When we talk about Best Girl™️ Steris, we talk about her helpfulness, her ability to plan ahead and anticipate the needs of others.

What we don't talk about is that she developed this skill because she has no other talents or coping mechanisms in a world where she is basically powerless and completely vulnerable otherwise.

SHE HAS AN ANXIETY DISORDER AND THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT GIVES HER ANY SENSE OF CONTROL OR SAFETY. SHE'S BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE CHILDHOOD.

Allomantic savantism doesn't seem that bad for most mistings, obviously being a tin savant would suck that was demonstrated enough but most metals don't really have drastic drawbacks to burning them.

I don't think there is any reason for let's say a coinshot to stop flaring or burning their metals.

Just saying if I was a coinshot I would have burned enough steel to permanently engrave blue lines to my retinas

While this book has been a challenge to get through, which is partially my fault, I have savored several lines. This is one of them. It is such a great description of how different guns feel when you shoot them. I always stop to appreciate a well-written description. Not one that takes you out of a story, but that makes the ordinary world take on a slightly different, magical perspective. I love writing that helps you not take the everyday for granted.

8.3.2017 Alloy of Law :: Steris In honour of this women's day I decided to finish my seriously neglected portrait of Steris, my newest female character crush. She is the most unique woman I have ever read about in a book that I associated myself so with, and she felt even more special written by a male author. She is a high society woman, who is socially unintelligent, but very smart and organized, which I find is a very rare combination in a fictional women. I just downright fell in love with her wit and realistic image of self impotance. We need more unique women in fiction, and I encourage men and women alike to write realistic and original female characters. 😊 We need to be proud of ourselves, especially if we do not fit the shape or size or state of mind that society tells us to, and we need to support each other in our uniqeness! 😘 Love, Iggy
