Line stage for the doomed SM-8 Crew in Iron Lung.
Thinking about simon again and got the feels.
The whole lifevest bobbing in the blood at the end had rewired my brain chemistry
Btw! This is from the SM-8 blackbox recording! The lead researcher is talking about the light and she mentions this: "he went in". WHO'S HE??? WHO'S HE
WHAT DO YOU MEAN "HE"
Edit from someone in the comments: the subtitles might be wrong, so take this with a grain of salt. In the movie it sounds like it could be "he" or "we".
HUG YOUR GOALIES
Iron lung remake where everything is the exact same but the alien Simon comes across while lost in the cave is replaced with chika
A light, shining through the hull, like nothing else even mattered.
FINALLY FINISHED MY FIRST FULL PIECE FOR THE SM8 CREW!!!!!! Lot of trusting the process on this one lmao. But I haven't made a full ass art piece in a WHILE so I am really proud of myself hehe
If you want to read about my interpretation of the SM8 expedition, im writing a fic! (Ao3 is currently down ill link it when its back up lol)
Version w/o light and fisheye filter + speedpaint under the cut(MINOR FLASH WARNING FOR THE SPEEDPAINT)
I’m having Iron Lung Thoughts and god I need to learn to animate, thinking HARD about this song in the perspective of the scientists of the sm8/the eel/leviathan.
Looking into the light (I’m still not 100% decided on what I believe the light actually is/represents) and believing that it IS all and it IS the only option. I like the idea I’ve seen floated around that the creature does believe to a certain extent that it is benevolent, or at least not inherently malicious. Trying to guide Simon toward the light before he starts resisting it entirely. Doing what the light believes is right, making things in its ignorant gods image and making things “beautiful”.
The idea of the light being this renewed sense of false hope. The “change” that they go through being their second chance at protecting that hope that humanity doesn’t deserve.
I also have this very clear picture in my mind of the creature crushing Ava’s sub at the part where it says
“I’ve seen these lonely deaths be died, I’m no stranger to the sight, it doesn’t even move me.”
Anyway I need to watch this movie like three more times
Loved this thing
