I was reading your posts, and I realized you watched Sonic X! How did you feel abt sonadow at the end when Shadow sacrificed himself for everyone? (When Shadow punched Sonic and removed his inhibitors to teleport the explosion away)
I did! That was actually my first introduction to Shadow. I played the games before he existed and then hadn't heard of him until then. I think that scene is partially what sealed sonadow for me to be honest. And if you've read a certain fic of mine you'll see how Sonic feels about Shadow ever taking off his inhibitors and how the tables sort of got reversed on that one but in any case!
I think it shows the depth of care Shadow is capable of, how far he's willing to go to protect what's important. Sonic became important. Once Shadow realized Sonic was about to dive headfirst into stopping the explosion to save his friends, he stopped Sonic.
I think there's a good amount of romantic imagery in those scenes too. The little pink petals that look like hearts for example? The way Shadow looks at Sonic after he says his goodbyes to Cosmo and they're immediately in sync? The way Sonic tells Shadow to hold on, knowing what he's about to do, before sagging against him after Shadow punches him to save him....
Yup. That's part of what did it for me. I watched that in 2020 and was like. Welp. These idiots gay for each other and then the rest is fanfic history!
