The urge to pick up the red scrolls of magic (or any Shadowhunter book for that matter) from the shelf and reread it for the 3729474th time hits me every week but, unfortunately, i do want to pass the exams and go to uni so i have to study instead
TWP thoughts pt 1
First order of business, I thought we should go through the wiki page and I'll give my thoughts on the information on its page.
Now last I looked was February 28th, as such, I haven't looked at Cassie's latest information dump on tumblr and so these notes should not inlude much from that, I'll give my thoughts on those separately; after I sit down to read and process them. Apologies.
What really confuses me is the alleged direct connections it will have to TLH, other than James' gun which seems to already be in Kit's possession, Cassie said years ago that we will once again see Cortana's scabbard, the Blackthorn sword, and similar magic. I can assume at least one of these items will come up during the Kitty roadtrip as something they either search for or accidentally stumble upon.
According to the wiki, Julian is the current owner of the Blackthorn sword, so that would explain how the sword would come up.
As far as Cortana's scabbard - that will end up having connections to Faerie with its specific origins being Paris. That means it will either be connected to a Kitty stop in Paris (which as far as I am aware is not confirmed in any way, just a possibility since Paris was mentioned quite a few times through the books and a lot of families have history there) or in Faerie, in which case it will probably come up as part of Dru's plot or Ash. Maybe Emma gets it back, I assume that's the case. My rogue idea is that Jem gets it back, but honestly I don't know if that's even remotely possible considering he is rather busy being a father, I don't think we'll see him run into crazy adventures, I see him in a more consulting/lore source role.
I think the meaning of a lot of what Cassie said about the book in the early days will no longer be entirely true. The reality is we've been waiting on this book for a decade and a lot of her initial ideas may have needed to change since writing TLH, finishing TDA, writing a million short stories and just because ideas ofc evolve and fall apart with both time and attempts at execution.
Regarding Thule: I think a lot of what Cassie said will come true, just not in as significant of a way some may anticipate. For one: T!Emma is dead as we learned in Better in Black, and the important thing about that plotline is that we now know we don't know the half of how those people and interdimensional travel works, we know they can't cross into our universe and just chill there or they will die. I believe T!Simon and T!Kit will still appear, as she promised, but I think they'll be used in a similar manner where they serve as more trivia/sources/tools to convey lore than any sort of serious subplot
The only one I am slightly iffy on how I feel regarding T!Kit, I am sure a short term plot has space to develop there, but I don't see this playing a major role across the series.
It is rather interesting that Cassie said the general exitence of T!Kit will be discussed. This makes me think there's perhaps more to him, he either doesn't exist at all in Thule which would be an interesting development considering the moment Thule split was The Battle at the Burren. Alternatively, he is in fact The First Heir and in the world where Ash (notably) doesn't exist, he is next in line for the throne. That would make him the last king of faerie and welll... Thule didn't give us any context as to what happened to The Seelie Court post-the queen's death.
Jaime is claimed to be a major player - however Cassie doesn't seem to really want to give us much information on him in general so either that has changed or I am losing my mind and forgetting information. Him and Diego could definitely play a major political role and I am sure Jaime will reappear near Dru in Faerie at some point, but I don't predict major ship upset or anything of the sorts. Our ships seem to be pretty set in stone as Ashdru and Kitty
The one thing that majorly stumps me is the Eternidad - we are given 0 information about the damn thing and it so far seems to be a Faerie tied travel or tracking device. My friend really wants it to be time travel related, but I'd rather die than go there as of right now. Cassie is saying suspicious things but not suspicious enough for me to lose my head juuuust yet
Now that that's done, you'll notice I left out a major one! Patience is a virtue, I have had a theory for a few years regarding how and why the Shadowhunter world will change forever during TWP.
RE: Lucifer - I think Janus is bound to be a transitional villain and element, kind of how Tatiana was in TLH, and regardless of us not knowing what about Lucifer needs to be discussed (for all we know he might be a good guy) I think that plot is the reason The Black Volume of the Dead needs to come out right before The Last Shadowhunter and not before. Our final fight is with the forces of hell, not the Cohort or Janus or Thule people. I'll tie stuff about this to the big theory I have regarding A Tale of Two
Okay, Clace is postponing the wedding because of the whole exiled Clave and Idris thing, and that's fine because Jace loves Idris so much. But what about Sizzy? Why are they postponing the wedding too? Izzy doesn't have a strong connection with Idris because she's only been there a few times, and Simon is new to the Shadow World. Why haven't they gotten married yet?
Something about how Raphael prayed until his mouth bled so he could not worry his Mom and Simon forcing himself to eat human food and being violently ill for it just so his Mom won't worry
It's so funny how Cassie just keeps giving names to Simon. He's one nickname away to defeat Jace in the long ass names competition.

Simon: Why do you chose to be a young father?
Alec: Are you suggesting it was my plan for Izzy to be born and for us to adopt Jace? I was 2 and 10, dude!
