waist, his voice calling your name, his toned chest against your skin, his laugh when he was around you… Your heart stopped at a sudden realization: you were in love with TJ.
You were in love with your best friend, who was pretending to be your boyfriend on a family vacation.
“I’m sorry, TJ, I-”
“Hey, hey, it’s okay. I’m sorry for pulling you into the water like that,” he tried calming you, running one hand up and down your arm. It didn’t help you calm down, it caused goosebumps to your skin.
“I shouldn’t hav-”
“Are you okay?” he interrupted. You shook your head. “Then everything’s good. I’m not mad. It didn’t hurt, though I did swallow some water,” he chuckled, but went back to seriousness when he saw you didn’t laugh. His long, wet eyelashes made the color of his eyes more prominent, more penetrating, as they searched your face for something. “Are you mad? You know I love you, right, beautiful?”
You had heard him say that a million times, but there was something about the present moment that made you come to a halt.
He loved you as his best friend, no matter what part he was playing for your family, when you loved him as something more.
“Yeah, I know,” was all you managed to say before you pushed yourself out of the pool and went inside the house, towards your room and into the bathroom. You locked the door behind you and pushed your back against the wood. You slid to the ground and pulled your knees to your chest.
All you needed was a few minutes to compose yourself, just that.
You were going to calm down, go back there and pretend TJ was your boyfriend. Only pretend, because he couldn’t know how much you actually wanted it to be true. You would not ruin your friendship because of something stupid that would go away with time.
You just didn’t know TJ had been in love with you for quite some time.

You fell asleep on the couch.
Not exactly on the couch, since it was more of on top of TJ. At least he had fallen asleep too, his arms wrapped around you and his lips on your hair, your head on his chest since he was half laying down, a blanket on top of the two of you.
“I think we should wake up and pack,” he mumbled, his eyes still closed. You only snuggled closer to him and inhaled. It made you dizzy from how good it was, but you thought it was only the sleep. You couldn’t deny that rough from sleep voice was something else.
“Shh. Five more minutes,” you hissed.
“Can’t argue with that.”
You fell asleep again and woke up two hours later, thankfully without a hangover.
You raised from the couch – and TJ embrace – and immediately missed TJ’s warmth. You ran your hands over your arms, but it was little use. You let him have the blanket and settled for his coat instead. Once you inhaled the cloth and his cologne, you knew you had a win-win situation.
You went to your bedroom and started packing your bags.
Ten minutes later, TJ’s head poked through the doorway as he rapped his finger’s on your wooden door.
“Want some help or do you prefer breakfast?” his voice was low and it made something inside of you warm.
“How about I help you with breakfast and then you help me here?”
“Sounds perfect, beautiful.”
Who cares if it was lunch time? You settled for pancakes and eggs. Easy right?
Not so much when TJ hooked his phone on your stereo and had the two of you singing loudly. He even made you drop the bowel on the counter as he wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you to a dance.
“TJ!” you screeched as he almost made you collapse on the floor.
“Now, beautiful, do you really think I’d let you fall?” he twirled you around slowly, knowing your soft socks made your feet slippery.
“No, I don’t,” you smiled as you clasped your hands around his neck again and your head on his shoulder.
“Good,” he replied, his own smile on his lip as he rested his head on top of yours, his hands back to your waist.
You simply spun around to the song until it was finished.
“Now, food.”
Two hours later, you had everything packed, both yours and TJ’s.
“Ready to face your family with your hot boyfriend?” he asked, a sly smile on his lips
“No. But what the hell, let’s do this.”
“That’s my girl!”
It wasn’t a long trip.
