After 15 years he still couldn't forget the boy. How could he when he was in everything that surrounded Poe. He was in his mother's eyes, over years becoming sadder and less hopeful. He was in his father's smile, still boyish despite his age. He was in his old speeder that he still kept in hangar for nostalgic reasons. He was in his every memory from before he hit adolescence. Every time he closed his eyes and thought about that times he could basically hear the boys suppressed laughter. Like he didn’t mean to laugh in the first place. He could see the boy’s dark locks of hair that kept falling into his eyes. And when he does that he can’t stop imagining what his life would be like if he never let him go. If he didn’t lose his brother and best friend that day. Some people say that Poe can’t let go of the past and maybe they are right.

Finished it! More Kylux AU where Ben is a smuggler and Hux is a FO runaway!

I think this is right after Han dies-which in my AU he still does, just he goes out in a blaze of glory fighting the good fight, not ignominiously murdered by his wayward son. I think Ben grew into a man in Han's company, so he's shattered when his dad dies.

Also, I think Ben still totally feels like it's his fault somehow, that he has the Force and he still couldn't protect his Dad in a firefight in the end. And Hux is there for Ben, for comfort and because in my head he and Han kinda got along, to everyone's surprise :)
