"They would not fucking say that" but it's because they don't talk
Uhhhhhhhhh
The only superpower I want is for people to understand what I'm saying by simply nodding my head like a silent protagonist in an adventure video game.
My another hot take is that story based RPGs like deltarune and omori just straight up don't benefit from having silent protagonists.
Makes the story drag, the themes unclear and inefficiently communicated, and the dialogue sound unnatural.
Idea. A silent protagonist but they have a cold all the time.
You don’t hear them talk. But you do hear them sniffle, sneeze and wipe their nose every now and then.
So I’ve noticed something about popular games (and ones I like) in the past decade….
The writing for the Mc is not good. I forget that Yuu exists in the game sometimes. Like I know Yuu is a self insert character/camera man for the player but they are “too much” of an insert character. They don’t get enough dialogue boxes and when they do get to say something, most of the time it’s ignored by the characters. I know people joke and say the Mc is the “therapist character” but the mc barely does any therapy. Ace was the one who confronted Riddle, Riddle, Lilia and Jack were the ones who confronted Leona. Book 3 is probably the only book where the character had the most impact and active role. Book 4 the mc does play an active role until the octavinelle trio steps in. And don’t get me started on book 5,6, and 7. I’m still mad mc didn’t get to play a more active role in book 7 considering their budding friendship with malleus.
Here’s to hoping book 8 developing the mc and grim. I don’t know how much of the main story we have left but I am hoping for a satisfying conclusion. Also one more hot take, I think the mc should be allowed to return to their world. Other than Grim, the first years, the heartslabyul gang and Malleus. They aren’t really all that close to the other students, acquaintances at best with most of them. (Plus they don’t even have documentation to get a job). I don’t believe Mc is dead, even though this game is an isekai, I don’t think Disney would allow the Mc to be dead in their original world.
This is a topic that is always in my back pocket.
