P5 fic where Haru writes fanfiction. Her handle is "Strawberry_Clouds <3" and she usually only writes for an audience of 20 people because she likes to write about classical literature. 80% of her fics are pure, G-rated fluff, usually about Rodion Raskolnikov from Crime and Punishment trying to host an afternoon tea. 20% of her fics are bloody gore-fests filled with the most graphic description of physical violence you've ever heard, usually about Raskolnikov getting beaten to death with an axe. She doesn't get much engagement or post fics super often, but writing makes her happy. It's just a little hobby of hers.

One day, kind of on a whim, she decided to write for a new fandom: rpf fic of the Phantom Thieves.

It's not what she usually writes and it felt a little weird to write about her closest friends, but Haru thought the idea was fun. The Phandom had so many misconceptions about what the Thieves were really like, and she liked mixing those 'fanon characterizations' with stuff that actually happened to them. It was interesting! She quickly wrote a fic about the Leader of the Phantom Thieves (codename: Ace) enjoying a nice book and a cup of tea, then posted it, expecting nothing more than...maybe 15 hits. Then, she went to bed, because she liked to write before bed.

When she woke up the next morning, she found that her fic had gotten 300 hits overnight, along with a couple comments asking her to make more. And she sort of wanted to, mostly out of curiousity.

A few days later, Haru posted a fic about the Leader of the Phantom Thieves having his face beaten in with a lead pipe, which received 500 hits overnight along with dozens of comments begging her to make more. The sudden pressure made her a little more nervous, but...she kind of wanted to write more.

There wasn't any harm in it, right? It was only fanfiction. So many people were asking her to write more, and it would be nice to make them happy. Really, what's the worst that could happen?

3 weeks later, Ren calls a meeting because he wants to show the Thieves all this fanfic Futaba found about him dying in increasingly brutal ways

@kingdomofbrokenhearts and i were musing again

after shen qingqiu (shen yuan) transmigrates, he takes a few days to familiarize himself with the Original Goods' house. he finds a strange "artifact" (a D20). Of course, SQQ being SQQ, he recognizes it immediately. It's an artifact of chance.

rolling the dices either gives the roller a range of really bad luck (1) or really high (20). now, sqq is a bit of a gambling addict. (he loves the ups and downs of spending points/receiving points and JUMPED placing a bet at the IAC). he is HOOKED on this dice immediately.

he uses it for innocuous things - when ming fan and the gang beat up luo binghe for the jade pendant, sqq rolls the dice and it gets them to stop and the jade pendant falls right into his lap.

for the skinner demon mission, sqq rolls it to find the culprit. well... it works! but he wakes up kidnapped and ahem disrobed.

it gets to the point where the disciples all recognize the dice and they're all like "shizun, plz no." shizun thinks "shizun, plz yes."

when liu qingge gets tired of his shixiong using the dice, he tries to steal it. the only problem is that the dice is now linked to sqq, so it shows right back in his pocket.

now we get to the IAC.

imagine an sqq desperately trying to roll the dice to change the outcome, to fix lbh's fate. he keeps rolling and rolling, hoping that something, anything, will stop this from happening.

lbh steps up to him and places his hands over sqq's, watching him do this, and tells him, "shizun... it will be okay."

it won't though, will it? lbh still has to go into the abyss. he still has to go through this character arc. sqq still has to be the scum villain.

rolling the dice consecutively makes each outcome more likely to be worse (rolling at disadvantage). so, the abyss cracks open even further and swallows lbh. and he has the dice in hand.

now lbh gets to go through the abyss with the artifact of chance.

why doesn't it go back to sqq? because lbh and sqq are tied by a string of fate. the dice recognize their fates being tied together.

except now with lbh rolls the dice when he is in the abyss... some of that luck also ties to sqq as well.
