The changes that live action One Piece made to Nami's story piss me off.

Knew the ENTIRE TIME What Nami was doing and was supportive! The ENTIRE VILLAGE was playing the part so Nami could do her thing without feeling socially pressured to stay and save them. They WANTED HER TO RUN AWAY AND LEAVE THEM TO THEIR FATE!! And the second it becomes clear to them that Arlong is gonna betray Nami again and again whenever she gets close, they drop the act and start throwing hands!! That shows a level of love and care for your neighbors that would be fostered in a small community like Cocoyashi Village. It's not only good character writing, but also wonderful world building as well. It shows what kind of culture the East Blue has, as far as I see it, the sea there is warm and gentle with the occasional Seaking, and so her people are compassionate and form tightly knit communities with a fearless drive to protect their own.

Didn't know SHIT! A fuckin baby tricked these stupid hick fucks that she'd abandon her family and spit on her RECENTLY deseased mothers grave FOR FUCKIN MONEY!!! HOW DO YOU LET A KID NOT EVEN 10 YEARS OLD TRICK YOU LIKE THAT!? Not too mention Nojiko? Seriously bitch? You didn't fuckin know your sister well enough too call that shit out or even visit the grave enough to see it freshly dug up every once in a while and get curious/pissed?? Why in the fuck did it take your dumb ass so long?! You only JUST caught Nami pulling this crap?!

Also, this might be just me, but this Luffy

talks, thinks, and asks way too much. He's not as emotionally intelligent or confident in his decision-making as he should be, and he gets too caught up in his own insecurities. Insecurities that manga and anime Luffy just doesn't have. I find these changes frustrating, annoying, and shallow rather than a deepening of the characters that I think the writers were going for. Luffy unironicaly feels like a worse captain in this adaptation, and the crew feels all the weaker for it.

None of this is intended as an attack on the actors BTW, they are fuckin crushing it and the only reason im this annoyed is cause I'm a grumpy old codger of a One Piece fan and dont like this new fangled shit lmao
