I cannot recommend this fic strongly enough. The characterizations, the hurt/comfort, the amazing writing of it all. Ghost will break your heart and heal it all over again. Johnny will make you smile and then make you fall in love with him.

like, even when they look bright and happy, your brain still fears something about them. Not in an uncanny valley kind of way (although that is also a good one) but in a “I don’t want to turn my back to them, because even though we are friends, I can’t stop thinking that they are dangerous, that they are the hunters and I am their prey”. Don’t get me started on how much I love when the batfam are referred to with that metaphor I will not shut up for weeks

Even better if Dick didn’t really have that ‘aura’ around him when he joined the team, and because they were slowly acclimated the team never noticed, but then they don’t see him for a while, and when he’s back, they can’t help but fear for themselves???? Even though they know Dick would never even think of hurting them????
