jayvik shippers PLEASE be normal about Mel & Sky challenge, part 2, difficulty rating: (impossible)
One of my least favorite things Sanji/Pudding shippers do is make Sanji sound so unloved and undesirable as well as demonizing how he treats women besides her in order to make Pudding’s feelings for him and his treatment of her more “unique.” They say stuff like “Pudding’s the only girl into Sanji!” or “I ship it because I can’t see any other woman liking Sanji!” are Viola and Osome a joke to you I even saw one claim Pudding is “the only woman who accepts every side of Sanji” SCREW YOU SCREW YOU SCREW YOU guess we’re gonna ignore Viola literally read his mind and fell for him despite being disgusted with what she saw at first. When you do confront them with the fact Pudding’s far from the only woman who’s into Sanji, they try to downplay Viola and Osome’s feelings by saying crap like that Viola’s feelings weren’t “real” because she didn’t cry when he left (let’s ignore context and that unlike Pudding she had less reason to cry) or that Osome and Cosette would’ve been disgusted and lost interest if they saw Sanji’s perverted side (way to miss the point of Oda showing how women like Sanji’s chivalry more than they dislike his perversion). They also say crap like that Pudding is “the only girl Sanji treats right” because he acted less pervy towards her after the wedding…even though Osome shows this is how Sanji acts towards ALL women who are earnestly attracted to him. They will claim stuff like that Sanji is “his worst self” or has “his worst moments” around Nami and Robin (the moments where he saves them mean nothing I guess).
Ship whatever you want, but man, the way Sanji/Pudding shippers degrade Sanji and miss the point of Whole Cake Island really pisses me off. Tell me, what hits harder, if Sanji’s treatment of Pudding in Whole Cake Island was to show his chivalry and kindness (y’know, the point of the arc), or to show “the only time he treats a woman right”????
Fact is, Pudding is NOT the only woman into Sanji, nor the only woman who “accepts every side of him”, nor the only woman Sanji treats right.
People are still mad about sasusaku for some reason and I just want to see cute art but the arguing is clogging up the tag
I do know that your answer is “nothing would have satisfied me” but just bc I’m curious: what mysterious talks between fjord and jester or Beau and Yasha were supposed to happen for you to accept them as developed?
For Fjord and Jester, I would have liked by now to have seen at least one example of Fjord actually seeing and respecting Jester as the competent adult that she is. Literally just one example of him understanding or even acknowledging her perspective. He spent the first half of the campaign negging her (literally in her own words made her feel stupid), and spent the second half growing apart from her and towards other people. And then over hiatus Travis changes his mind about romance, so now Fjord buys her children's toys and constantly tries to be more macho than her and talks about running away together even though that’s not what Jester needs or wants. I mean there are loads of posts in the anti tag that talk at length about how they just don’t work for one another.
Though, say what you will about Fjorester, it’s actually given me a new kind of respect for WidoJest, which I previously loathed. Because at least there are actually many examples of Caleb understanding and respecting and trusting Jester as a person and seeing her for who she is - even in this last episode, and often in stark contrast to Fjord.
As for Beau and Yasha, I want to be convinced that they actually work as a couple, because, honestly, I really don’t see how you can be with someone long term when you Just. Can’t. Talk. To. Them.
They actively have “anti-chemistry” - they are really good characters individually, but when you put them together, any and all characterization falls away and you have to watch them actively be less smart and less interesting for a few minutes. Their talks are the kind of thing you have to grit your teeth through - that even THEY grit their teeth through - and they just aren’t like that with anyone else. They have great chemistry with so many other people. They engage better and relate more with so many other people. I want to be told why specifically they are drawn to each other even though they can barely hold a conversation (the sad and real answer just being, “they’re both lesbians so they’re being paired by default with no other reason”).
What do they have in common? How do they help each other? What can they learn from each other? I want to see them make each other laugh! and have arguments! and be real fucking people! Things that we see them do with other people all the time! I want them to be able to talk without losing all of their depth and pushing their characterization aside for a sec. I want to see what shared values they have that makes them work as a couple.
Basically, what kind of future do they honestly see with each other? What specifically do they like about each other? We’ve heard them say “she’s special” and “I’ve liked her for a long time” and “I get so nervous around her” so many times but never once have they actually shown why. We’ve just been told. What honestly leads these two to think that they could work, when every time they interact they prove the opposite?
I want these relationships to work - but as it stands I’m just not at all convinced.
I ship things, but then I don't understand why other shippers get so intense over made up quotes or headcanons for fun ideas, its just for fun.
some people really have nothing better to do than to get mad at other people about the stupidest shit
Yo tbh the way the star wars fandom treats real POC, specifically REAL black, REAL jewish, and REAL asian people has been, frankly, unforgivable. Like, sure, I’m sorry that Finn doesn’t have the highest fic count on AO3, it’s a real tragedy, but can we maybe not send slurs to black women over it?
Why is spite - shipping so damn satisfying?!!
I am a Reylo
Anyone who has followed me for any amount of time should know this. My bio states it. And if you don't want me following you or reblogging because of who i ship, that's fine. I think it hurts that fans feel the need to attack one another because of preferences. In the end, none of it matters. I follow plenty of antis/nonshippers because I love their content and i love Star Wars as a whole. Canon, EU/Legends, animated, prequels, sequels, OG, whatever.
And not all antis are bad people, just like not all Reylos are bad people
Just because I am a Reylo doesn't mean I am not a fan of Star Wars in general.
Just because I am a Reylo doesn't mean I don't enjoy other ships.
Just because I'm a Reylo doesn't mean I am a bad person.
You are NOT who you ship
As long as you understand what's right and wrong
As long as you can differentiate between fiction and reality
As long as you respect other people's choices, preferences, beliefs, values, ships, ect.
As long as you can be a CONSIDERATE HUMAN BEING
You are NOT who you ship
