This wonderful curving hedge was probably created from the compact evergreen Veronica pinguifolia (disk-leaved hebe, thick-leaved speedwell). It made a great feature and when not pruned to a hedge will produce short spikes of white flowers in early summer.

The trailing stems of Dichondra argentea 'Silver Falls' (silver nickel vine) are perfect flowing down this large container display. This tender herbaceous perennial is usually treated as an annual for these displays and grown from seed.

In the shade of a woodland garden the Anemone blanda (winter windflower, Balkan anemone) were flowering. The flowers are an intense blue, but the species can produce shades of pink and white. This spreading perennial here contrasts with the silver evergreen foliage of Lamium maculatum 'Beacon Silver' (spotted deadnettle).

A sweeping display of Brunnera macrophylla ‘Jack Frost’ (Siberian bugloss) with blue sprays of flowers held above large, heart-shaped silver leaves edged and veined with green. This herbaceous perennial grows best in moderately fertile, humus-rich soil that is moist but well-drained, with a cool site in full or partial shade.

Carpeting the soil under this Quercus robur (oak) tree are the long-lived tuberous perennial Cyclamen coum (eastern cyclamen) with Galanthus nivalis (snowdrop). The shocking pink flowered Cyclamen have gradually self-sown and naturalised, providing a winter and early spring display. The rounded leaves sometimes have silver markings on the upper surface which provide another display value for the winter garden.
