There's never been a TV show with Jason Todd as Robin, has there been? I think that should change. I think we should just fully turn the dial back to 1983 or whenever. We should have pre crisis Jason Todd and Batman doing stuff together. We've already had Dick Grayson and Tim Drake on TV shows. Damian's been in film, and apparently Duke is even on that Batwheels show. But no Robin Jason love? I don't want Red Hood. Frankly, Red Hood represents a horrible story from the late 80s, and he's violent and dark. I don't like Red Hood. I want young Jason Todd. Is that too much to ask? A tv show about Batman and Jason Todd as Robin? Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon can be there too. Hell, bill it as an AU and work in all the post crisis characters eventually! But start in the world of pre crisis DC.

Also, a show like this would definitely have Black Mask and Killer Croc showing up. Invented while Jason was Robin, introduced just prior to the Crisis on Infinite Earths? These two belong in a show homaging that era. Honestly, I think Killer Croc should stay the murderer of Jason's parents. That's how it was pre crisis, and that's how it should be again. Black Mask also deserves to be the rebuke of capitalism and social standards and "masks" that he was back in the 80s. He represented a man broken down by the shallow and vapid world he lived in; a man driven to insanity by the selfishness of those around him. He would make an amazing tv show villain!

I know I'm not a TV executive, but c'mon! Tell me you wouldn't watch this! And tell me you can't think of more ideas for a show like this. To ensure this has a chance of becoming a full discussion, i'm gonna tag some blogs who i think might be interested in this: @billybatsonmylove @conundrumrespeculis @the-fyre-flie @one-of-batmans-orphans I really think this could make a great tv series. Honestly.

A Murderbot show or movie would be great with all the visuals you can play with...

+ We open with a scene from Sanctuary Moon. Then the screen minimizes and we're mid-battle.

+ Always a scrolling feed of reminders and stuff from ART in a window that Murderbot keeps minimizing and ART keeps unminimizing, etc.

+ Murderbot decides it finds some human unbearably annoying but are forced to interact with them. It dubs over that person's voice and appearance with an actor from Sanctuary Moon.

Did I totally imagine a British single-series cozy mystery dramedy where David Mitchell plays himself solving mysteries using his uptight pedantry to notice small details Poirot-style but then in the last episode (say sixth, it would work well with standard British Brevity before the gimmick got old) a police detective discovers that actually Mitchell had been murdering all these people over small social slights and grammatical errors and framing other people for it

Somebody expresses surprise that he of all people would do such a thing and the detective is like “actually there were about half a dozen sketches about it on Mitchell & Webb Look alone, weren’t there?” and everybody’s like “oh yeah, I guess we should have seen this coming, huh”

I think the whole concept works so well I might have totally imagined it, just so convincingly I forgot I made it up

Reinventing The ‘Mean Girl’ Trope

I’ve been thinking about this trope for a little while and, while some people might argue that it’s regressive and very often misogynistic (since the “mean” girl is usually supposed to be a foil to the “ideal” girl for the male gaze), I think it’s possible to reinvent it in an interesting way! Many people love this trope because they see the Mean Girl/Queen Bee as a symbol of powerful and unapologetic femininity, someone who knows who they are and will stop at nothing to make sure that she gets exactly what she wants. So what if instead of it getting ridden of, it was reimagined in a way that would make it more complex and layered? Alison DiLaurentis from Pretty Little Liars is (to me) an example of how this trope can be used in a much more effective way (though she was still a product of the time she was written at). So how could a character like her be written today?

Imagine a mean/popular girl/woman character who doesn’t care about people’s appearance, sexuality or literally anything they can’t control but instead bullies and blackmails people based on things they DO. She’s not necessarily wealthy (like Heather Chandler, Regina George or Alison DiLaurentis) nor ‘beautiful’ in a conventional way (white/skinny/blond), but she undeniably has a unique type of beauty, charm and style (doesn’t have to be a conventional style, but hers is definitely distinct). Or perhaps she is indeed conventionally ‘beautiful’, not necessarily according to real world conventions but rather based on what is considered beautiful or attractive in the fictional world that YOU create (meaning she can look like whatever you want). In any case, she knows how to use her qualities in ways that allows her to dodge being ostracized for not “fitting” into societal standards, which makes her so influential that she can be evil without having to use societal norms to have people wrapped around her finger. She doesn’t need to fit in, instead she makes OTHERS want to fit into her circle, no matter who they are. She doesn’t need to bully people based on things like their weight or their sexuality. Why would she, after all? There’s nothing wrong with either of these things. It’s too easy and quite frankly boring and uncreative to go with what society might perceive as “shameful” or “unacceptable”.

Instead, she makes people terrified of her because she knows their deepest, most shameful secrets. She knows people’s insecurities that are not based on who they are but rather what they do/have done (cheating on someone good/for a test, stealing something of value, making somebody else take the blame for one’s actions, nearly killing somebody, etc.).

She thinks typical bullies are pathetic, because there’s so many evil things they could do but instead they decide to just… Bully people based on insignificant details like their features, their weight or their sexuality? When they could go far beyond all of that and have everybody wrapped around their finger by digging deep enough to find things about them that are truly morally reprehensible? She’s not interested in helping you become a better person nor does she want to punish you for your lack of moral principles, since she herself is no saint at all. All she wants is to push you further and further into your own demise for her own pleasure. Oh, and she doesn’t go for easy targets either! Only the ones who think they are tough and untouchable. The ones who think they’re too powerful to be held accountable, not knowing that she is the one who pulls all the strings! You want to see evil? She’s gonna show you evil.

As an ace person it's kind of a comforting ship because it's not overly physical/sexual.

I'm thinking and I don't think I've seen any sort of oversexualization of Buddie.

But for real before this season (and subsequently bi buck) their relationship could've qualified as queer platonic if you do wish to see it that way.

Cause I'm demi I love a good friend to lovers so in this case (very very rare I may have seen it okay out in a few gay shows from Asia like veryy few) it's like finding hold honestly.

But I dunno it's not often that you can get a queer (romantic!) relationship (especially with two men) that's not over sexualized but rather based/celebrated in their friendship.

Most same sex relationships in TV are portrayed as friends and idk I'd like to see more friends to lovers with same sex pairings.

It's be interesting and fresh because there's always that line of there's no way.

But I think its be cool to explore sexuality as a spectrum and also push the boundaries a bit of what a family could look like and finding (romantic!) love in a gender you didn't expect.

Even having unlabeled or queer identities on TV normalized could mean a lot in taking the pressure off having rigid gender roles in relationships in real life.

I think more freedom in expression is needed across all boards. Gender, religions, sexual identity etc.

Idk I'm just rambling.

I really want a super stereotypical anime magical girl show, but instead of sparkle friendship rays or whatever the main characters get science and chemistry powers, and instead of a magical animal friend as a mentor it's just their Overworked and Underfunded™️ science teacher who is on his 4th existential crisis of the day after finding out that magic is real?? But at least its science magic so it kind if makes sense?? He doesn't know. All he knows is these girls can do MAGNESEUM BLASTS without getting hurt and they kind of scare him
