I took a break, sort-of came back and then just didn’t post again but here I am, returned, with a post about something I teased a while back…
Accidental Inter-dimensional travel with Peter Parker in my MCU DR
Today, I thought we could explore this together as I ease back into posting and hopefully fall back in love with shifting because I’ve been in a bit of a slump lately - unmotivated and disbelieving.
Let’s get into it, shall we? - disclaimer I have completely rejigged the MCU timeline so dates will be incorrect for this reality but hopefully it’s not too obvious
It all starts in 2006 after a one night stand (as it usually does) and ends with me in Tony Stark’s custody. I might explain my backstory in another post but all you need to know for now is that I end up being separated from Tony in 2008, during his time in a cave whilst becoming Iron Man, and my identity becomes a mystery. I end up being fostered by Michelle Jone’s parents and attend Midtown High, where I meet Ned and Peter.
Have you seen Miraculous Ladybug and Cat Noir? Yeah imagine that but me and Spiderman. In the daytime, I’m just a random teenage girl and Peter is a nerdy teenage boy (perf duo, am I right? - that’ a joke), but at night I’m a crime-fighting vigilante called Mirage (I did in fact get powers between 2008 and 2009) who teams up with Spider-Man.
We have no clue about the other’s identity and it stays that way for a good couple of years.
When I’m 16, I end up writing a paper on the quantum realm, reality and theories about the universe and existence (wink wink) however, my teachers are not pleased with my “eccentric” and “far-fetched rambling” and therefore fail me.
Wronged and feeling petty, I hack into the Stark Industry’s website and then their database to find Tony’s personal email. Through that, I send him my project and a request for him to tell them I’m also a genius like him (humility has never been a Stark trait - it’s genetic at this point)
Impressed, he agrees and even gives me a position as one of his interns - Peter and I are very shocked to see each other on our first day.
Now you know why I’m his intern - let’s get to the fun stuff
Tony, Peter and I often work on our own individual projects - I mostly come up with the ideas, Tony teaches me the the practical aspects of my projects and then Peter re-explains them because who actually understands maths?
However, we also have “experimental Sundays” (can you tell I love a good ol’ day-specific activity?) where we suggest crazy ideas (well - I do) and we try to make them reality - no pun intended
I decide we should make a Time Machine
Now I know what you’ll say “but Amy, this isn’t how shifting works” - that’s because you haven’t heard of the Bubble Theory (something I completely made up myself and refuse to believe isn’t true)
I hope this made sense, please ignore my shocking handwriting and grammatical errors, I made this whilst half asleep with procreate and a half-fleshed out theory
We make our Time Machine - as one does - and Tony leaves for a moment because there’s a part missing, leaving Peter and I alone with it (big mistake)
At first it’s fine, we’re relaxing and chatting but then we get to the topic of which time period we would go to and eventually end up “arguing”
That’s when the mistake happens, one of us (me but I’ve never been graceful) bumps into the fucking Time Machine, causing something to get messed up inside the mechanism (bro I don’t know, ask Peter)
Tony returns, adding the final touches and then it kind of just… sits around the lab, Tony unwilling to send Peter and I to the Jurassic Period despite hoe much we both beg
Time passes - Peter and I meet each other’s alter egos, unaware that it’s secretly the other behind the mask
Then one day Mirage (me, in case you forgot) and Spider-Man are in the lab together, working on our respective projects when Spider-Man shoots his web without looking to get something off the work-top
However, it’s the same time I shout some stupid hypothetical question at him (not unusual, but catching him off guard)
His web misses the screwdriver and hits the Time Machine instead, setting it off and engulfing the two of us in a bright light
We soon become conscious again, only nothing seems very “just travelled to the past-core” as I elegantly put it to Spidey
That’s when we see it, this sign:
“What’s a Gotham” Spidey asks, as I freak the fuck out
That’s right guys, from one hero universe to another - I’ve accidentally dragged Spider-Man aka Peter Parker into the DC Universe
