Akiaziri didn’t reach out. Kardynkyr decided to message them two days after their attempt to see if they were ready. The purple dragon took twelve hours to answer and simply said ‘no’. Once each day thereafter, Kardynkyr would reach out again and each time was dismissed. It was only increasingly frustrating and Kardynkyr couldn’t understand why the other wouldn’t comply. They both had a responsibility to mate and Kardynkyr was ready to perform but Akiaziri kept denying them over and over again.
After a week with zero attempts made, Kardynkyr was at their wits end. They had waited every day hoping to get a go-ahead from their assigned partner, and the same decline each time was beginning to infuriate them.
Finally, they just cracked. They got up and stormed up to Akiaziri’s quarters to knock loudly at their door. “Akiaziri! I’ve had enough! We are selected mates! We can’t tolerate your abstinence! Come out now!”
They stood fuming as they waited at the door. There was no answer for a while but eventually the door opened a crack.
“Okay…” Akiaziri managed feebly. Tears were streaming down their face as they held the door only wide enough to be seen. “You’re right… We have to…”
Kardynkyr paused, their anger dissipating immediately. “Why are you crying?”
Akiaziri sniffled, gripping the thighs of their pants. “Because… I…I just… I really don’t want to do it, but I know we have to, and I don’t want to disappoint you or Azeros, but I… I just… I don’t think I can do this…”
Kardynkyr frowned and folded their arms. “Do you think I want to do this? This whole event seems like a huge waste of time, but if we don’t mate… It’s like declaring war on our own species.”
“I know!” Akiaziri sniffled. “I just… I know…”
“Is it me?” Kardynkyr asked. “Does the sight of my body sicken you? We can turn the lights off. I can wear a shirt—”
Akiaziri shook their head quickly. “No! Not at all… You’re a very attractive dragon, I just…” They looked down and their lips trembled. “Just imagining any…touch or closeness… It just scares me…” They sobbed and covered their face. “But if we have to, can you just do it quickly? I… Maybe, I can just…Maybe, if I’m distracted or…or unconscious…”
Kardynkyr wrinkled their nose. “No! No, I’m not going to force you to do shit! I’m not a monster! Do you think I can get in the mood if the mere thought of us just being naked together makes you cry?”
Akiaziri was desperately trying to wipe the tears from their eyes. “I’m sorry… I’ll try to stop…”
Kardynkyr waved a hand and backed off. “Helvetti! No, you go calm down. I’m gonna… I don’t know, eat my feelings or something. I’ll come around tomorrow.”
Akiaziri nodded solemnly. “I’m sorry…”
“It’s fine. Just think about how you’re going to get comfortable with this. I’ve already made my peace,” Kardynkyr said. “You have to figure this out.”
“I’ll try…”
Akiaziri receded back into their apartment and shut the door.
Kardynkyr let out a frustrated groan and trudged off, hoping that Akiaziri would figure themselves out soon, for both their sake.
The side the the house used to greet me every morning and every evening. I think it took a liking to my eyes one day and decided to make me feel a little less alone. I used to love staring into those curling threads of green and the gentle winks of white.
Cool winds brushed through my hair so sweetly. The air sticky in its smell. She would stare at me as I watched her, dressed in her veil of green leaves and purple eyes, whispering to me that it was getting too dark to be out. It was dangerous to stay much longer and that my Papa would be worried. And when I couldn’t move she closed her eyes. The house spoke to be in strange ways like that. Would sing me soft prayers at night in its walls. Let me know she was looking over me. The warmth of her arms wrapped around us. Like vines on a wall.
But they’re not there anymore. They’re gone. I’ll never see those flowers again.
Somethings require you to walk them alone. It gets difficult because it feels soo lonely, as beautiful as the journey itself may be. It feels so lonely.
My biggest mistake was relying on people to deal with my pain, using people as emotional clutches. This does not teach you how to really deal with pain.
Oh but the loneliness, it gets so loud. It is so hard to ignore.
“Open, Gate of the Lion, Leo!” Lucy called out. After a solo job, she was almost home when some jerks thought they could take advantage of her in the dark East forest.
Given they had shadow magic, it would have been a correct assumption if she didn’t have her very own light spirit.
“Wow, it’s dark,” Leo said as the light from his gate faded. He immediately lit his fists, pushing one of the attackers out of the shadows. Lucy roundhouse kicked him into Loke’s punch, sending him crashing into the nearby
“Crap, a fairy tail wizard.”
“Light magic too, let’s get out of here. Grab Dan’s legs.”
There was running and fussing.
“Want to chase after them?” Loke asked, turning to face her properly.
She had thought there was something wrong with his sillouhette, but had been focused on listening and feeling for magic signatures.
Lucy burst out laughing.
“I’ll take that as a ‘no’?” Loke asked, raising an eyebrow.
She calmed down from her mad cackling to more contained giggles. “So-sorry,” Lucy giggled, wiping her eye, “I’m just not sure your Santa Hat goes with the suit.”
Loke touched his head, eye widening as he felt the fur trim. Then he grinned at her, “Well, tis the season. You called me during the Spirit World Solstice Festival.”
“Since when do celestial spirits celebrate the solstice with Santa hats?” Lucy chuckled.
“Since it made their pretty masters happy,” Loke said, offering his arm. “What, don’t I make a good Santa Claus? I’ll have you know I bring people excellent presents.”
Lucy laughed some more, taking his arm and letting him send out witchlights to mark the rest of the path to Magnolia proper. “I don’t think even you could pull off the tubby belly and long white beard. Capricorn might be able to.”
It was Loke’s turn to laugh, “It is my dearest pleasure to present you this gift.” He imitated Capricorn. “A scale, because I do believe you are putting on some extra weight, dear Loke.”
“When will he let that go!” Lucy cackled. “And what would Santa Loke give someone for Christmas?”
“Oh, it’s twelve gifts if you’re really doing it right, and the first one would be exhausting laughter,” he said, his eyes sparkling. “The rest will have to be a surprise.”
“Well then, I can’t wait for the rest,” Lucy said. “Are you going to keep wearing this?” Lucy flicked the puffball at the end of the hat.
“You want to try it on?”
“I think it looks too good on you.”
“Then I think I’ll wear it until Christmas.”
“You’re as old as grandfather Christmas.”
“Rude.”
“Good thing I’m terribly shallow and only care about your good looks.”
Super short fluffy addition. Give L an inch, he’ll take a mile. A new (occasional) ritual is added, to Light’s chagrin (but it’s not that annoying...~).

I hate what happens when I forget to drink my coffee (even when I drink decaf!), holy fuckles, this day felt eternal. every minute just... refused to pass by. I just want to go to bed and sleep and wake up and drink my coffee so I can be back in the saddle at 100%, y'know?

The day didn't suck, because my wife and friends are hilarious AF and that comes across every DM and voice message I get, but the fact that, whenever I didn't talk to them, it felt like... fuck, the boulder guy going uphill? Some mythic stuff. Greek mythology or w/e.

I'm so fucking tired and discombobulated that I can't even remember what fictional peeps in funky myths were doing. All right, that's enough, read y'all tomorrow.
