I haven't done a tomodachi life update in a hot minute but Simon might divorce his wife (my oc) bc he won't talk to her unless I force him, and even then, his relationship won't go up. But I'm not even mad bc that means I can ship bloodymary...
(Simon's status with Pat atm is 'making it work', which is the second lowest)
Bloodymary x Hozier because they make me crazy (ft. @luci-notactuallyshortforlucifer)
Project Hail Mary/Ryland Grace's song:
Iron Lung/Simon's song:
lyrics&ramblings under the cut
All Things End(aka Ryland Grace and Second Chances)
A two-tonne weight around my chest feels like
It just dropped a twenty-storey height
okay am i crazy to compare it to the gravity shenanigans on the hail mary especially when escaping Adrian's orbit orrrrrr
The last time I felt your weight on my chest, you said
"We didn't get it right, but, love, we did our best"
And we will again
hourghhhhhhh Grace making a ton of mistakes on the way to figuring out a solution to the astrophage problem(="not getting it (perfectly) right") but still succeeding in the end(="did our best")
Movin' on in time and takin' more from
Everything that ends
Okay this is a huge ass stretch but "movin on in time" lowkey fits Grace explaining relativity and "takin more from everything that ends" is just Earth using astrophage to power the ship that will end the problem of astrophage
I have never known a silence like the one fallen here
Never watched my future darken in a single tear
THIS IS LITERALLY STRATT'S "YOU ARE MY SOLUTION" SCENE OKAY. DO YOU SEE THE VISION. OURGHHHHH
I know we want this to go easy by bein' somebody's fault
But we've gone long enough to know this isn't what we want
And that isn't always bad
I wholeheartedly believe that, in the end, Grace understands Stratt's decision to betray him for humanity, and, instead of going with the easy option of pretending it's somebody's(Stratt's) fault and holding grudges, he accepts the things that happened. After all, without her betrayal he wouldnt have met Rocky
And all things end
All that we intend is (scrawled in/built on) sand
And slips right through our hands
And just knowin' that everything will end
Should not change our plans when we begin again
That scene on Erid where sand literally slips through Grace's hands,,,,,,,, knowin that he will never see Earth if he saves Rocky but finds a better life on Erid and is doing the thing he loves again,,,,,,,,,,,,, just jettisson me outta the airlock atp
No Plan(aka Simon and pushing through the deepest darkness with literally no prepared plan)
disclaimer i get very #bloodymary here
For starts
What a waste to say the heart could feel apart
Or feel complete, baby
Why would you make out of words a cage for your own bird?
When it sings so sweet
The screaming, heaving fuckery of the world?
Why would you offer a name to the same old tired pain?
When all things come from nothing and, honey, if nothing's gained?
So due to this verse partially talking about how pointless it is to find words to describe deep feelings, im just gonna *screaming crying throwing up* my way outta here and say only "ITS SO THEMMMMMMMMM"(i have. no coherent analysis on this specific part okay)
There's no plan, there's no race to be run
The harder the (rain/pain), honey, the sweeter the sun
There's no plan, there's no kingdom to come
I'll be your man if you got love to get done
Sit in and watch the sunlight fade
Honey, enjoy, it's gettin' late
There's no plan, there's no hand on the reign
As Mack explained, there will be darkness again
the last line refers to Dr. Katherine J. Mack, an astrophysicist (oh my fucking god i am about to explode) and the heat death of the universe expected to eventually happen in the far far future.
Hozier's quote:
One of the most likely being heat death, where basically all energy will leave the stars. They will burn themselves out and the universe will go dark, essentially. Whatever about the end of the world, No Plan is just saying that that’s the least of your worries.
The End of the Universe being the least of one's worries... living the life to its fullest despite knowing that All Things End........ okay you see the correlation now right
But your secret is safe with me 'cause if secrets were like seeds
Keep my body from the fire, hire a gardener for my grave
Your secret is safe with me and if secrets were like seeds
When I'm lying under marble, marvel at flowers you'll have made
JUST. AURGHHHHHHHH. The Seeds? Keep My Body From The Fire(the fire inside the submarine)?? Your secret is safe with me(The Butcher telling Grace about his crimes and his Saving Grace accepting him)???
My heart is thrilled by the still of your hand
That's how I know now that you understand
How big the hourglass, how deep the sand?
I shouldn't hope to know, but here I stand
HURRRRGHHHHHHHHHHHHH. AURGHHHHH. BWEGH. GAH. okay i ran out of words to say gbye
not my usual content but i just remembered i have free will and can post whatever i want so. woe project hail mary x iron lung AU be upon ye
Eden and the Consolidation Of Iron (COI) are actually based not on Earth, but rather on Kepler-452b, a distant exoplanet that was affected by its host star, aptly named Kepler-452, and much of the surrounding Cygnus constellation getting eaten up by what Earth eventually calls the “Petrova Line”. The human-like inhabitants do not have the technology to identify this line, so they call the event “The Quiet Rapture”, and Eden and the COI spend the rest of their lifespans attempting to resolve this event and in constant debate whether it is the work of science, or the work of some latent God.
In the year 1732, the COI captures the wanted mass murderer Simon, also known as the Butcher, and sends him on the SM-13 to explore a nearby “blood ocean” on the closest nearby moon, Moon AT-5, believing that this anomaly will help them gain more information on the Silent Rapture—or, at the very least, find some way to reproduce vital life systems on Kepler-452b. After weeks of losses from the working crew due to a radiation accident and harrowing silence from the ship, a data core with information that was previously aboard the SM-8 surfaces.
In early 1733, a foreign ship from the planet of Erid also explores Moon AT-5, also attracted to the anomaly of an ocean made from biological substrates and believing it to be of importance. They leave the moon shortly thereafter, as they find the black box with foreign technology inside and, strangely, a mutated and biologically stunted Eridian.
Simon does not remember anything of his own life before he met God, but he does remember the beings that saved him. He spends just under 245 Earth-years learning Eridian language, culture, and customs; and soon he is one of their own. Somewhere in that time, he meets his lifelong mate, a naturally-born Eridian who would later be come to be known as “Adrian” in Human English.
In the year 1977, Simon boards the Blip-A along with a crew of fellow Eridians on another, far safer expedition to explore, and hopefully stop, what they know now is the Petrova Line: a “line” of light-consuming astrophage that needs to be stopped before Erid’s host star and surrounding constellation is consumed, too. But soon after, the crew falls to an unidentified illness while still in space—except for Simon; who, due to his biological evolution, is immune to the radiation that plagues his crew.
46 Earth-years later, in 2023, the Hail Mary launches from Earth with the same mission as Blip-A. In 2047, Simon—now “Rocky”, finally returns to his beloved home planet alongside the human space-hero, Ryland Grace.
